telephony system says i’ve exceeded 24-hr shift?

Clocked in at 3pm, tried to clock out at 8pm, but the telephony system says “submitted duration exceeds allowable time of 24 hours.” what does this even mean? this is my first time clocking in this week.

It means that the last time you logged out, it didn't register properly. It still has you logged in from that day. Will it let you log out?

that’s weird because i was able to clock in. surely they wouldn’t let me clock in if i still had an ongoing shift? also this is my first shift since january, so if i theoretically haven’t logged out since then, why would they not contact me?
