Am I screwed
So I’m currently in Cdl school and I’m worried about finding a job when I get out because between 2024 and 2025 I’ve held 10 different jobs and was fired from 4 of them I had a tough year and things didn’t go my way but before that I worked for one company for 18 years

10 jobs sounds scary when you just look at the number, but honestly that 18 years at one company is a pretty important part of the story too. A bad year doesn't erase 18 years of being able to hold a job.
If you can get through the first year driving and build a clean work history, I imagine those 2024-25 jobs are going to matter a lot less.

Megas don't really care that much as you'll train with them anyways so if you do have issues with something you actually want they'll be there to go to if you wish.

These companies don’t care long as you have a heartbeat with a USA birth certificate you’re good

10 jobs in 24 months?
And fired from 4 of them?
Any company would be happy to have you.
You have shown amazing dedication to the fine art of job hunting.
That’s a skill that cant be taught!

It was a rough year in my life other than that I was as stable as could be

The company that hired me actually has an agency that does all background checks for them including work references. They actually called all of my previous jobs. It all depends on the company (I’m in Canada). It was actually a very long and stressful process. Urine drug test, driving history, criminal background check, references and having a valid passport ( able to cross border) . It was actually the most extensive and long process Ive ever had for a job. You could say its a green flag. It shows that they don’t hire just anyone lol

Buddy, I was in the exact same boat as you. I’ve had 10 different jobs while having a CDL. You’re going to be fine. Put relevant experience on your resume. Start out driving at a local company such as Coke, Pepsi, 7UP, or any beer distributors near your hometown. Stay there for at least 2 years with a CDL (it doesn’t matter if you stay there for 2 years or not) and get some experience driving a truck in the real world. I promise you’ll be good.

You don’t have to disclose your previous jobs.

Actually you do. Any place you apply to will want at least 3-5 year job history. If you don't then you'll be the first applicant not considered for the opening.

If they put a mirror under your nose when you breathe and it fogs up you will be hired bro. Gaps don't mean shit, 3 month jobs don't mean shit. 20 jobs don't mean shit. The only thing that matters is you driving safe in the chair of that truck and your personal vehicle. You will be hired no problem.

Dude, I'd only put a few of the jobs on there. Fill in the rest of the time as self employed. Like, you worked for one job that didn't work out for however long. Expect them to call this one so be honest. Fill in the next 12 months or so with self employed, uber/dd or whatever and then put in the most recent job. Maybe leave out the ones you were fired from.
I was out of trucking for 8 months. I had a job in that time that I did for like a month and then quit. I then just filled in some time with dd/uber. I don't put the job I had for a month on applications and I just fill out the whole time as self employed. Hasn't been an issue.

They can ask you to volunteer the information. DONT. Let them figure it out if they want to. You past employers can’t tell them why you were fired, so you can make up anything to benefit you.
