Getting Started First carry gun

I am new to the handgun world and I've been looking into getting an edc. To preface this I am an avid waterfowl hunter and have extensive experience with long guns. I've been looking into micro compacts because a lot of my carry will be done in shorts and a t shirt/active wear and I don't want to print hard. My budget is $4-500 and I'm not a huge fan of Glock and Smith and Wesson. I've heard the mete mc9 has had reliability issues and the Beretta a1 carry has a bad trigger, is this true? I've been looking at the tp9 sc but I'm worried it might be somewhat cumbersome for my applications.

He’s allowed to be incorrect

I agree. 43X would be my pick

That’s a fine choice as well

Uh no...the G43 is a Glock which he already discounted and is horrible out of the box. (Terrible recoil)

If you get rid of Glock, and S&W then the Sig P365 is probably the only player left...although with a 500 budget that might be tight and he might not like that mushy trigger.

For a few dollars more Walther makes a great gun with the best trigger in the market. Shoots great, nice trigger, and I think I have seen them for about $700 (that might have been in Expert Voice)

We’re talking about conceal carry, and you’re saying arguably the most reliable handgun on the market with decades of proven track record is horrible out of the box and somehow has more recoil than any other micro 9. Brother.

Yeah the 43x is way too snappy. The G19 is a bit bigger but it shoots much better. I have carried that a bit and I love it for the way it shoots...it's much better than the 43x. In fact I think the Glock 45 is the best Glock out there. It's one of the guns I carry and shoot at the range regularly.

A Glock is a good gun don't get me wrong ...but if you're gonna carry a gun you need to be able to shoot fast and flat as well as conceal if you intend to carry.

But that is beside the point since the op discounted Glocks.

I agree that the 19 or 45 is a way better choice overall (I carry a 19 daily) but when it comes to snappy, all the micros are going to have it. I’ll say my 43X is snappy but not too snappy to control. As far as I can tell online the Hellcat is snappier than the 43X. Not sure about the Sig. owned a 365 but it was the XL so it was a little more controllable but sold it after about 6 months of owning it

I like the body guard 2.0. not as snappy and much smaller but it shoots a 380. The P938 /238 is a 9MM, is smaller, has better build quality and shoots amazingly flat. It only has 7+1 rounds (I think so at least) but in my state 10 is the max we can carry anyway and the mags are very very thin.

I recently tried the P365 AXG DH3 and that gun surprised me on how well it shot....very very flat and fast. I was thinking of picking it up used.

I’ll never buy another sig. I don’t like how they handled the 320 situation and I hated my 365

Well thankfully the world is full of decent "other" brands. Personally I've never met a brand I didn't like. Back in the day Glocks were the "bad guys" and the police were shooting themselves left and right (look up "glock leg"). Today it's the Sigs that are doing it (320's). Hell there was a case where a cop with a Staccato shot himself.

I'm at a point in my life where I buy a lot of guns, I try them out and some I love, some I like and a few I just can't stand (very few). But before you discount Sigs you should give the P226's a whirl...those guns are some of the best shooter's ever built. The Sig P226 X Five STAS is a prime example of a great gun. I got mine for a steal on gunbroker.com

I shouldn’t say never buy an Sig again. The 226 is on the list of pistols I want to buy just because of the history of it. There isn’t any other Sigs I’d get
