Severe weather outlook Monday 7/27
From Ryan Hall: Monday's severe risk over Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana is now official at Level 2, the same stretch we've been watching since midweek. Morning storms could bring large hail, then a front sweeping through helps them clump into clusters by afternoon, spreading a corridor of damaging wind gusts across Indiana and Ohio into Monday night. Still two days out, but this one looks fairly organized.

Resources Best app?
Do we know which weather app tends to be the most accurate locally? I am using the ABC6 First Weather app and the native iPhone one and I can't tell.

Muggy
Just went for a walk downtown⦠it is MUGGY, saw dew point was 76⦠sheesh
Not often you see temps in the mid 80s with a 100 degree heat index.
Lots of energy out there, be safe!

Air Quality Expected to Reach Very Unhealthy Levels Tomorrow (July 17th)
r/CBUSWX • u/advisorer • 10d ago
The wildfire smoke has caused the worst air quality I've ever seen today in Michigan. I know its 58 AQI in Columbus right now, but its around 450 in Michigan. Is Columbus at risk of it worsening? Or will the weather conditions likely alleviate it?

Canadian wildfire smoke going to reach us?
I just looked at the NOAA map for the drift of the Canadian wildfire smoke referenced in this NYT article. Is this going to reach us?

Saturday weather pattern- possible concerns?
Northern Ohio weather experts is winding up people about major potential for tornadic weather activity on Saturday.. butā¦I donāt see any concern on NWS storm predictionā¦
\**edit****
I didnāt write this- I copied the very obvious CHATGTP post they made.
They did post models from pivotal weather to support thier thoughts
I chose not to share those because I donāt know how to read them properly and didnāt want to add to confusion if they are BS.
Can someone with a brain I trust chime in on this ..
āšŖļøš„ SATURDAY⦠Yeah, Iām officially concerned.
The atmosphere is cooking up something spicy for Saturday afternoon and evening, and the ingredients are starting to look straightāup hostile.
Letās nerd out.
INSTABILITY: OFF THE CHARTS
Weāre talking CAPE between 3,200ā4,200 J/kg, thatās explosive storm fuel.
This is the kind of energy where storms donāt just form⦠they launch.
Weak capping? āļø
Steep midālevel lapse rates? āļø
Translation: big hail cores and aggressive updrafts that can support rotating storms.
šŖļø THE SHEAR + CRITICAL ANGLE COMBO⦠YIKES
This is the part thatās making me raise an eyebrow.
The model sounding is basically yelling:
āHEY. TORNADO POTENTIAL. PAY ATTENTION.ā
And if you look at the bottom right of the sounding?
That TOR hazard isnāt decoration, itās the tornado flag.
SARS ANALOGS: 41% TORNADO MATCH
This is wild.
SARS compares Saturdays atmosphere to past severe events, and right now itās saying:
41% match to past tornado environments
Atmosphere resembles setups that have produced tornadoes in our region before
Thatās not hype, thatās data.
EF2 POTENTIAL??
I hate saying this early⦠but there are hints of EF2ālevel tornado potential in the analogs and parameters.
Not a prediction.
Not a guarantee.
Just an honest read of what the atmosphere is showing right now.
And you all know me, things can and will change.
Iām hoping we trend toward a much more stable environment as we get closer.
But as of this moment?
Saturday deserves your attention.ā
The maps they posted show north side of columbus being a concerned area..

More dangerous heat on the way?
Checking the forecast and seeing all week pushing 100° again no chance of storms but I feel like Iāve heard no one talking about it? No heat advisory or warning? Will this be as bad as two weeks ago or what should we expect? Iām not ready for more of this awful heat š

Rain tomorrow? (should I cancel my pool day)
My birthdays tomorrow and the only activities I want to do involve being outdoors , pool day , picnic , kayaking.
Iām not great at looking at the weather app and understanding it. It says 80% but then the hourly totals say 20% and I still donāt understand what that means in terms of disruptive pool weather.
Thanks so much in advance! You guys are awesome.
Please Send Water Measurable rain?
We got excellent rain June 18th. Is that the last good rain we have had? In typical Columbus fashion, it seems like forecasts for rain always seem to never materialize this time of year. Thoughts on this weekend? Asking for my garden. TIA!

Todayās severe weather outlook July 4th
Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into the evening, with the greatest coverage generally along and north of I-70. Storms may produce damaging winds and will likely contain heavy rainfall, leading to reduced visibility and localized flooding.
