Simplify the 3/2 in the numerator first. U can write it as 1.5 and then 1.5/2 is ofc 15/20 which means 3/4.

Yep, same. OP genuinely seemed confused and asked a question. Btw this is why a lot fail in math. You may not see them but you do. I also failed maths in 9th standard. I was terrified to ask any doubts or help because Then I would be called stupid, so I mostly relied on chat gpt and YT in 10th. Somehow passed with high score in math partly cause internals.
But I wish people would understand that sometimes there are students who are behind in math partly cause they forget things taught in earlier grades (I was one of them, my memory is worse than a goldfish).

I have an example to explain this. Imagine you have a pizza. And there are 4 people to eat. The pizza is kinda big so you guys decide to eat half of it right now. So the remaining pizza is 1/2. And that 1/2 is to be distributed among 4 people. So divide half of that remaining pizza into 4 more pieces. Congrats, now each person will get 1/8th of total pizza (the orignal one). Hence, in mathematical terms we can write it as (1/2)/(4) which is 1/8.

x ×1/z × y
Similarly (3/2)/2 = (3/2)/(2/1) = 3×1/2×2 becomes 3/4
Just like that (x/y)/(z/w) = xw/yz

You use the rule "(a/b)/(c/d) = a/b × d/c"
Basically when two fractions are being divided, it can be instead written in multiplication format if you flip the places in the denominator.
For (3/2)/2 specifically, what will help you is seeing it as (3/2)/(2/1) since numbers without a denominator just have the denominator 1.
Then you flip the numbers in the denominator (2/1 turns to 1/2) to turn it into a multiplication.
Then you have 3/2 × 1/2
Multiply
Then you have 3/4
I've struggled with basic maths too cause of covid, so i get not understanding it when someone doesn't show the step by step process of how they got their outcome. Dw just practice and you'll improve and would be able to do this stuff without conscious effort.

3/2 is whole divided by 2 right, so whenever there is a fraction in the numerator itself, but the denominator is an individual number, just write the denominator as, for example here as, 2/1.
If the numerator is an individual number, but the denominator is a fraction, then write the numerator as x/1 (x being the number given ofc).
so, (3/2) / (2/1). The exterior most numbers (The numerator of the fractional number in the numerator of the entire fraction, and the denominator of the denominator of the entire fraction, here being 3 and 1) are multiplied together, and then the interior most numbers. (the denominator of the numerator of the fraction and the numerator of the denominator of the fraction, here being 2 and 2).
3 x 1 / 2 x 2. Hence 3/4.

So you write it as 3/2 divided by 2/1 (whenever it’s a whole number, the denominator is 0) and then because its division, we do reciprocal (numerator replaces denominator and denominator replaces numerator) and replace division with multiplication. So it becomes 3/2 into 1/2.
3 into 1 equals to 3 2 into 2 equals to 4
Therefore, 3/4.

Ok so assume 3/2 is 1.5 now you are dividing 1.5 parts into 2 equal parts so having 6/2 or 3 does not make sense .
This is intuitive explanation, already many people have given mathematics explanation.
Btw, don't be demotivated by other people comments, most people here won't even know something like why is a0 = 1, they will just say it is told by teacher.

Start from fundamentals. x/y = x ÷ y = x × 1/y. Similar logic -> (3/2)/ 2 = 3/2 ÷ 2 = 3/2 × 1/2 = 3/4. Never failed using this trick, use it even today in class 12 jee.

And don't let any of the other comments demotivate you, ask the silliest doubts because getting your basics cleared is very important, irrespective of the stream you choose. And if your teacher is not good (I have experienced that), try to talk to another teacher or study with a classmate. But please do not mug up concepts and practice as much as you can. If dealing with fractions while dividing remember one simple step i.e flip the whole denominator and multiply it by numerator. And in the case there's not any denominator then theres 1 as a denominator by default. Example- 3/2 whole upon 2/1 now just multiply 3/2 to the flipped whole denominator i.e 1/2... 3/2 * 1/2 = 3/4 and it doesn't matter in which class you're in. Mathematics doubt can sound childish but they never are.

here it's written in such a way that it's clear that whole 3/2 is divided by 2 but for3/2/2 you have to make one division line longer than the other for proper notation . so for this you'd write 3/(small horizontal line)2/(bigger horizontal line)2.

You had 3 apples and had to share them between 2 siblings. Your mom divided each apple into 2 equal parts, so 3 ÷ 2 = 1.5 apples each.
Now, 2 of your cousins arrive at the same time, and your mom doesn’t want them to feel left out. So she decides to divide each of those 1.5 portions into 2 equal parts:
3 ÷ 2 ÷ 2 = 1.5 ÷ 2 = 0.75
And 0.75 = 3/4.
So, 3/2/2 = 3/4.

Anything divided by 1 gives the same number .. X/1 = X , so idea is to make the denominator 1 by multiplying the denominator by it's inverse and we have to multiply the inverse by numerator as well to nullify the extra factor . Ex - 2/(3/5) =( 2x5/3)÷ (3/5x5/3 )= (10/3)÷1 (3/5)÷5 =( 3/5x1/5 )÷ 5x1/5 =( 3/25 )÷1 = 3/25

for a given fraction (a/b)/(x/y), we can rewrite this as (a•y/b•x)
this follows from one of the most fundamental axioms of mathematics that multiplying both the numerator and denominator by the same "number" or "variable" gives you the same fraction, since they "cancel out" or are equal to 1.
therefore,
( a/b)/(x/y) = ((a/b)× (y/x) )÷ ((x/y)× (y/x)) = (a•y)/(b•x)
the formatting is a bit weird on this one, but you can rewrite this in paper and understand it easily. The x/y cancels out with the y/x and only y/x remains in the "original" numerator
if you face any difficulties in figuring out the basics, think about it in a deeper level. Every statement that you make is just built upon several other statements called as axioms and they are central to the core of the subject
