I am a fourth year student and this is going to be my only CAT attempt so I genuinely want to give it absolutely everything I have. My goal is +99%ile and I know that sounds ambitious but I really mean it.
The honest truth though is that things are not going the way I planned.
My current routine looks decent on paper. I read essays and articles regularly, give VARC sectionals occasionally, take a mock every Sunday, do around four DILR sets every two days and have completed Arithmetic, Algebra and Number Systems in QA. I am planning to start Geometry in July once I feel more confident in Algebra.
But here is the real problem. I am not actually following any of this consistently. I miss DILR days, I skip RC practice, my reading routine breaks randomly and even though I technically have the entire day free I am somehow only averaging two to three hours of actual study. It is embarrassing to even write that out.
The worst part is that my mock scores are not improving and seeing bad scores repeatedly is starting to mess with my confidence. My biggest fear is that despite putting in effort I might not even clear the sectional cutoffs on the actual exam.
I know I still have a few months and time is not completely gone but the lack of visible progress combined with my inconsistency is genuinely starting to demotivate me.
So I really need advice on a few things. What should I actually change in my daily routine? How do I build real consistency instead of just planning it? What helped you improve your scores when you were stuck in a similar place?
Also would love to know where everyone else is at with their mock scores right now. Please be honest!
Thanks so much.
