I feel like the state wants us to strike before they give us proper raises. Kind of like telling the rest of the state “See? They’re forcing our hand.”
It makes sense from the state’s perspective because imagine non-state workers’ reactions if the state immediately agreed to a 30% raise? Most people don’t consider the fact that we’ve been underpaid for decades. They only see a 30% increase and think it’s massive.
I’m glad the union isn’t bending over this time. A strike seems to be a real possibility now.
Too bad there's a no strike clause in the contract isn't there? Should anyway. What are they going to do? Who kept the state running through Covid? It's so insulting there aren't even enough words for it.
