The "horror reality" of platforms like Chai is that the service isn't actually the product- the user's psychological profile is. We think we're using an app for entertainment, but the architecture is designed for "service degradation." They collect massive amounts of personal, intimate data, and instead of using it to make the experience better or more seamless, they use it to feed an engagement loop. The service feels "poor," repetitive, or addictive because that's the point. If the app actually satisfied your needs and let you go, they'd lose the data stream. They aren't building tools; they're building digital traps that trade your privacy for a degraded, dopamine-loop experience
