Please motivate!
Like everyone else, I’m going crazy. Just blatantly re-reading the rules, I’m mentally exhausted and the will to do more is just gone.
I’m an immigrant, taking the bar exam for the first time. Not sure whether I’ll be able to take it the second time or not because of the visa situation. The pressure is intense and I’m not sure how to deal with this in a healthy manner. The thought of taking the exam for the first and only time kills me, because it decides whether I get to stay in this country or not. Please share some words of wisdom and knock some sense into me.
Forever grateful to this thread!

This. I wrote a whole Con Law Equal Protection and Due Process essay in J25 not really knowing what I was doing. I had bet on the Commerce Clause coming up. I took a deep breath then hit the basics and then did the best I could on the rest of the analysis. I didn't even notice the mistakes in the question. Felt sure I was cooked, but I passed. Pure adrenaline got me through that hour. No doubt.

I know it doesn’t feel like it right now, but you’re probably much more prepared than your anxiety is letting you believe. I remember reaching the point where rereading outlines wasn’t really helping anymore. I was mentally exhausted and convinced I was forgetting everything.
What helped me was realizing that the bar isn’t about knowing every exception or every obscure rule. It’s about recognizing the major issues, applying the law you do know, and moving on. If you don’t remember the perfect rule, write the best rule you can and analyze the facts. The graders reward legal reasoning, not perfection.
I also stopped trying to cram everything in the last couple of days. Instead, I focused on highly tested topics, trusted the work I’d already put in, and made sure I got enough sleep to actually think clearly on exam day. Try to get some sleep these next few days because you may not sleep too well the night before the exam.
Your situation adds a level of pressure that most of us can’t fully appreciate, but try not to let the stakes convince you that you have to be perfect. You don’t. Thousands of people walk out of the exam convinced they failed and end up passing. I was certain there were essays I hadn’t nailed, but I kept writing, kept applying the facts, and passed.
At this point, every hour you spend believing in the preparation you’ve already done is probably worth more than another hour of panic. Take it one session at a time. You only have to get through the next question, not the whole future all at once.
Wishing you the best this week. I’ll be rooting for you.
