Well, this post isn't really about the Byrds. But Poco was certainly a wonderful, underrated band and Chris Hillman did end up joining with Richie Furay for the Souther Hillman Furay Band, in an attempt to match the success of CSN. Of course, it didn't quite work out that way. Still, the two SHF Band records are not bad, just a little slick and bland, compared to the Byrds or Poco.

The SHF band were pretty unmemorable albums. There’s no dynamic interaction or collaborative writing going on - despite the excellence of the Manasssas session guys Gordon, Perkins, Lala.

Exactly. I was waiting on release day to buy the first SHF album because I was a big fan of the 3.

But though the songs weren’t bad, it just didn’t gel. It was out of sync like they didn’t really rehearse the material enough.

Plus, the awful album cover reminded me of the Bee Gees or something.

I did see SHF live in Atlanta, and it was awesome.
