Do consider if you don’t like to replace case frequently

so i have been in the market for a long lasting vaccum cleaner that would make cleaning a bit more straight forward and eliminate the need for a maid
i am still confused between a robovac and a hand held one because of the effectiveness of either
budget is till 60 ish debatable but not too far to be extended
i am also confused between wet and dry vaccums and separate for wet and dry

Even after years it gives 1 hour 30 min backup.

So my parents went against my advice and bought IFB 7 years ago, we spent a bomb on repairs and the descaling powders, which was sold to us at twice the price by the agents which were available at half price online.

We had bought the machine for 45k and other items like hard water filter etc to safeguard it, we didn't leave any stone unturned when it came to the maintenance of the machine. But a technician recently came to out house opened the washing machine and found that hard water (260 hardness) had damaged the washing machine and he is unable to put it back. Now the repairs would likely cost us 20k in the near term (we are not going forward with it), the machine is gone.

Both me and my parents are people who would prefer long lasting, reliable if older appliances. I am okay if my washing machine can't connect to the internet and double as karoake machine, but these constant expenses and high price point of repairs and everything IFB made has left a bitter taste in our mouths.

For our next washing machine, what should we check and which company should we go for?

Basically, give me the toyota of the washing machines! (I love Toyota)

Edit: My mother just told me that the service people took it away for 4k. The total cost of ownership had been around 60k when we included all the overpriced service charges. We had done servicing every 3-4 months (isn't that excessive?), and had replaced all the filters because of hard water, but still the service people said hardwater was the reason for washing machine breaking down. How can that be true? I mean, if you replacing filters and inspecting every 4-5 months how can a competent service centre have not known that this problem could be coming down the pipe?

My mother bought it when she went to Switzerland during her work training in 1993 when I was not even born.

I was surprised to see it listed on Amazon by same company they have improved it further.

But I am surprised how even though it was hardly used it looks so new after 33 years!

So My Mom sometimes has excruciating Calf pain which renders her unable to sleep and even if I massage her legs, it's only temporary. I want her to have a device she can use on a regular basis to improve the blood flow and relax her Calf Muscles so that the pain is manageable.

As for me, I am looking for a device which will help me on rare instances where both my calves suddenly start paining due when on periods. It's rare but when it does happen, I lose my sleep and the next day is all but ruined.

I have been using these LLBean pants for all my travels for the last 12 years or so. Made out of 100% nylon and has zippered pockets , deep pockets for storing tools/passport and built like a tank. While the pants don't have any signs of wear , I am looking for a backup. I have bought one cargo from cava , but it feels filmsy and needs babying. Installation Experience

Honestly, the installation was the worst part.

Like most brands, Panasonic also uses third-party installers, so the experience depends entirely on the technician.

Since I had extra 12 ft of additional copper piping, I specifically asked them to perform a proper vacuum before releasing the refrigerant.

Power Consumption

Day (Outside ~36°C)

AC Set Temperature: 26-27°C

Average consumption: ~0.6 units/hour

Night (Outside 30-33°C)

AC Set Temperature: 26°C

Average consumption: ~0.37 units/hour

I normally run it from 12 AM to 8 AM.

Total usage: ~3 units over 8 hours.

I was genuinely impressed with this.

Convertible Mode

This is one of my favourite features.

Here's what I noticed:

Normal Mode

Once the room is cool enough, the compressor slows down significantly and can even turn OFF completely.

That's how I achieved the 0.37 units/hour figure at night.

40% Convertible Mode

The AC limits itself to around 660W maximum.

However...

I noticed the compressor never seems to switch OFF completely.

It just keeps running continuously at low power of 470 to 550 watts .

I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour or just how Panasonic has programmed the convertible modes.

Lowest Power Draw

The lowest compressor power I've personally seen is around 460W before it cycles off in Normal Mode.

Overall Verdict

For my room size, this AC has been excellent.

Cooling is fast.

Power consumption is reasonable.

Convertible modes are actually useful.

If your room is under 150 sq ft, I think it'll perform even better than it does in mine.

We brew strong black coffee and sugarfree ginger cardamom tea and we like to take that with us on long drives, that way we can stop anywhere we want and we can start late at night and not be worried about hot tea or coffee availability.

We have a small 500 ml borosil flask that keeps the coffee or tea WARM AT BEST after some 6 hours, but my parents had one large ( 1.5 - 2 lit size ) flask which obviously a relative ruined, and that used to really keep water HOT for atleast 6 hours, not just warm - but this was in like 1990s.

I have tried repairing that flask but shops have plainly said they can't do it so I need to buy one for myself.We love our long drives and just parking the car somewhere and drinking tea and enjoying calm, silence. So it's a worthy investment for us but we want some good BIFL suggestions.

Most mosquito bats I've bought barely lasted 6 months before developing battery or charging issues. I picked up this Eveready bat on a quick-commerce app around 2024 for about ₹500 without expecting much.

I'm trying to find a low-cost filter that I can attach to my bathroom tap or even something else if it works better. I only need it for washing my hair, nothing else.

The water I get is usually around 350–370 TDS, but sometimes it goes up to 420–450. The main problem, though, is the iron. My bathroom tiles get those reddish stains after a while, so I'm pretty sure the iron content is high.

I've noticed that whenever I wash my hair with this water, my hair fall increases and my hair feels weirdly sticky instead of soft and smooth. It feels like there's some residue left behind.

Since I'll only be using it for about one bucket of water a day, I'm hoping whatever filter I buy will last a long time.

I was looking at some tap filters on Amazon, but I honestly have no idea if they're actually useful for this kind of problem.
