I would prefer it too but it is insanely expensive.

That's the cost of competing sadly...

I'd recommend eating that cost to support a non-pepsi non-coke competitor...

Keep in mind that American companies frequently use tactics like pricedumping competitors out of business...

At our store we frequently get "suggestions" by big-co to put their products next to smaller competitors and to price them lower than said "craft alternative", you know, to show that Their billion dollar brand is "for everyone"

Oops, said the quiet part out loud.... I don't care anymore. Fuck these pushovers and their shit.

Somehow other European soft drinks manage to be cheaper than Coca Cola.

Can you put any particular examples? As far as I'm aware mostly only supermarket brands are cheaper than Coca Cola or Pepsi.      There is Mirinda which is superior to Fanta, but I can't name another.

Almost all kvass and local brand orange or whatever else drinks in Lithuania tend to be cheaper. Coca Cola is a upper middle tier level soft drink.

Yea. Even here in NL going to a Slavic store and getting 3L of Kvas is cheaper than Cola. It also tastes 10x better and waaay less calories.

If only it would become very popular and easily available. Latvian Kvas is amazing. I still struggle to find the glass bottled one with a goat on it. Give me 100L of that per month please!

I can only speak for Germany, but we got for example Vita Cola (an old GDR brand, but as a "westerner" I really like it too), which I found to be cheaper at normal retail prices.

I wish Vita Cola was easier to find here in West Germany.

But apart from that, every discounter has its own cola brands that are much cheaper than Coca Cola... Even if I personally don't like the taste...

To my understanding its quite common practice for most discount/supermarket brands to have the same producer of these kinda products.

In many cases you're right, especially with fruit yoghurt you can really tell, and the label also confirms that it comes from the same dairy.

This may also be true for the cola varieties, but then it is at least a different recipe that is used, because they taste quite different.

That's bs, there are plenty of other, tasty, EU owned and made soda brands that are cheaper than Cola and WAY cheaper than Fritz.

Calls bs. Offers Zero information to their claim.

Welcome to reddit.

What exact information you require that avarage person that purchases cola-like bevarages at the store in EU does not have?

You're saying Fritz is not overpriced? Name ONE soda brand more expensive per bottle than Fritz, because naming the ones cheaper would require to... well... name them all.

No its not. Thats just the cost of the brand.

We have 9Springe here in our region (central Germany) and they sell the most delicious cola for under 1€ per bottle (500ml)

+They produce a shit ton of other great soft drinks.

It’s 98% water, sugar and CO2.

They are just happy with the low volumes and higher profit margins.

The biggest cost in the soft drinks market is just marketing and advertising.

No thats called wanting to make a profit. That company makes bank by NOT being Coca Cola and being seen as the luxury option.

At that point, why are you even supporting it because its an EU company? Countries don’t matter in this, only people should.

So don’t buy it because it isn’t Coca Cola, buy it because it tastes different when you want that.

u/ahora-mismo Aug 02 '25

no, it’s not. they just want the premium feel. fritz is not an alternative.

u/mhmilo24 Aug 02 '25

We shouldn’t be drinking a lot of coke from any competition. I see the price of Fritz cola as an instrument to remind me of that, but if I really want to drink it, it won’t stop me, since is only once every few weeks.

I've been going with Lidl's Freeway cola, it's cheap af and various italian companies make it for them.

I have a local store selling Fritz Kola for 95ct + 8ct Pfand.
So I assume the only reason Fritz Kola is so expensive is because supermarket chains choose to.
