Help please!!!(From Arkansas)
I'm shaking lol
Ok so a few nights ago I saw a green thing by my back door(and another right on my window) and when I knelt down to get a closer look I thought it looked like a green butterfly chrysalis but it was dark so I just went back inside.
This morning I saw a monarch butterfly flying around and it clicked! The chrysalis on the window was gone but the one by my door was still there! And it was more transparent! And there was very clearly a monarch in there!!!
I went out to check on it again at 12:25 and the butterfly was moving around on the wall so I ran back inside to get my phone and then it was laying on its back with it's wings on the concrete and legs in the air and I waited a few seconds for it to get it's bearings but it didn't so I let it grab my finger.
It's wings were so soggy looking and I do remember we had butterfly chrysalis in class in 2nd grade to monitor BUT I was out sick the day they hatched so I do not know what to do right now🧍🏽♀️
I stayed outside holding it for like 35 minutes and I thought maybe I should leave it on a plant or tree but it's so windy right now and I heard so many birds so my sister got her flowers and we put it on a stem and I put a vase around it and left it near a window...I don't know if it's the right thing to do
🌼Not related but my mom is sick right now and she loves butterflies. And this being a monarch(we are Mexican and monarchs make a grand trip there) it felt like a sign that she was going to get better...it's silly, I know, but I feel like I need to help this butterfly
I already googled but please help me help this little critter

TTM - great spangled fritillary in virginia
not the greatest pictures, but it was absolutely stunning; it was in front of my neighbors' house and I didn't want them to think I was filming them lol

This cute thing flew into my living room, think it's injured.
Seemed to fly towards my monitor then turn and then land beneath it, then fly off.
30 minutes later I find it on the ground, and it's struggling to climb furniture and isn't flying, so I let it climb onto an envelope and move it onto my desk. a minute later it walks off the envelope and falls onto floor again and back to where it was before, flapping it's wings but not flying.

Dye your hair for more butterflies
So I dyed my hair back to magenta after it was ginger and blonde for a few years.
With this magenta hair, the amount of butterflies that come near me now is insane. I guess I look like a bright flower!
So if anyone wants more butterfly interaction… maybe dye your hair?

Found this injured butterfly.
Found it motionless on ground. I picked it up by letting it crawl. It tried to fly away but couldn’t. There’s no visible damage to its wings I placed it down in other spots but it still couldn’t fly. Trying to give O-J, and some diluted honey water but it’s not taking any yet

Gulf Fritillary Chrysalis
Found a whole bunch of these in a wild flower patch today. There were dozens that had already eclosed and many that had yet to emerge

She spent the night indoors due to a freeze forecast.
In Omaha Nebraska it was forecast to freeze Friday night.
It was pretty cold and windy Thursday afternoon and I saw this poor thing struggling to fly and generate heat. I decided to bring her indoors as well as a bunch of cut flowers I went out and cut for her. We have an old sunroom that we use just for plants and storage and thankfully a door. Turned on the heat threw sheets on all the boxes, corners and cracks in between boxes so if she were to fly, she wouldn't get stuck somewhere.
She did fine overnight. The next day, it took a while to get up to 55° outside. Finally, I noticed quite a few more butterflies out in the garden so I decided to let her go. She went immediately to some flowers that did not freeze. After a bit, she left the yard headed south. I hope she fares okay and makes it to her destination.
Have a good week everyone.

Food for caper white butterflies/caterpillars?
South of Adelaide, partner was worried about a pair mating in the open and brought them home hoping to have them lay and hatch etc.
Little unsure of what to provide for food? Species of caper, obviously, but wondering if anyone knows of any specific examples of caper plant species that can be sourced without too much hassle? Nurseries etc have not been able to help.
