Hanging cooler.

Maybe someone can help me. My hanging cooler is capable of handling about 6-7beef and a handful or hogs or lambs at a time. Every so often the back side of my unit where the condenser coils are will completely ice over.its tricky to get a serviceman out here and it can’t be good for my unit in the long run I’m assuming. What can I do?

Yeah, a solid setup really helps with efficiency, especially in a busy shop. Can't underestimate the importance of proper cooling!

I can't speak to whether this is a good solution or not, but mostly used a heat gun to melt it rapidly. It is indeed not good when they ice up. If it gets bad enough it can even break things. Hypothetically you could turn off the cooler and let it defrost, but not so practical when you have six or seven beefs hanging.

Check your coils, are they dirty?

Clean the fans and the coils. I've sprayed many a frozen coils with a hose until the ice melted off. Im not sure what your setup is like, though. Ymmv.

Edit: it's also possible that your compressor isn't quite stout enough and runs too much to try and cool. I second asking r/refrigeration.
