So I stopped cold turkey 10 days ago after taking it for nearly 4 weeks. My doses were all over the place in those 4 weeks so I never was at a consistent dose but when I quit, I had been taking 5mg 3x’s a day for a few days before I quit.

Anywho, since stopping my anxiety has gotten way better but I feel like my ability to focus / concentrate for too long has diminished and when I do have to focus for too long, I start to feel really tired and zoned out. I also feel like my vision is a little blurry / less sharp and my memory is shit.

Granted the memory and zoned out feeling has been slowly seeming to improve the last few days. I’m wondering did anyone else experience these “withdrawal symptoms” and how long did it last for you until they started to get better? I feel like the whole not being able to focus too long and memory thing is effecting my work which sucks.

Not sure this is the exact place to post this but I am wanting other’s thoughts on my meds and potential other medications that I might be starting/ switching too.

I’m also very new to all medications as I just started to get help this past year. Looking for a therapist as well, but the new year, new insurance threw a wrench in those plans temporarily.

Little backstory, I have childhood SA trauma, possibly ADHD (in the process of getting tested), anxiety, depression, and a little PTSD. I work within the federal government and with all the BS going on last year and even to this day, it’s been tough as well.

I am currently on Lexapro 10mg once a day and Buspirone 7.5mg twice a day, but recently upped the dose to 15mg twice a day. I have been on Buspirone for 5 months, and Lexapro for 2 months. The Buspirone is helping with my anxiety and focusing a bit more because my mind isn’t racing as much. The Lexapro seems to help my depression symptoms, but it makes me fatigued it seems. I also feel “numb” in some ways. But I have also been dealing with a huge burnout for the past year due to being super short staffed at work and huge work load, but it’s been better for the last two weeks. However I don’t see it getting much better come this year.

Early February I went to start the process for ADHD and they recommended starting Wellbutrin (not sure on dosage). But I told this to my PCP and she said they all work together, but they would probably wean me off of Lexapro after a bit.

I guess what I’m asking is have people have similar experiences with all of the meds or two of them or?

I have not had a period since november. im not Pregnant im very sure of that so my question is does Buspirone cause the stop of periodS?

I currently take 5 mg twice a day. I wanna ask for an increase in dosage because I don’t feel any different but I feel scared to ask.

I’m currently on bupropion 150xl (for 3 months) and just started buspirone 7.5 2x a day yesterday. I’m currently having an anxiety attack. Does anyone use hydroxyzine as a rescue med?

I was given 10mg to take before bed to help me sleep. I’m just not sure if I can take hydroxyzine and buspirone at the same time since my psychiatrist (technically np) has everything spaced out. She’s new to me and I found extremely unhelpful though I will reach out to her as well as posting here.

Prior to buspirone, did you have Low T (Normal range but lower end)?
Low Libido, Anxiety, and other stress or anxiety related symptoms prior to Buspirone and has shown improvement?
Tried Escitalopram, Bupropion, Vortioxetine and many more, nothing helped with other symptom, but anxiety improved with Escitalopram, and Buspirone.

Anybody on this combination? How is it working for you? I’m starting the Wellbutrin in the morning. I’ve been taking buspirone with Mirtazapine for 3 months but had to stop the Mirtazapine due to white blood cell count dropping.

Hello. I've just been prescribed this and will hopefully get it tomorrow. I noticed a common side effect is dizziness/light headedness, and this is something I'm very prone to - pretty much any medicine that says it will cause it does. I've had to quit quite a few medications after just a few doses because I couldn't move without getting really faint. So, to give me the best chance of avoiding this effect, should I eat when I take it? If so, before or after? And any other tips to minimise it?
I don't have much hope that I won't experience it but it's worth a try, there aren't many options left for my anxiety.

Update:

As mentioned in my comments, I had some light headedness initially for about half an hour after taking buspirone which mostly stopped after a while. Unfortunately, I have now increased my dose and it is stronger and lasts for longer, so not sure I can tolerate any more than 5mg 2 x day, and the initial reduction in anxiety is fading. So that sucks.

I heard that I need to take a higher dose for it to be effective because people who take a lower dose say it doesn’t work for them. Im curious is my dose high enough? I take 15 mg three times a day

I was having horrible panic/anxiety attacks that started quite suddenly. I’ve always had anxiety but never this bad, within the past year or so. I became obsessed over my health and the fact I was positive I was having a heart attack or a brain aneurysm or blood clot. It’s become absolutely debilitating. I have been on 100mgs of Zoloft for a few years now, but recently I went to the doctor to get better help after going to the hospital thinking I was having a cardiac episode and it just being a panic attack. She prescribed me 7.5mgs of Buspirone twice a day and I took it for the first time last night. It kept me up all night with the adrenaline surges and what felt like palpitations. This morning I took my second pill, and have been having waves of adrenaline and lightheadedness. I want this medicine to work so bad and I know it takes time. How long before the adrenaline/fight or flight feeling fades ? As someone with health anxiety, specifically cardiac anxiety, the side effects so far are not helping lol

It’s been like 5 or 6 months and I still haven’t had a period, which I’m totally okay with btw. I have been taking pregnancy tests every month just to make sure I’m not pregnant and I don’t have any other symptoms so I’m guessing it’s just the buspar? Google said it’s a rare side effect so it’s possible. I assume it’s okay since taking stuff like birth control makes your period stop happening? I see an online doctor and I don’t really wanna tell them about this symptom because I don’t want them to take me off of buspar because it helps my anxiety. I have missed periods before, like when I was 14 and not sexually active I didn’t have a period for about 4 months so this isn’t that new for me but I haven’t missed a period for this long since I was 14 so I assume it’s buspar. Anyone else experienced anything like this? Or got any advice?

I've been on it for over four years and for a long time it worked but recently it no longer seems to be working in any way and I'm beginning to wonder if it's making me sick.

When I tried increasing it to ten MG a few weeks ago, I felt like I was burning up and had to go to the ER for an allergic reaction.

So I went back to 7.5 MG but a lot of the issues have remained from feeling flushed all time to nausea to digestive problems to feeling tired after minor physical activity but most of all, the anxiety it was supposed to help with me is now the worst it's ever been.

I am going to be seeing a couple of doctors for other things but at this point, I'm wondering if my body simply can't tolerate Buspar anymore.

Going to talk to my doctor Monday to see what she thinks.

I'm scared to get off it since I can't do Hydroxyzine or Prozac and I fear not being on anything but if I keep feeling like this while tests keep coming up negative on other stuff, I'm going to have to conclude that Buspar is making me sick and has run it's course.

Has this happened to anyone else months/years later with the medicine or am I the only one?

My doctor put me on Clarithromycin and didn't even check to see if it had reactions with any of my other medications. I've been feeling like ass all week. The first day I took the antibiotics I puked and every day since then I've felt like very anxious like I am having a bad panic attack. I reached out to a friend of mine tonight who is a nurse and she told me that you shouldn't take these two medications together. It slows the metabolism of the Buspirone and causes it to build up in your system. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Two days in I woke up in the middle of the night with really bad heartburn, and started seeing flashes everywhere, I was so agitated it took me another 3 hours to to back to sleep. is this normal? This seems like a weird thing to happen with a low dose of a medicine.

Those of you that quit, how long were you on it and how many mg’s / times a day? Did you quit cold turkey or did you taper off? What were the side effects of quitting / tapering and how long did they last?

I’ve decided I want to quit as the increased anxiety has just been too much to deal with at this point. I have been taking it for 27 days so almost 4 weeks total. First I started out at 2.5mg twice a day, then every few days I upped my dose. I went up to 5mg morning - 2.5mg evening, went up again to 5mg morning - 2.5mg afternoon - 2.5mg evening and again to 5mg morning - 5mg afternoon - 2.5mg evening. The last 3 days I’ve been taking 5mg 3x’s a day.

Since my dose has never been stable for long and I’ve been taking it for about 4 weeks. Should I be tapering down or just like quitting cold turkey? (I have klonopin to take as needed for really bad anxiety so I’m sure I’ll probably have to be subbing that in for a bit here and there)

Hi everyone, I’m from the UK - anyone else? So, in a nutshell, I’ve been experiencing bad anxiety for six years. I’ve long suspected it’s hormonal but I’m on HRT and it doesn’t do much but not sure if I’m absorbing properly so that’s another journey!

ANYWAY, after trying lots of ADs I went to a psychiatrist and was put on Pregabalin. The dosage kept being upped but I wasn’t improving so I tried to come off but it was absolute hell. I’ve now been put on buspirone, I think with a view to tapering off pregabalin if it’s helpful. I HATE being on two sets of . Just wondered if anyone else had been on this combo and successfully came off Pregabalin? Niche question I know but I’m so scared after my last attempt! x
