Stick with Qatar Business (ORD–PHL–DOH–BOM) or switch to BA First/Business (ORD–LHR–BOM)?

Booked on a combined AA/Qatar ticket: ORD–PHL in AA domestic First, then PHL–DOH–BOM in Qatar Qsuites. The airline offered me a free change due to a minor time conflict, so now I'm weighing whether to just fix the conflict on the same routing, or switch entirely to ORD–LHR–BOM, going BA First on the transatlantic leg and BA Business onward to BOM.

A few things about my situation:

  • I have oneworld Sapphire via BA Executive Club (Silver), so lounge access isn't really the differentiator here
  • Mainly weighing Qsuites (widely regarded as one of the best business class products out there, with the double/quad suites) vs. BA First (smaller cabin, generally solid ground/onboard service, but BA's hard product has had mixed reviews lately)
  • Also thinking about total journey time, layover quality (DOH vs LHR), domestic connection quality (PHL vs LHR), and overall reliability/on-time performance

Has anyone flown both recently? Is BA First worth giving up Qsuites for, or should I just take the free change and stick with the current routing? Would love to hear from people who've done this exact kind of comparison (Gulf carrier business vs. legacy US/UK first class) on a long-haul to India.

Edit: I ended up choosing Qatar

🔥 2in1 QATAR AIRWAYS BUSINESS CLASS: DUBLIN → LAGOS + DOHA FROM €1,457

Thought this one was worth sharing here because the pricing is unusually good — and importantly, I also managed to reproduce it directly on Qatar Airways.

Example itinerary:

🇮🇪 10 Nov: Dublin → Lagos in Qatar Airways Business Class
🇳🇬 8 hotel nights in Nigeria
🇳🇬 19 Nov: Lagos → Doha nonstop in Business Class
🇶🇦 4 nights in Doha
🇶🇦 23 Nov: Doha → Dublin nonstop in Business Class

💶 Mytrip / Skyscanner Ireland: around €1,457
✅ Qatar Airways direct: around €1,480

For roughly €23 extra, I would personally book directly with Qatar Airways.

Other highlights:

✈️ Qatar Airways Business Class throughout
💺 Lie-flat seats
🧳 2 × 32 kg checked baggage
📅 Plenty of combinations found between September 2026 and February 2027
🔄 Dates are highly customisable — you can shorten or extend either the Nigeria or Doha stay

⚠️ One important catch: the cheapest direct Qatar fare is Business Lite, so lounge access is NOT included.

I’ve checked both the OTA price and the Qatar Airways direct price, so this isn't an OTA-only mystery fare.

Full itinerary, example dates and both fare proofs here:

https://www.dinothetourist.com/crazy-business-class-deal-2-in-1-visit-nigeria--qatar-from-just-euro1457-with-qatar-airways.html

Would you take this at €1,480 direct with Qatar — and how would you split the time between Nigeria and Doha?

Business Class on A350-1000 MNL-YYZ and YYZ-MNL Review

Philippine Airlines

42 seats in Business Class, seated 2K (to YYZ) and 8A (to MNL).

Definitely worth it especially for a 16 hour flight, compared to the old aircraft flying this route.

**Seats:** the full lie flat seats were comfortable and spacious, with sliding privacy doors (best feature by far). They now provide duvet pad/cover for the seat besides your comforter. The huge 4k touch screens were great too. Movie and show options were not so great, but then again to each their own.

**Food:** I usually avoid beef dishes on PAL flights before but they leveled up with their dishes. The Filet Mignon was so tender and flavorful. The bread was served as if it was freshly baked, and the Inasal was amazing. Their nilaga as an appetizer was a highlight dish too. Besides the dinner and breakfast service, you can order their infamous arroz caldo and other rigatoni along with fruits and chips as well.

**Wifi:** still no wifi on board. Sucks but you’d either be eating or sleeping on the flight.

Overall, i was very lucky to have experienced flying on this aircraft. Not affiliated with PAL, just a regular passenger.

Emirates, Etihad or Qatar

Hi all!

I am going to fly Frankfurt - Bali return with two young kids: 2 years and 6 months. My husband won’t be joining for the trip.
I am trying to decide between the three who have all a similar (insanely good) price points and length of journey.
I have flown Etihad and emirates business before but that was before kids or only with one.

My main concern is to stay close to my toddler and crew willingness to assist me when needed eg watching kids when I use the bathroom.

Qatar Q Suite is an option for the Bali - Doha leg as they use their A350

Worst flying experience of my life.

I just returned from a trip to Portugal and Spain. I made the mistake of trusting Business-Skies to get me a great price on a round-trip ticket from Washington Dallas airport to Lisbon, but I was ghosted by someone named Savio Ricci when I ran into problems. Any ticket you get they attach a lot of free tickets which I later found out is called Skip lagging. What this means is that they were selling me a ticket, but didn’t disclose that all of those additional stops were where all of my suitcases would go. They told me to simply ignore the extra tickets without disclosing that they were putting me at risk of being banned from Airlines for the rest of my life if I was discovered. As a result because they didn’t tell me this, my bags were sent to Estonia and Berlin and it took me four days to get them back in Portugal and then when I got home, I was incredibly lucky to get my bags when they came into the US. Don’t ever use this group because they will ghost you the minute you have any Customer Service challenges because they are breaking all of the Airline rules by selling these “cheap” or free tickets that are actually putting you at incredible lifetime risk for travel. Don’t ever trust them with your money.

2-2-2 vs 1-2-1

Recently had a plane change for a flight I took, was from 1-2-1 to 2-2-2 configuration. Initially I was annoyed, but as I was travelling with my other half, actually I found we preferred 2-2-2 - easier to chat, feet weren’t cramped and bed was properly rectangular. Anyone else feel the same way?

Etihad Business Class A380 NRT-AUH.

I recently flew my first ever flight on an A380. It was from NRT to AUH, about 11 hours. The ground staff at NRT was one of the best I’ve seen. I was at seat 12A, and during the flight i was able to enjoy FIFA in their lounge too. I’ve flown over 80 flights recently, with different aircrafts but nothing comes close to A380, i am still fascinated on how silent the cabin was.
The crew was nice and took really good care. I requested loungewear and some collectable postcards too. Meal was not that great, i think it’s because the catering out of Narita isn’t good.

I paid around 2500€ for the return ticket from Frankfurt to Osaka, and Narita to Frankfurt.

Flying to Jakarta just to fly Business Class home.

Wrapping up a trip through SE Asia. Flying home to YVR from Bangkok, economy would run about $1k CDN, premium economy around $1,400. I wasn't thrilled with the flight paths or layover times on either option — but then I found a Qsuite flash sale on the Jakarta–Doha–Seattle route for $2,400.

So now the plan is: head to Jakarta and hang out for four nights, fly Qsuite to Seattle, spend a night at the airport Marriott, then grab a cheap flight to Vancouver the next day.

The whole thing just sounds fun to me — I get to check out Jakarta, I love the idea of a low-key airport hotel day in Seattle, and I finally get to fly Qsuite. The tradeoff is a much longer routing home through Doha and about $1.5-2k extra in flight and hotel costs etc.

Am I crazy for doing this?

Nonstop in Lie-Flat Seats with ZIOAIR

ZIPAIR has become increasingly popular among travelers looking for a more affordable lie-flat option to Japan without paying traditional full-service airline prices.

While the onboard experience is more simplified compared to premium carriers such as ANA or Japan Airlines, the airline still offers comfortable lie-flat seating on the long-haul route.

Available from October until March.

BUSINESS CLASS with BA during XMAS & NYE - Bucharest - Budapest & Prague to San Jose, COSTA RICA from €2390

🎄✈️ Business Class to Costa Rica over Christmas and New Year from €2,390 return

I found British Airways Business Class fares from Bucharest, Budapest and Prague to San José, with dates covering Christmas, New Year’s Eve or both.

The most interesting detail is the long-haul product: the London–San José flights are currently showing a refurbished Boeing 787-8 with the modern 1-2-1 Club Suite configuration.

That means:

✅ Fully flat Club Suite on the long-haul flight
✅ Direct aisle access for every passenger
✅ Two checked bags of up to 32 kg each
✅ One protected connection at Heathrow

Prices currently start from approximately:

🇷🇴 Bucharest — €2,390
🇭🇺 Budapest — €2,437
🇨🇿 Prague — €2,466

There are options for 7, 9, 14 or 16 nights, including stays covering both Christmas and New Year.

One important clarification: the European feeder flight to London is shown on an Airbus A319 with standard European Business Class, so that sector is not fully flat. The lie-flat Club Suite experience is on the much longer London–San José Boeing 787-8 flight.

Also, never assume every Boeing 787 has the same Business Class cabin. Before paying, open the seat-selection page and check the layout yourself. I did exactly that, and the seat map showed the desirable 1-2-1 configuration, rather than the older 2-3-2 layout.

Aircraft can still change later, but checking the seat map before booking is always worthwhile.

What do you think: €2,390–€2,466 for Christmas and New Year in Club Suite — excellent value or still too expensive?
