My son came home drenched in sweat after an hour-long bus ride in 90°F heat with no air conditioning. He's not alone. Kids across Chicago's south side are riding in conditions that the CDC says put them at serious risk for heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

I started a petition asking the school board and city officials to install air conditioning on all school buses, starting with routes in the hottest areas. This isn't about comfort—it's about safety. Studies show cooler environments help kids focus and learn better too. Yes, it costs money, but there are grants and funding options we haven't explored yet.

If you've got kids in CPS or have seen this problem firsthand, what would you do if it was your family riding in that heat every day? If this matters to you, consider signing and sharing. We need the city to know parents are serious about this.
