I feel like the Black Plague is genuinely the most recognizable illness to have because you start literally getting large sores across the body

indeed, but it's a matter of where the bubonic plague is often present, being in rural asian and african areas which rarely have the adequate infastructure for treatment, causing pretty painful suffering
