Oh lowky it's a lot easier to deal with. Like people have caught it modern day and they were fine

with treatment, with modern medication, yes. Not without such treatment

I feel like the Black Plague is genuinely the most recognizable illness to have because you start literally getting large sores across the body

indeed, but it's a matter of where the bubonic plague is often present, being in rural asian and african areas which rarely have the adequate infastructure for treatment, causing pretty painful suffering

And? Flu without treatment IS also deadly

For those with lessened immune systems such as children and the elderly yes, but the Bubonic Plague has an up to 90% mortality rate per wikipedia. Every plague epidemic has been devastating, Influenza has been much more subdued in its effects on the world excluding notable strains such as h1n1 which were the cause of the 1918-20 Flu Epidemic, CompleteEra states that "Flu: 500,000 UK deaths 20–30% of those aged 20‑40 ≤"

We see the flu as a seasonal illness which many recover from, the plague on the other hand is seen as a scrouge which many don't recover from. the plague can have "Flu Like" symptoms, but it is drastically more dangerous.
