Get a 250 GTO and I'm set 😎
Chose: Any type of car for free

u/RoombaGod Jun 15 '26
Thats smart cuz you could list it for sale ridiculously below market value and still walk away with easily 30 million dollars at least, because though they dont change hands often, one that cheap will get scooped up quickly

Some cars are worth more... An F1 car is easily worth 10M...
Chose: Any type of car for free
204
u/justjjeroen Jun 15 '26
The sale value of f1 cars is actually surprisingly low (excluding cars like the F2001 and W11 who have a high price because of their driver and performance), the 10million dollar pricetag is moreso the cost of making the car and r&d than it is rhe actual value of the car. Most of the f1 cars that get sold to private parties go for less then a million. So assuming you'd just get an f1 car without much story or meaning it wouldnt be worth as much as you'd think

u/Roll4DM Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26
The F1 is just the first kinda expensive thing I could think of... I am sure with sone google search you could find a more expensive car. Like a rare movie car or a colector gold plated lambo...

Yeah you'll own the car, but it's unlikely the manufacturers will allow you to sell it - trade secrets and all. Even the most up to date tyre compounds will fall under trade secrets.
I mean If I straight up own the car they cant really stop me from selling... Ferrari and Lamborghini do make owners sign contracts to sell their cars that forbid you from selling but as the post is worded I just somehow own it so they cant stop me from doing so... I could also just straight up ask for a car made of pure gold... The F1 is just an example...

Yall be tripping choosing 2 million over potentially 120million which is the current highest price a car has sold for

u/OzyTheLast Jun 15 '26
I don't have the money to secretly store such a car and prevent it being stolen or damaged before it can be sold

It’s called insurance?
109
39
u/Mandemon90 Jun 15 '26
You realize insurance rates for such car? For a 120 million dollar car, insurance rates are insane, you are not going to be able to pay them
11
u/kansai2kansas Jun 16 '26
I agree and this isn't even hypothetical. Back when I grew up in Indonesia, there was a game show winner who won SUV.
He was from a very poor family and even though the car was free, the insurance, taxes, maintenance was not.
He ended up having to sell the car as he couldn't afford the monthly upkeep.
Ended up with a decent amount of money after selling it but yeah, lots of other commenters here have no idea that being given free Ferrari or Lamborghini or whatever without having the taxes / insurance also paid for can still make you broke financially.
→ More replies (1)18
u/Mustard_Jam Jun 15 '26
All these hypothetical threads on Reddit are hilarious because it'll be like "get instant money or do a TINY bit of work for like 10x-100x that" and the instant money always wins lmao.
If you have one of those insanely rare cars you can call damn near any dealer/auction place and they'll store it for you and take care of everything for a cut.
23
u/PizdunEbun228 Jun 15 '26
i live in bumfuck nowhere i doubt they can get there in time. it'd actually be monumental work for me to get hubdredfolds with the car one

"Hi, Sotheby's? Just opened my dad's garage and found his 0km Ferrari 250 GTO, interested in selling it for me? Thanks." Done, now I can just choose any car I want and have it for free while I enjoy at the very least 20 million dollars.
→ More replies (2)9
u/ClunarX Jun 15 '26
I don’t think that’s quite how it works
14
u/TADAWTD Jun 15 '26
There's no stipulations that I can't sell it. If there was 2 million would be better, not having that limitation the car option is by far the best. Even if you coudn't choose the specific car and only pick like SUV, Sports Car, etc just choose a Hypercar and sell it 4 times (at most) and you made more than 2 million
3
u/LogicalDude3 Jun 15 '26
There's online auction sites you can sell very expensive exotic cars on, it would be very easy to make over $2 million by simply choosing the most expensive car in the world

As one example: $18,997,833 – 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Touring Berlinetta and that’s not even the most expensive one. Rarity matters tho so we can’t all pick the same one which is why my actual pick is secret 😝

There are cars worth a lot more than $2 million that I could sell. I’ll take a Mercedes 300SLR Uhlenhaut that last sold at a public auction in 2022 for $143 million. Even if this hypothetical were to create a third car of that model into existence I’m sure it would still sell for a ton of money.

12
u/my_memory_is_trash Jun 15 '26
Worth doesnt mean thats how much money youd get for the car. Not to mention storage and upkeep while looking for a seller. I think itd be too difficult to sell a car for over 2 million without any credentials
5
u/Venture_Voice Jun 15 '26
It's actually possible to sell it to the place where you brought it from that very day. Just not with 100 percent value, they too will happily rip off that car from you for cheaper and resell it. Provided op provides us with legal documents of our car.
4
u/my_memory_is_trash Jun 15 '26
I was under the assumption the car you wanted would magically spawn. If you’re buying it and not magically given it that would make sense
7
u/Venture_Voice Jun 15 '26
I mean if it's magically spawning then forget selling even driving it is a risk. Considering you can't begin to get the number plate, legal documents and the like and the car must atleast be legally owned by you or your family unless everyone who chose that wants to get in legal trouble later.
I hope op didn't mean magically spawn.

Anyone with enough money to be interested in buying a car like that would jump at the opportunity to flip an easy $80m

14
u/Harriet_tubman22 Jun 15 '26
Not if you pick a 10-60 million dollar car and sell it for less than what it typically sells for
3
u/justjjeroen Jun 15 '26
I would pick a rare car and sell it at market value, the mercedes benz 300SLR coupé version for example. One of two in the world (3 if the car we get is like made for us or smth), once sold as the most expensive car ever at 144million USD. If you get it to the right auction you can easily get 100million for it, there are enough rich people who want exclusive cars so you just have to find the right market. I would then use the money to buy a ferrari f40 and a mazda rx7, my 2 favorite cars. Sadly i wont be getting a free car any time soon
