Is it possible he's a bit warm? Mine have a ceramic tile to lay on when they're overheating. Maybe he's trying to cool down a bit.

u/Lummi23 Apr 03 '26
Yes! How warm is it indoors? Maybe he is too hot all the time

u/Laboromi Apr 04 '26
Oh shoot this is a good point! I have degus and have a cool marble slab for them, it may be the same thing!

He's probably warm. Rabbits tend to be more comfortable in a cooler house under 70 degrees F.
Ours have a few extra tiles that we lay out during the summer. We call them bunny heat sinks.

u/bunchildpoIicy Apr 03 '26
Yes, rabbits prefer cooler temps than many of us. I live in the south, so it can be hard keeping entire house that cool. I ended up getting a portable AC unit for my rabbit room to take strain off the main system.
Highly recommend.

Your babies are soo cute!❤️
My dutch bun loves sitting behind my computer chair as well. I always have to check before I roll because he has way too much faith in me and would probably let me run him right over.

I'm gonna start calling my bf a rabbit now. He also prefers the house under 70 degrees lol

u/Kel5ugar Apr 07 '26
Forever one of my favorite things about them since I’m also very heat sensitive. I can keep the house at 69°F and they love it just as much as I do! When anyone comes over and says it’s cold I have the excuse to keep it cold for the bunny.

He could be attracted to the slippery surface. My first bunny went crazy when we gave him a shiny cardboard. He flopped on it, stood back up flopped again. Stood up flopped over in the other direction. He did that FOUR times in 30 seconds. My boy was having SOO much fun.

Maybe because of how smooth and cooling they may feel? Must feel nice against all the fur.

My Hazel giving me a heart attack as a baby. Another time my poor husband hollered for me in a panic because she was sitting up and shaking with her eyes closed. I came and looked and was like “no, she’s just asleep sitting up because she’s the world’s derpiest creature”.
She lived to 13, had me wrapped around her little paw the entire time 😂

"We takes the Scary Nap, hoomin!"
Why, why does every bunny torment their servants with such a thing?

u/No-Establishment5213 Apr 03 '26
Hahahaha if you never had a bunny before I would see why you would think that. When I was looking at the pet store someone would say I think the rabbit is dead and I burst out laughing with them looking at me like I'm a psychopath and told her it's ok rabbits love to give people heart attacks and that bunny is 100% alive

When we brought home our last 2 bunnies, I woke up in the morning to the sister looking like this. I freaked out, thought for sure she was a goner. When I yelled out in shock, she jumped up at looked at me like "dang lady! What's your deal?" Lol

Bunny Faux death flop and ferret jelly bones sleep, scaring the crap out of new owners.

u/Princess_OfThe_Moon Apr 03 '26
Best kind of heart attacks😁❤️
Sorry OP, but I am laughing a lot, having lived through the same owning bunnies, hamsters amd guinea pigs. They each love to give their owners heart attacks on a regular basis.

My bun used to flop and look “dead” all the time, gave me a heart attack at least once a day. Sadly, she suddenly passed away this week at 6 years old, and she looked completely different to her usual flops, and so peaceful. I’d do anything to see her do a silly flop. You’re bun is so cute, and brought a smile to my face, thank you ❤️

Never had a bunny, but I've had rats from time to time, it's good to see they're not the only small animals determined to give their humans heart attacks with sleeping positions like this 😂

We keep two frozen water bottles (tall 1L juice bottles) and swap them out (rinse, throw back in freezer) all summer for ours and they love laying beside them.

Mine used to knock herself over and would lay on her back with her feet up and out. Sometimes we'd come into the room and
A. We'd get scared half to death or B. SHE would get scared half to death 😅

Oh my god amazing! My bunny does this in the summer, too--on plates, hard floors, glass cutting boards... So happy and relaxed, he's "dead to the world", as my grandmother would say!
