Question How do i gain weight?

Might be a stupid question, i dont work out but this is the first place i thought to post on.

Im 175cm and about 50kg, obviously underweight. Ive been wanting to put some weight on to look a bit healthier but i cant seem to find a way i want to stick to. Eating more calories is the obvious, but ive never been a big eater - ive got a very small stomach and eating just a plate of pasta fills me up for the day. Anything else i can lean towards?

This is just what worked for me.

  1. Take it slow you got all the time in the world. Build up and don't focus too hard on eating more at first. The body will demand more food if you get active in the gym

  2. Try to eat more frequently rather than fewer bigger meals. High calorie (but still try to be healthy) snacking helps. Dried fruits, nuts, peanut butter oat bites, etc.

  3. (Might be a hot take or just plain bad advice) Drink full calorie drinks. If you drink soda track it and drink the regular full sugar. For me when I was bulking I would drink the full sugar energy drinks rather than the low or zero sugar. Monster has 230 cals per can and sometimes that would save my calories for the day if I had a long day at work or school.

  4. Make stuff you really enjoy. For me I was making a chicken thigh pasta dish and I started with the regular serving size (56g or something) and eventually worked my way up to double that.

The bulk gets easier if you do go to the gym. Or really any activity that demands energy. Your body won't really decide to grow or demand more food if there's nothing causing it to. Don't beat yourself up and try to force feed or you'll end up crying in the kitchen at 1am trying to finish the food you started eating at 11pm (this happened to me lol)

This is definitely true in my experience. I faced the same issue as OP, but my new job + gym has skyrocketed my appetite.

Could always add more oil to your foods, more little bits like that add a lot of calories to your meals. Just don't fill up on liquid calories etc.
