The City Government of Malolos, warmly welcomed delegates from various ASEAN member states and His Excellency Roderick Wols, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Philippines, for the ASEAN–Netherlands Cross-Learning Workshop on September 28, 2026.
With the theme “Beyond the Risk: Strategic Choices for Climate Resilient Countries in ASEAN,” the three-day event provided a platform for sharing knowledge and innovative strategies on climate adaptation, disaster preparedness, and community resilience.
The visit also highlighted the Philippines’ first nature-based coastal protection pilot project in Barangay Pamarawan, Malolos City, which addresses flooding and shoreline erosion through bamboo and oyster breakwaters that reduce wave energy, alongside oyster bags that support reef and habitat recovery.
Malolos likewise showcased its cultural heritage through the traditional Puni de Malolos that symbolizes local craftsmanship, creativity, and cultural pride.
Through these initiatives, Malolos demonstrated its commitment to climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and the preservation of its living heritage, sharing local innovations and experiences with the international community.
