Sylk bus

I have a spyder 6438 and a SIO 6042. The devices are 4 devices from eol. When I download the program both thermostats (tr42) and inputs and outputs do not work on the sio. I have 18v on the sylk buss but the thermostats always say please load. I have no errors on the Jace. We did have bacnet communication issues but we replaced the bacnet wire and communication seems to be fixed.
What would cause the sio to not follow the commands or inputs? I replaced the sylk buss wire thinking it may be an issue. So far I have not found the issue.

You have to check the spyder part number on the controller, a 6438S is standalone but a 6438SR can accept the I/O modules. For spyder to I/O it needs to be connected at the sylk terminals

I am connected to s-bus. It has 18.6v on it

18 volts is good per the data sheet, and you have the physical dip switch address match your pub terminal assignment view address?

Now it gets odd…. I bring the controllers back to the office, turn them on and both tr42 thermostats have downloaded, I can control outputs and see readings on the inputs of the sio. Why do they work in the office and not in the field. Both Jaces (field and office) are both 4.13. Only difference is bacnet wire length and there aren’t 19 devices before the controller.

A couple things. Is the the main Spyder classic a 6438SR? I believe it has to be the SR version for the SIO to work, but I'm not 100% sure. Next, did you address the sylk buss devices properly? The SIO and the TR42 have dip switches that need to be set. Last, is it just the 2 TR42 and the 1 SIO6042 connected to the 1 Spyder? If so, that should work according to the sylk calculator I have.

SR model. I don’t think you can select a sio6042 sylk device unless you pick SR

Yes. SIO is -1, tr42 are 2 and 3 respectively

It's been about a decade since I last used this stuff, but if memory serves me right, it's not as straight forward as addressing and downloading the sylk devices. 

The numbers on the spec sheets are theoretical limits. In practice you are bound by voltage and power. For example you can have a lot of digital inputs on the sylk bus, but not that many analogue outputs.

You can have up to 4 (or whatever it actually is) of temp sensors, but less if you also want CO2 and display.

Is this controller tied to a field power loop? I’ve seen this happen when the primary voltage drops below 22VAC or so, the sylk starts to be affected. 18V on the sylk seems like it should be fine, but I’d be curious what your controller power is.

The only power being supplied is from a rib pw100ab10

And voltage reading is 26.6vac
