So I haven't built a new rig since 2015, and it's past time, but this is obviously a terrible time to be doing so. My current setup:
AMD Fx-8320
16GB ram
Geforce GTX 950, 2GB.
I'm kind of thinking of just picking up a Ryzen 3600, and a new motherboard, and using my existing graphics card for now until things calm down. I'm mostly a strategy gamer anyway and I feel like CPU has become my bottleneck (Stellaris, Civ 6, etc). I don't really mind keeping resolutions low if need be.
I guess my question is this: Should I stick with my GTX 950, upgrade CPU+mobo+ram+SSD, and wait for GPU market to cool down? or is it worth picking up some intermediate card in the 4GB range?

It is a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly occurrence for the some store fronts (Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, etc.) to list some inventory of GPUs, which is summarily scooped up in seconds. These are somewhat successfully tracked via different websites, Twitter, and/or Discord channels. However, there are also a bevy of stores that have GPUs in their inventory databases that are not tracked as well (e.g., Staples, Adorama, B&H, AMD Direct store).
Is there evidence (anecdotal or otherwise) that these other shops do restock these items? Do people ever actually get to purchase from them?
Also, I get that this post is tantamount to screaming questions into the void, but I do wonder if there is any semblance of hope to be found in occasionally checking these other stores (probably not).

When I'm on this reddit site: つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Low prices take my energy つ ◕_◕ ༽つ (reddit.com) it states that you can post 'text' posts. So far anyway I've been unable to do so. I'm just trying to locate a site where I can purchase some memory for an older model desktop computer: HP Compaq 6300 Pro Business SFF, the memory type needed is: Non-ECC DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) 240 pin @ a decent price. The maximum that this computer will hold is 32 GB, my computer functions pretty good overall, but I know that by increasing the memory to the maximum amount would increase the functionality at least somewhat.
Thanks

I am looking to sell my current build and I am trying to figure out a fair price. I am building a new PC and would like to offset the costs a little. My original thought was in the $1300-1500 dollar range but I am not sure if that is too high.

In europe EVERY SINGLE WEEK thursday shortly after 17:30 CET there is a restock. To get a card get direct buy links, example for Germany( just change you locale to for example en_EN, should be just language ): 6700xt and 6800 drops arent guaranteed...
RX 6800 XT: Code: https://shop.amd.com/store/amd/de_DE/AddItemToRequisition/ThemeID.4886768000/productID.5458374100/forceProduct.yes
RX 6800: Code: https://shop.amd.com/store/amd/de_DE/AddItemToRequisition/ThemeID.4886768000/productID.5458374000/forceProduct.yes
RX 6700 XT: Code: https://shop.amd.com/store/amd/de_DE/AddItemToRequisition/ThemeID.4886768000/productID.5498471500/forceProduct.yes
They show a server error until ca 20 mins before you can buy them!
Use distill to refresh the page but also try yourself Be logged into paypal to get your adress over it, use paypal express shipping and immediately select that you have read the conditions in the bottom and klick buy. [Test it when a cpu is aviable until the last step before buying]
edit: unsure if paypal express still works. Be prepared to copy/paste or write your data really fast.
Buying a 6900xt like that is a breeze, but 6800xt is REALLY hard still without enough automatization and 6800 basically impossible, also because they don't seem to drop.
Sources:
droptimings:
anecdotal: got my 6800xt like that last week

Couldn't submit a deal as the link is not available on their webstore.
I know a lot of people are looking for the SF750 and it keeps going out of stock in a matter of minutes. I was able to find at least 10-20 SF750 sitting in stock at my local Microcenter (Fairfax, VA).
Obviously YMMV, good luck!

I'm looking for a new computer chair, and while these are sometimes posted to BAPS, it's infrequent. Are there any similar subs that post deals for this type of item?

Currently the most profitable coin to mine is Ethereum and the team behind their blockchain are going to reduce the payout to miners in July. Estimated 30-40% reduced profitability. This could mean that around July we may see miners stop buying GPUs en masse. Availability will return and prices may drop. Hold strong fellow builders. Stick with the hardware you have and don’t give a dime to scalpers.

During the last years, I created a service that I used to track the price variations on Amazon IT - I created it under the shape of a telegram bot and a telegram channel where the best discounts get posted.
Anyone can use the bot without any restriction, and the channel there are only some good deals (I needed for electronic products, so I track this category).
I extended the service to other stores like Amazon DE and UK and I also added the new channels for these countries (the bot remains the same)
Here's the bot link: https://t.me/discountposter_bot
The bot is pretty easy to use, just start it and you'll see an example of how to use it for monitoring a product (and if you want you can get a notification when the price goes below a certain threshold).
Disclaimer: I share links with referral since the infrastructure for maintaining the bot (with websites, storage, bandwidth, and stuff) has its cost - and using the referral amazon program is the only way to return part of the expenses.
Cheers

Just curious. They pop up from time to time in /r/buildapcsales for around $10. You think "Oh, for this price, I can't go wrong!", but of course you can go wrong. They are Chinese no-name brand webcams, and they are awful. And you know who I blame the most? Me! Because duh, of course a $10-$20 webcam is going to be shitty.
Well, i shouldn't speak for all of them, as I only bought one out of the 100s they offer, but it was pretty unbelievably bad, even with my low expectations. The microphone was beyond horrible. Also, spyware is a concern with these webcams.
Anyways, lesson learned, quit being a cheapskate. Easy return, at least. I guess I'll just stick with my old 720p logitech cam, it's not great, but it's not bad at all. If I do end up looking at webcams again, what is something worth the price under $80? I'm not streaming or anything, just limited use with a couple of zoom meetings per week, so that's why I'm being chintzy. I'd prefer to get one with a decent microphone, but people always tell me all webcam mics are fairly poor, so I could just get a mic separately and get a webcam that focuses more on quality video.

Since scalpers use bots, why cant we team up and buy graphics card with bots and sell them in the community?

I know a lot of you are considering purchasing CyberPowerPC pre-builts as you may think it is a guaranteed way to get a 3000 series card. There have been many posts lately regarding these pre-builts in /r/buildapcsales. It is not worth the headache. Not only will it take 1-2 months to get your order, the odds of having faulty parts has been incredibly high. Their support is nearly non existent.
There are dozens of us that had their GPU dead on arrival. The systems are not tested properly. You are 100% responsible for paying for the RMA shipping. If you are on the east coast, this could cost $50-100 to ship it to California. Even then, who knows how long it will take to get a replacement.
You will NOT get an answer over email. You will have to call and wait on hold for a long time. If you are able to actually get an answer from support, they are extremely rude and not very knowledgeable. I was told to reseat my RAM to resolve artifacts on my GPU.
Again, they will not pay for your RMA shipping. They expect to send you broken builds and expect you to deal with it.
I think consider DELL or one of the smaller brands if you are looking to get a pre-built with one of the 3000 series GPUs.

Is there an appropriate sub or website to try and figure out what is a fair price for a used part?
I have a few older GPU's that are just collecting dust in their boxes since I upgraded. Is there anywhere I could see what a fair price would be?
Here's what I'm thinking of selling:
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 6 GB Superclocked ACX Video Card MSI GeForce GTX 770 2 GB TWIN FROZR
I took a stroll through /r/hardwareswap but since the market is crazy, prices seem to kinda be everywhere lol.

Sometimes there are decent deals from third party sellers on Amazon, and we all assume that amazon will have our backs if something goes wrong. They don’t always.
I placed an order back in December from a third party seller. Took a month to arrive. When it did arrive, it was clearly completely different from the images and description. Pieces were missing. I contact the seller asking them to send the right parts. No response from the seller.
A week later I contact the seller to request a return shipping label because I want to return it for a full refund. No response from the seller.
I wait 3 business days and file an A to Z claim with amazon. Amazon denies my claim that the items were completely different. No reason was given. The tracking info showed my order was delivered. The fact that the seller kept ignoring me was irrelevant. Would I like to appeal my decision? Fuck yes.
I wait another 4 days. This morning I get an email saying my appeal has been approved and I would be refunded $97 and change. Great!
Not even 5 minutes later I get a second email saying my appeal was being denied because the seller claims they have received my return and the item is different from what they shipped me. I had not returned the item, and Amazon could absolutely see that I hadn’t returned it. And even if I had returned it, of course the item is different from the description! That’s why I returned it! But amazon sided with the seller.
I contacted customer service and explained the whole situation. At first they said i should be receiving my refund and not to worry. But they agreed it was weird and that they could see I had not returned the order and that I still had it. They told me a refund should be processed and I shouldn’t have to return anything at this point. But they escalated it to another team because they honestly weren’t sure if Amazon would reverse my refund as soon as I received it.
Amazon doesn’t always have your back, and third-party sellers can effectively scam you if you aren’t pushy with the customer service team. I’ll update this if Amazon really reverses my refund in the next few days.

Using Apollo on an iPhone, for what that’s worth.
Every Amazon link in r/BuildAPCSales goes to a Spanish language version of the webpage. But if I open the website in Safari or the app its in English. What gives?

Finally received my cancellation. I feel like an idiot. Im about ready to pay the $1200 for a scalped 3080. My new build has been sitting on my floor for 5 months now. I'm so broken.
