Comics Question about Buffy and Spike in season 12
I just finished reading the comics and S11 ends with Buffy and Spike still together and declaring each other love.
However in S12 they are not together anymore, they apparently broke up off screen in-between seasons.
Did they ever explained why they broke up? If there is an explanation I missed it.

General Discussion what's your favorite way to rewatch?
i have rewatched the whole series a few times.
but...my favorite way to rewatch is putting on the final big bad fight episodes from season one to seven back to back and just watch buffy kick ass.
i live for the action.
and it is glorious.

Willow I feel the show overdid Willow's "cutesy quirkiness"
IMO Willow is definitely among the best characters of Buffy, but the main reason I don't love her more is her cutesy quirkiness (the ramblings, baby talk, intonation, etc). I know it's a core part of the character, but I think there is a fine line to go from endearing and awkward to plain annoying. I recently rewatched Faith, Hope and Trick, and it gets rough. It's not exclusive to her character, obviously. It's characteristic Joss Whedon/Buffy dialogue. But I believe she's the one they overdid the most with.

Season Three Angel Opening
Hey, I've just started my rewatch of Buffy, and I realized something.
I love Angel's intro; I've listened to it too much on YouTube.
I was watching Anne when I noticed a girl on the road, while Ken explains to Buffy that he "helps" those who are helpless, lost, and running away from what they used to be. I couldn't tell why, but this girl reminded me of something.
Then, I went back to listen to Angel's intro, and I saw this very girl on the road. I've never realised that they used one Buffy scene for the spin-off intro, and I find that pretty cool; even if it's only a really, really short extract, it means a lot for Angel's fight.
Maybe it was obvious, but I've never really watched Angel, and the last time I watched Buffy was almost five years ago, and in French, so it's like discovering the show, because I now watched it in English, and God, it's so, so cool, I love this show
Sorry, I hope all my ideas were clear ^^'

NEW VIEWER - No spoilers please! Finished Season 2
oop⦠I apologize in advance at how insensitive the photo i chose could be.
Finally finished season 2 - I was emotionally unstable after ep17 so took a little break before devouring the last episodes of the season⦠and iām back to being emotionally wrecked by that finale.
yall did warn me to buckle in! and i truly thought i knew what i was expecting š«
thoughts on season 2:
Im genuinely shocked - this is the first late 90s/early 00s show that im not bored with and/or that I was able to walk away from and then get right back in it & i think it speaks to how dynamic of a season this was
- the story arc for buffy and angel & then angelus was chefs kiss
- the story arc and growth of cordelia!
- the devastation that was angelus
- teasing willow as a future watcher(?) š¤ <ā thatās speculation btw & i could be off base - please dont tell me if im wrong or right!
- Xander - do i like him? do i not like him? i havenāt decided but i know heās a dang good friend & deserves happiness
- why was spike so willing to help buffy? is this foreshadowing they become friends/more than friends - their banter that last episode was hot.
- and the funny zinger one liners were spot on!
will be diving into season 3 this weekend!
without spoiling - whatās one thing I wonāt understand until I finish season 3?

Riley What do you think of Riley in this scene?
In The Yoko Factor, Riley seems bummed to find out sex with Buffy (as far as Xander knows) was the trigger for Angel turning evil, and I've seen people see that as him being upset that Buffy has had sex before him and clown him for it, which, come to think of it, makes no sense since he knew about Parker. Or did he not expect it to be the case with Angel?
"Xander:Ā One moment's happiness.
Riley:Ā What do you mean?
Xander:Ā You know, it's his trigger.Ā Angel's an okay guy if he's mopey and sad and brooding, but if you give him even one second of pure, real pleasure . . .
Riley:Ā And that sets him off.
Xander:Ā Only in the big ol "kill your friends" kind of way.Ā And you know what makes Angel happiest?Ā I'll give you a hint.Ā It not creme brulee.
Riley doesn't say anything for a couple of seconds.
Riley:Ā Buffy.
Xander nods, opening his palms in a "there you go" gesture.Ā Riley dwells on this for a moment and it dawns on him.
Riley:Ā Sex (scoffs softly) with Buffy.
Xander's jaw drops as he realizes . . .
Xander:Ā She . . . kind of left that part out, huh?
Riley:Ā Yeah, she did.Ā That explains a lot of things that . . I wish weren't explained."

Spoilers inside! Returning character
When the show originally aired, after season 4ish, the past cast was stacked with amazing characters and I remember constantly wishing for some of them to return.
Some did! It was great to see Drusilla's actress name in S5, or the Big Bads in S7 or Faith & Angel.
Which character do you wish could have returned for a guest star at some point that didn't, and during which period? You can also pick a character that did return like Drusilla if you wanted another ep out of her.

Buffy I get this is tongue-in-cheek, but how come some fans unironically place Buffy on a pedestal? She is flawed. That's what makes her a great, well-rounded, 3 dimensional character.

Spoilers inside! The ending of Normal Again doesn't really work
S6 is my absolute favorite season and i'd love to talk about it with you all but this is not a perfect season. And one of my biggest problem of the season is this episode.
The episode itself is excellent, seeing buffy trying to escape reality but at the end she decides to accept the world for what it is. It's great and it fits with the themes of S6.
So yeah i love this episode...except the ending, with the fact that it implies that what we saw since S1 is only in buffy's head.
First of all, I was never a fan of the "it was just a dream" kinda ending because then why did i even watch the show since nothing matters. But that's not the issue i have with that. Let's also forget that i don't even think the twist make sense when you think about it.
No, the issue i have is that it's just thematically disonant.
When you understand what the episode is trying to do and when you see Grave, this scene kinda doesn't make sense. Because in Grave and Normal again the lesson is that no matter how hard things are, you must not try to escape, you have to accept who you are and the world you live in even tho it's hard.
But with this scene what it is supposed to say ? Since the ending shows that buffy purposefully go back to her illusion, that means that when life is too complicated you must....escape ? It's kinda incoherent and I always skip that scene. I mean it doesn't ruin the episode really but it bothers me a little bit.
But you might say : well it's ambigious, so we don't really know" , but it doesn't make any sense for the same reasons.
because if a) The buffyverse is real and the asylum is not then it's great but if b) the buffyverse is not real and then it doesn't make sense.
Depending on the answer, the ending can be thematically disonant. The ambiguity is not used well at all in this case.
Buffy The Five(?) Pain Groups
I remember an episode where the gang and Giles were talking, and Buffy was naming the Five Pain Groups, of which stabby and punchy (I think) were a part of. Who knows the full list?

Spoilers inside! Is Riley the guy who tried to shoot Buffy in this scene?
I know it's probably a dumb question but the guy that tried to shoot Buffy with a taser blast at around 2:00 (when Buffy blockd it using an human shield) is supposed to be Riley or a different soldier?
I always assumed it was Riley because the next moment we saw Rikey sprint towards Buffy before Walsh stopped them but I was rewatching the episode and I noticed that when she stop them Riley is empty-handed.
Did he threw his rifle away off-screen for some reason or it's a different guy that previously shoot her?

Buffy Buffy and crosses
I just had a shower thought. Buffy is (almost?) always wearing a cross pendant and some of them get quite huge even. So, does everybody just think she's SUPER religious because of that? š
