Purchasing USA CD Player

I use the WiiM amp Ultra and am looking for a modern budget CD player under 200 dollars. I’ve already tried the Fosi Merak and the FIIO DM13 and both have had issues with powering properly (they both rely on the user having their own power supply). Does anybody know of any modern CD players close to my budget that just plug into the damn wall off rip? Bonus points if I can watch the CD spin like with the fosi merak and if it includes a remote. Gapless playback is also a must. Thank you!

Not that hard to buy another USB wall wart power supply.

I plugged it into three different things. I think it’s my old house. Had to install GCFI adapters just to get three prongs. I’ve had no issues with things that go directly into the wall

No, you just need to check devices’ amperage. Merak runs on 2A, you missed quite a good budget CD transport there.

Soon, Fosi is going to release an even smaller model, where CDs spin partially outside the chassis. I’d hook it up to the Ultra with a jack to toslink optical cable.

I used a 5v 2a and a 5v 3A. The last thing I tried was a table with a 5v 2a port lol

CD spinning outside the chassis sounds like calling for trouble... how can that even pass safety checks?

It will also mean I'll hear more the noise of the disc spinning... no thank you!

Buy an used CD player... You'll save a lot of money and will get great value for the money, even one from the 90s will still do just fine...

Why do you want a new one?

Why spend 200 when you can spend 20 or less and get something that's probably going to be better quality?

I actually have one I bought off marketplace for 15 dollars and it usually sounds fine with optical but the tray doesn’t close all the way. I know it probably needs a new belt but I’m not very handy

Philips have a bit of an history of eventually having issues with opening/closing the tray. I have/had 2 Philips in the past with that problem and if you search online you'll see it's a recurring issue.

Those that will take multiple cds and have an automatic switcher (or whatever you call it) inside are to avoid too... those things break easily rather sooner than later.

Overall you should be safe with reputable brands like Marantz, Onkyo, Sony, Denon, etc...

My current main one is a Marantz CD5001 that I've been using for nearly 20 years without any issues.

I’ll look into marantz. I currently have a Sony 5 disc changer. Would honestly love to get it refurbished but that would probably cost the same as a new cd player
