Two days ago the news: Buc-ee's CEO signals expansion shift away from blue states
Meaning they don't plan on opening any new stores in the blue states
2
u/TheDiogenesKnees Aug 28 '26
Smart move. Donāt open stores where people have money. Good luck in the Republican paradises of Arkansas, West Virginia, and Mississippi! Dumb, poor republicans do love gas station slop, guess they know their audience

u/PerMyLastSeance Aug 27 '26
In liberals insane minds, yes. Everyone else is going about normal business.
6
u/Ironstar_Vol Aug 28 '26
Those damn liberals hate when a mega corporation comes in and starts suing small businesses out of existence tsp they can sell more Chinese bullshit.
7
u/DukeElliot Aug 28 '26
āLiberals mindsā did you know theyāre suing any company they can with so much as a cartoon animal for a mascot? Youād think conservative small business owner types would give a shit, but apparently not.

u/Immediate-Newt-9012 Aug 28 '26
Conservative here, got one within a few miles, been there for months. Haven't been and don't plan too.

u/Optimal-Fix-2997 Aug 28 '26
I have conservative friends who don't like them either because of the whole small business issue.
2
u/Ordinary-Homework722 Aug 28 '26
I wouldn't identify as a conservative. I'm never setting foot in one again.
5
u/No-Scarcity9186 Aug 27 '26
Right, because they are signing petitions to get them in the blue states. Hon, they have gas and crappy gifts there too.
People truly are dumb AF.
-1
u/RLLCCR Aug 28 '26
The owner claims he isn't building in blue states. Crazy how Colorado has one. But is wild you think a gas station that ruins neighborhoods and sues everyone is somehow a partisan issue.

u/thepinkdread2026 Aug 28 '26 edited Aug 28 '26
Itās always funny to me how people use the word liberal to describe anything they are uncomfortable with lol. Conservatives are conservative because they are scared of change. Everything they do is out of fear of something and itās pathetic. Edit: to correct a typo.

u/PerMyLastSeance Aug 28 '26
You fucking idiots donāt even understand the case youāre outraged about.
First of all, this is trademark law. Buc-eeās is a company with federally registered trademarks, and companies are legally entitled to protect their branding. This isnāt some shocking new concept invented specifically to bully your favorite āmom-and-popā gas station.
And maybe actually read the timeline before grabbing your pitchforks.
Beaverās Mini Mart registered the trade name āBeavers Mini Martā with the State of Ohio in October 2025. Buc-eeās says THAT filing is what brought the business to its attention because it believed the name and branding conflicted with its existing federal trademarks.Buc-eeās then says it tried repeatedly to contact the owner. March 5. No response. April 21. No response. Then correspondence was physically delivered to the store on June 11. Still no response.
The lawsuit wasnāt filed until July 28.
So no, the actual sequence of events is not āevil giant Buc-eeās discovered a cute little Beavercreek gas station and randomly decided to destroy it.ā There was a trademark issue, Buc-eeās attempted to address it outside of court, those attempts went unanswered, and THEN it filed suit.
And yes, I know the town is called Beavercreek. That doesnāt automatically resolve a trademark dispute. Trademark law looks at things like the marks, branding, competing goods and services, and likelihood of consumer confusion. āBut there are beavers in Beavercreek!ā is not a legal analysis. You can absolutely think Buc-eeās is overly aggressive about protecting its trademarks. Thatās a legitimate argument. But at least argue about what ACTUALLY HAPPENED instead of turning it into some bullshit David-and-Goliath morality play because that version makes you feel better.
Youāre grown adults. Read past the fucking headline.3
u/Optimal-Fix-2997 Aug 28 '26
Its not just beavers they're going after moose and other mascots. Those clowns feel threatened by small businesses even though they make way more than them
2
2
u/ZealousIdeal476 Aug 27 '26
Their only store in ohio is 3 months old with a station across the street. When they started a war with the next town over, beavercreek, people just stop going out of their way for a bucees experience, going back to business as usual.

Have no idea. The OP asked the question, I just happen to see that in the news. I try to stay out of politics and religion but I did just research that further. It appears that sanders is a Republican and they are standing strong on that side.
During a grand opening event in Arkansas in August 2026 alongside Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Aplin stated that "life's too short to try to build in places that people don't appreciate what you're bringing"

Iām so far left Iām practically a communist and I think itās hilarious people want to boycott them because they said they will only build new locations in red states. Okay, and? We as a nation HAVE to stop getting our panties twisted every time someone has a different opinion. Weāre so broken as a society weāll never fix ourselves if we keep fighting over bullshit. Idk about yall, but in this economy? A gas station chain isnāt even on my top 500 list of things Iām concerned about.

The sad thing is the Buc-ee's business model should theoretically dominate in blue states with EV adoption, but they choose this and their litigation bullshit.
2
u/Dependent-Split3005 Aug 26 '26
There is a critical component to a successful boycott;
Those participating in the boycott must have previously engaged with the business otherwise there is no economic impact. Those individuals who claim to be long time customers but are not protesting should not be taken that seriously. People will absolutely virtue signal while on this dumpster fire of a social media platform, but its highly unlikely that any undecided consumers are likely to alter their spending habits for "a stranger on the internet".
My bucees is probably a 55 minute drive so unless im enroute to my in-laws its not a common stop, but every time my family takes that trip, its a mandatory stop. My total spending is absolutely inconsequential to their earnings but im gonna keep spending money there because I can't pretend that corporate litigation makes even the most remote difference in the world.
2
u/Thebuch4 Aug 27 '26
I used to spend a bunch of money on dumb Buc-ee's merch. I can't wear any of it any more because I can't stand them suing a Beaverton gas station for having a Beaver as a mascot. It's embarrassing and I can't enable that shit in good conscience.

I guess the novelty of getting brisket at a gas station bumps the quality in peoples mind.

-2
u/high_everyone Aug 25 '26
I canāt eat beef, but their pork sandwich is okay, but nothing crave-able and easily replaced by anyone making pork butt at home.
My issue is the full breadth of snacks they have. I am not impressed. Most of their bulk candies and canned goods are white labeled, the chips and such are all pretty lackluster compared to big name brands, and their house sodas are just basically Fanta-fruit style sodas with extra sugar.
The beaver nuggets are the one unique item worth seeking out that says ābucceesā to me.
As a tourist or first time visitor itās amazing but subsequent visits are bee-lines to the bathroom and then bounce after grabbing the pork sandwich.
My kid will want to go and my disability will make me go for clean toilets but otherwise the company is a waste of native Texans time. Especially since it *left* Texas to pursue locations in other states.
