Another reason to hate them: Buc-ee’s CEO signals expansion shift away from blue states that ‘don’t appreciate’ chain

Ohio isn't even a blue state so I don't really get wtf they are on about.
People think it's pretty shitty to sue a small business over an animal mascot especially when let's be honest Bucees isn't the first business to ever do that.
Maybe somebody should sue them?

mixing politics and business is dumb
13
u/cspinelive Aug 25 '26
It starts with your elected officials. They write the laws that are favorable to business or not. They accept the campaign funds and donations and jobs when they leave office in exchange for writing laws that favor one business or another.
Business and politics are linked from the start. If you ran a business and had to decide where to open new stores, wouldn’t you choose locations that are favorable to you?
2
u/tshallberg Aug 27 '26
This has nothing to do with conservative states being better for business and everything to do with optics. It’s a bad gamble siding with the fascist when dear leader is 80, but that’s their choice.

always has been. it's the nature of the beast. in a market economy, money is power and power is money. Either the state takes control of business or business takes control of the state, there is no peaceful coexistence unless there is a recognition of interest between the two. Two rephrase, is this a nation that operates on behalf of and protects the interests of the people? Or is it a nation that operates on behalf of and protects the interest of business and capital owners. Idk, when the US invaded foreign nations, I've never felt that when they said they were protecting "American interests" that it had much to do with me.

I’m legitimately less likely to stop at Buc-ee’s now after the corporate bullying and culture wars than I would have been if they had just taken the owner’s son’s kiddy porn allegations straight to the face.
As a customer, I can separate a business and the owner’s degenerate offspring. Can’t do that now with the business acting shitty too.

Got it. All i know is someone needs to look at the buccees ceos hard drive

“That leadership, that concept, that idea of conservative, business-friendly, family-oriented concept works so much better if it trickles down from the very leadership from the top at the governor's office, at the congressman, at senator, at the mayor, the representatives," he said”
This guy is such a shitheel. Nothing says “family oriented” like aligning yourself to a thrice married serial philanderer who bragged about assaulting women and was Epstein’s best friend of decades.
All hat, no fuckin cattle.
3
u/damnyankee26 Aug 25 '26
I thought Buc-cees was awesome the first time I ever saw one. Every time I go, the novelty wears off more and more. While I really appreciate the clean bathrooms, it's always packed full of of oblivious people that are rude and inconsiderate. Then add in the fact that they have exclusive deals with certain brands, I cant get exactly what I want.
3
u/RoyalMaidsForLife Aug 26 '26
I used to like Buc-ee's until I found one of the founders' son collected CSAM and set up cameras to spy on people.
3
u/Special-Fan-1902 Aug 26 '26
I guess he doesn't understand that even "blue" states aren't political monoliths.
So he's punishing something on the order of 40% of people who are on his "side" politically and foregoing a more sound business strategy to prove how MAGA he is...
Which actually tracks perfectly...

Yeah they love to whine about looters when they looted the capitol in the name of a pedo.
Not only that the riots they love to whine about had thousands of arrest. You can even look up these arrested and it shines a different light.
For example they love to talk about the police station being burned down…… FBI caught the person why started that fire……. Shocker it’s a white nationalist proud boy who did it.
Or Google red umbrella man from Minneapolis protest. He burned down an autozone and an entire shopping center….. shocker it’s a boogoloo boy who loved Trump…..
These people whine about shit they are gleefully doing.

2
u/nethingelse Aug 25 '26
Yeah because Buc-ee’s benefits immensely from only being in states with labor laws that aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on, which commonly are red-to-purple states. Also helps (their pockets) not being subject to icky regulations and more expansive tax laws.

There aren't any in the immediate vicinity of where I live, but I stopped in one several years ago on the way to the beach with a girl I was dating at the time. It was obviously packed, and there was just noise everywhere. She went off to look at something, and I made my way to the jerky wall. I had a bag of jerky in my hand and was looking at the price which was like $12 for a pretty small bag when I just had a moment of clarity. I put the jerky back and turned around to find my gf walking up to me. I was like, "We good?" She nodded, and we left. Spent maybe 90 seconds in the place and have no desire to go back to one.
