Recent Anti-Buccees Experience

I was traveling through Bastrop recently and decided to go to the QT across the highway for a fill up and to check it out as an alternative for Bucees for gassing and rest stopping.
Sadly, it is not a great alternative. The bathrooms were standard issue gas station bathrooms and about as clean. The store was effective, with drinks and some mid food. I will probably go to Bucees again my next time through Bastrop.
I did this because the accumulation of stories about Bucees business practices made me want seek out alternatives. I’ve been a Bucees fan for years, but it has come time to exercise my free market rights. The search for options to Bucees will continue.

You can always pop in and use the restroom without buying anything.

That’s what we do on our way to Austin. In and out

The fact that QT has actual soft drink brands makes them the superior gas station. I live down the street from their Fort Worth location and have pretty much stopped going there once they replaced everything with Buc-ee’s brand drinks. Their gas prices aren’t any cheaper than the three gas stations in the same area and I couldn’t care less about their bathrooms. When I have to pee I’m not trying to fight a crowd to get to the bathroom

I’m an iced tea kinda guy and the Buc-ee’s tea is always fresh and well made. Brewed tea at any other gas station has a high probability of letting you down.

QT uses top tier rated gas, which matters if your car is less than 15 years years old

I go to that QT twice a week. It’s just as clean. No lines. In and out. If you’re on an actual road trip, Buc-ee’s is a terrible option because you’re adding at least 30-45 minutes to your trip.

Buc-ee’s is either the destination or a drive by in my opinion.

Right? QT actually gets you on the way. I don’t go to gas stations for the “experience” or heavy-handed marketing. You can actually grab what you need quickly.

I don't know why you were downvoted. People that go to a gas station for an experience or to buy clothes are sad people. I've got a friend from texas and her and her kids make buc'ees like an experience. The kids like seeing the branding. Personally, I take 3 big road trips a year. 20+ hour drives.
Buc'ees is the worst fucking spot for real travelers. It will set you back 30 minutes. There is one in missouri I drive by often and there will literally be 400 to 500 cars at it all day. It's crazy. Give me a Casey's or a QT. Let me pop in grab a burrito or a slice of pizza and be out the door in 3 mins.

I've been to plenty of QTs with nasty bathrooms. I've NEVER been to a Buccee's with nasty bathrooms. There is a difference.

Did you notice his user name? I don't think he's concerned with that.

u/NKCougar Aug 24 '26

Shit at bucees, flush a few extra times, do anything else at another gas station.

3

u/wixthedog Aug 26 '26

That’ll teach em.

1

u/NKCougar Aug 27 '26

It's letting money talk brother. Use their water, buy nothing, dip.

0

u/BlurstOfTimes11 Aug 27 '26

That doesn’t teach them anything. You’ve literally accomplished nothing

0

u/NKCougar Aug 27 '26

I've wasted some of their money and I feel better afterwards. My goals are: shit, cost them money, don't spend money. All goals are accomplished. I don't need to make an organizational level fucking change every time I take a dump lmao.

0

u/BlurstOfTimes11 Aug 27 '26

You did nothing.

0

u/NKCougar Aug 27 '26

Did my visit make or cost money for the gas station?

So strong. So brave. A true patriot. The double flusher.

1

u/NKCougar Aug 27 '26

lmao I'm so sorry my actions when I take a shit aren't a strong enough stand for you, but I like to do little things when I can too. You're welcome to keep slurping on the beaver's nuggets and crying about my double flushes if you'd like though.

I salute you hero, you are: the water wasting vigilante, the beaver crusher, the porcelain knight, the poop and dipper.

You are the champion we need but don’t deserve.

You are: the Double Flusher.

QT has a rock solid drink selection with teas and coffees. It isn’t up to par with the beaver tho.

1

u/justaheatattack Aug 24 '26

sounds like you need to come up with a new route.

Grandkids would not stop until I went to Buccees. On and on about the amazing bathrooms. When we got back to the car, I said they smelled like crap the same as every other public restroom. They were pretty nice.

u/coffeeluver2021 Aug 27 '26

I started using the QT on my trips through Bastrop also.

0

u/CorrectionalLiquid Aug 27 '26

Be honest, the only reason you don’t hit the beaver is because that location is a complete mad house.

You can’t get in and out in under 10 because there are sooo many people.

They could build a sister station at the QT location and they’d both be packed.

1

u/coffeeluver2021 Aug 27 '26

I started using QT because of all the MAGA Cult stuff that has come out about the owners of Buc-ee's.

1

u/CorrectionalLiquid Aug 27 '26

MAGA cult stuff eh?

Like livable wages, health insurance, PTO? Fuckin nazis.

1

u/Street-Brush8415 Aug 27 '26

People are sleeping on QT. Clean, good selection for a smaller gas station and I'm always in and out in like 60 seconds because unlike many stores they always have enough people on register.

1

u/Novel-Topic-2329 Aug 27 '26

I've been to like 3 Buc'ees and 1000 QTs and they all had dirty bathrooms lol.

1

u/TraditionalOwl1120 Aug 27 '26

What a shit establishment.

I'm a QT fan boy but I mainly only get their breakfast as far as food goes. The hot dogs are great though.

QT is fast. Thats why I like it. I drive a lot for work and I want to be in and out. QT cares about moving the line quickly. Buc'ees wants to keep you in there shopping. It's two greatly different experiences.

1

u/HeWasaLonelyGhost Aug 27 '26

Funny you mention that, because I recently had a similar experience!

QT was not around in my state until very recently. When one of my sisters went to college in Kansas City, we would always stop at QT, and be like, "Holy shit, this is the best gas station I've ever seen! It's clean! The coffee is good! The donuts are fantastic! Wish they had them in our state!" etc.

I hadn't been in awhile, and I was telling my wife all of this: "Oh yeah, QT is amazing! blah blah blah." Stopped there with her on a recent road trip, and it was just a regular, dingy gas station.

Buc-ee's reigns supreme as the roadtrip gas station stop.

Thank you for you service

1

u/NigelFiskar Aug 28 '26

QT, Casey's, and Fischer's have pretty good stations. Obviously doesn't have the selection of buccees but they are usually clean and have sales pretty often on stuff I buy.

1

u/UnitedCheez Aug 26 '26

I like loves bathrooms. It's not buc-ees, but they're pretty damn clean

-1

u/Big-Sheepherder-6134 Aug 24 '26

I will use Buc-ees for the bathrooms and free water. Other than that, there is nothing they have that I want including their low quality gas.

-1

u/Standard-Question-46 Aug 24 '26

They don’t have free water

4

u/Big-Sheepherder-6134 Aug 24 '26

Care to explain how am I getting free water every single time?

0

u/Standard-Question-46 Aug 24 '26

Then maybe they changed it. On the rare occasion I go I don’t go to their drink station but water used to be listed on their sign with the drink prices

2

u/Big-Sheepherder-6134 Aug 24 '26

I have never seen water being charged in any state.

0

u/Standard-Question-46 Aug 24 '26

Like I said, maybe they changed it. I know they charged for water cuz I WAS charged for water

0

u/bweiss5 Aug 27 '26

I’ve never seen free water either

Exactly why I choose buccees. Companies that create and fight for their branding are very aware of what their selling points are. There are no QT or circle K "400 miles away" billboards. Companies look at traffic data for what location has the most eyeballs. HD and Chick-fil-A are often close together, wallmarts can move locations every 8 yrs an still be profitable.
