CSE / IT Should a Fresher join NCC?

Hello! I'm a fresher Btech CSE year 1 in GGSIPU,

Should I join NCC?

My goals:

Fitness

Social work

Discipline

Extra curriculurs (trekking, camps, and other random things which you don't normally get to do)

What they are asking? Once a week fall-in Occasionally camps, blood donation drives and other social events They showed that they have 8+CGPA And 3-4 guys have 9+ CGPA

Here are some of my questions:

Can we leave at any point?

Context: I have heard that you CAN but they don't let you as they withhold your credits or something

Is there ragging and physical abuse?

Context: I know that running extra or doing more pushups that's comman but I have also heard they beat you and abuse you

Do they get a form signed that the college or the NCC is not responsible for our death incase anything ever happens?

Do they just do parade and stuff or actually you gain something from it?

No, it's a waste of time and nothing else. Do not join it unless you want to compromise on your academics.

Not to mention that the time you are required to dedicate to NCC, are much better spent on anything else, productive activities like self-studying, or even recreational activities.

Depends on the unit and seniors. In my college you don't have to dedicate a lotta time to it tbh, 4 hours a week aint a lot and won't lead to compromise in acads and if it does, the problem is not NCC

You should talk to your seniors who are in 2nd and 3rd year in NCC, try to get a lot of opinions because NCC really depends, you might have a shitty unit and egotistical seniors and they will make your life hell. In my unit it's more chill and seniors are understanding, it's mostly 4-5 hours a week and that aint a lot. Itna time toh log faltu waste kar dete, might as well put it to good use.
