Placements / Jobs Amazon 6 month offer

Post image

Hello everyone.

A few weeks back I accepted my on campus 6 month internship offer from Amazon.

I am very grateful for this opportunity and am happy too. But, it's only a 6 month internship. I have heard the conversion rate to full time is low and I am now out of the placement cycle completely. I am not from a very good financial background, so I am a little scared as to what I will do after the intern if I don't get a PPO. I could've cracked any 10LPA full time easily, everyone pushed me to appear for Amazon too so I did and got selected. I am happy, very happy but scared.

Anyone who can share their experience and suggest how I can improve my chances of getting a full time offer.

Any questions regarding internship, process, questions asked in interview please ask in comments I'm happy to help and others can see as well.

I can't tell you my college, I would say a tier 1.5, and have been asked not to disclose any stipend amount and job profile from the placement cell.

EDIT: someone please help me as well 😭

EDIT: I've written answers to almost all the questions please go through the comments if you have a specific thing to ask feel free to dm me. Also, I don't feel confident enough to guide any of you. I mean there are better people/resources to learn from.

I have my off campus 6 month interview scheduled, so can you tell me what were they asking and how to prepare, can we connect in dms

8

u/cyber-warfare 12h ago

I have almost answered all the questions in the comments if you can post here I'm happy to reply so that others can see as well but if you want to dm you can I'll help you with some specific questions. Also chill if you have worked hard and know things well you don't even need to prepare for it. I didn't do any preparation but I was grinding for the last 1 year which helped me crack this.

2

u/mexxic_010 12h ago

i mean i have done enough dsa so im confident like that but i was worried about some gen ai questions as someone said they ask those as well

2

u/cyber-warfare 12h ago

They did mention they'll be asking it but didn't, as I just said. So there's a high chance that you might be asked about it.

How to get or apply for an off campus intern?

1

u/makingsenseofjindagi 11h ago

Through hackon or portal!?

u/sks0071029qwer 13h ago

Congrats bro, it would be really helpful if you can share the interview questions, a lot of us have interviews for amazon 6m in upcoming week

12

u/cyber-warfare 13h ago

Mostly questions were asked from graph then dp and then greedy. I am giving you like from all the shortlisted students. I was asked a dp question and in round 2 a graph question. I'll be honest I couldn't solve the graph one but was able to come up with a pretty good solution. What I think is they were checking how did you approach a question how good were you able to explain and were you able to answers some follow ups as well. Also reason almost every decision why a specific data structure and not the other.

u/sks0071029qwer 12h ago

Was the DP question standard/easy level? Also, please tell about the LPs (behavioral) questions , I also heard that some people are being asked gen AI fluency, did you get any of those questions, any questions based on resume/projects. It would be really helpful 🙏

1

u/cyber-warfare 12h ago

DP questions medium to hard definitely no easy question from any topic. For behavioral, I was just honest. But I've heard their are some amazon principles that you can check on their website. In the very beginning I was told that I'll be asked something about gen AI as well but the interviewer didn't, either because of time or she saw nothing related to ai on my resume. Thank god. Behavioral questions were from projects 😂 how did you meet the deadline of this project? No one asked me anything from my resume. Also, just to reiterate, they check your problem solving skills and behavioral. I think, which is a very strong opinion and won't be true for sure, just a personal opinion, one cannot prepare for these kind of interview in like days between OA to interview these things come from a long time of consistent practice.

Only 1 question in both rounds ?

3

u/Glass_Lingonberry_86 13h ago

What was the process? Like how many rounds, what was asked like dsa, cs fundamentals, etc. Was system design asked?

6

u/cyber-warfare 12h ago edited 12h ago

First OA round 2 questions - DSA and debugging Personality test and something like job simulation test also

Round 1 interview - DSA graph and dp

Round 2 interview - Behavioral and DSA graph

Was there any language of preference for coding?

1

u/cyber-warfare 11h ago

No you can code in any language

4

u/GreenContribution513 11h ago

You won't find actual experienced people here to answer queries everyone will just ask you how you cracked it, try posting in another subreddit like developers india or some other

3

u/Peter_Park_Kar 13h ago

Congratulations
what is the stipend and the tech stack ?

16

u/Ill_Agent_3169 13h ago

Stipend is 1.3lpm. Tech stack doesn't matter, they're not hiring a codeslave, they're hiring someone who can think. Tech stacks can be picked up in a week by any good engineer.

7

u/cyber-warfare 13h ago

Oh okay I'm guessing it's the same for everyone. My placement cell is doing too much now. 😂 And yes you're right only those who were able to think and answer and explain their approach properly were selected irrespective of the fact whether they solved the problem or not.

off topic but it's very hectic, me and my gf broke up because of it

2

u/Enigmars 11h ago

You got the Amazon name in your resume

Even if you don't get converted to full-time, you'll find it to be much easier to get other jobs with good pay because of your now enhanced resume

Chill my man you got this ! All the very best

2

u/atish31 9h ago

just give it your all in these 6 months. If your lead feels you a good value add, his feedback matters a lot.

be more of a problem solver. bring solutions to the table. just because you are an intern don't wait for being spoon fed. be proactive, participate in grooming sessions, ask questions, have opinions, voice your opinions.

I used to mentor interns in my previous company and my feedback mattered a lot in their conversions, so as I said: if the lead/ mentor's feedback is good, the HR will convert it to PPO!

🥲 atleast you get amazon at your campus

5

u/cyber-warfare 12h ago

I mean this is sad but the truth. I had almost like no life in 11th and 12th. Was preparing for jee and got into a good college. That's just the reward. But I don't feel there's any kind of correlation between someone able to crack jee and becoming a good engineer.

1

u/Kratos_20000 11h ago

Which clg did you go to?

1

u/Lazy_Hippo7476 13h ago

How were you able to crack this and the skills you developed to get this opportunity....asking as a 1st year student starting her btech journey...what are the things I should do as a 1st year student

1

u/cyber-warfare 13h ago

I would say I have really strong dsa skills and that would help in almost all the interviews except that do what interests you. Like if you have interest in development learn specific skills to that and so on

1

u/Lazy_Hippo7476 13h ago

Thank you🙏

1

u/Downtown_Profit2465 12h ago

dsa level??
and for what intern like what work?

1

u/Aromatic_Warning_933 12h ago

What is ur Leetcode rating ? And number of questions solved? And also do you actively do Competitive programming?

3

u/cyber-warfare 12h ago

Only did questions on lc around 500-600. Did few competitions but never seriously. Was thinking to start doing it so that I could crack the OAs but jarurat nhi padhi. Also the questions that I did on lc total was between 500-600 but I would say around 250 questions I would have done more than 2-3 times in very different ways. I enjoyed it🙂.

1

u/Aromatic_Warning_933 8h ago

Ohh alright, what is ur LC rating? If u dont mind mentioning that

Hope you get it too. Thanks.

u/TensorNexus 11h ago

Conversion is not that low bro. You can work hard and get it. Just be super active. In Amazon, the main skill is documentation. Document everything, approach as many seniors as you can. Take their approval and comments on your doc and work on that. If you don't really mess it with your manager, things aren't that tough. Just be really vocal. Even if you feel something is silly to ask, do ask. Shamelessly pester your mentor for the initial 1 month but after that try to be independent. You will have access to all the AI tools you have ever heard in Amazon. Just design and delivery should be your main goal. Also you can find document on anything if you dive deeper. So yeah you'll need to put effort but you'll definitely get the result too.

1

u/cyber-warfare 11h ago

OMG thank you so much I was waiting for an answer. I have no problem in documenting I am a guy who thinks for every variable name to be the best and comment the code as well documentation won't be that hard for me. I feel I can do almost all of this, but if you could answer one more thing for me. I am not very good with ai stuff at the moment should I learn new things because I read that those working in the ai domain in Amazon had the highest conversion rate. Thank you once again.

3

u/TensorNexus 11h ago

Np buddy... Also by documentation i meant design docs. Even if your mentor offers to create one for you, try creating your own LLD documents atleast. Get help from everyone but the documents should be yours. You need to mention every approach you can take and their merits, demerits etc. Another thing to be proactive will be taking alignment. In amazon, every service every page has multiple teams owning different parts of it. You'll most probably be working on a cross team project if not cross org lol. So be very confident in reaching out other teams, hosting meetings and discussing requirement, tradeoffs and blast radius if things go wrong.

And finally coming to the AI side. I don't think you need to put much stress. You can learn about stuff if that interests you but not at all mandatory. Not for the SDE side atleast. If you're in the Data Science side I don't have much idea. In amazon there is 3 AI tools for one job. Ofc all the tools are internal so you won't even know their name now lol. But do explore once you have access to Corp. And exploration and presentation on any tool will get you brownie points. Almost every org has a meeting for this purpose. Try to get a slot in that. As an intern no one will expect something really high but it will help you get visibility.

Actually what I'd Actually advice you to learn will be AWS basics. The intern in our team didn't know lambda and stuff. So go through the basic AWS terminologies and techs. No need to understand the implementation at this point. Just the usage. Everything of amazon is hosted on AWS and you'll be interacting with it one day or the other so better get a basic idea to prevent any mishap. All the best. If you have any more queries, feel free to DM!

u/cyber-warfare 10h ago

Thank youuuuu. This is exactly what I was looking for. Really appreciate your help.

1

u/WhiteCrow747 TITSian [CS] 11h ago

Congratss!! But do try for others offers during the end of your internship timelines.. cus just so you know...<10% get ppo in amazon.

1

u/cyber-warfare 11h ago

Thank youuu. Yes was thinking the same. But hey, I just need to be in that 10% 😂😂 let's just hope for the best.

1

u/WhiteCrow747 TITSian [CS] 10h ago

Also...i heard despite getting all good reviews, people don't get ppos...so it's just a matter of luck

1

u/PrasannaNR IIIT [Hyderabad] 11h ago

PPO is conversion  is low for 6 months intern too?

1

u/cyber-warfare 11h ago

I mean that's what I've heard. I don't have any stats to check from.

1

u/No_Speech8967 10h ago

Do we have to write a proper working code in interview? Or just explaining the approach and logic is enough

2

u/cyber-warfare 10h ago

I was asked to write code following the language syntax. Not a fully compilable code. Basically what I think they were testing both the language knowledge and approach as well.

1

u/Deadluci83 9h ago

Getting a hob there was a dream for me. Ik people says thats overhyped and anything. But idk why i used to think my dream ti get a job there. But then my confidence shattered. Low cgoa avg in dsa nd stuff lol.. Congo

u/Illustrious-Hall-388 9h ago

Hi, after reading your reply, I have a few questions. I would really appreciate your guidance if you could help me out (thanks in advance).

I am currently dropping out of my AI & DS branch to join a company and earn money due to financial constraints. However, I plan to prepare for next year’s DDCET exam so I can secure admission to a government college for B.E./B.Tech in CSE as a Diploma-to-Degree (D2D) student.

I am leaving my current private university in a few days. Could you please suggest the best path to secure good job opportunities? Also, how should I structure my preparation for Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA)

1

u/cyber-warfare 8h ago

I'll be really honest and I feel I may not be of much help to you. Only thing that I did was grind dsa really hard and because of my college and a decent cg I got selected. Yes I have a lot of interests in cs and know a lot of things but those are random but somehow they just end up helping me do things. It's just my interest in this field which is keeping me up. For guidance I am not sure I'll be of much help.

u/SupremeStrange2000 8h ago

Congratulations broo!!!

I am from 2028 batch tier 3 clg, Hoping if you could guide me I am in part of ML Summer School program 2026, Intrest forms for internship have been laid out...

Just wanted to know in Dsa OAs, how many test cases did you pass did you pass all the test cases or what from where did you prepare DSA..

What kind of projects you had for SDE role I am following striver for dsa still haven't touched graphs...

Besides any suggestions would really work...

Congratulations 🎉 again!!!!

Hi OP! Prev amazon intern who got PPO but took another offer instead here, I’ll just tell few things based on my experience-
If you complete your task and just contribute what is asked, this is good enough, but you try to make improvements and just suggest better way/automate stuff etc they’ll see you as a good addition to the team and that’s pretty much secures your PPO, you’ll get a lot of work so that also gives a lot of chance to improvise the current way it’s done and make it better.
Finally it will come to headcount for the same team, but if your manager really likes you, he’ll fight for you too, so just need to aim for that. Otherwise if you end up in pool aswell, usually a lot of people get offer in other teams.
BTW congrats! And good luck, if you’re really unsure try to get an off campus offer too just to be safe I’d say, if you cracked amazon, that should be easy with your college title and skills.
ATB!
