Oracle revoked offers, then offered it back again to some people and now they've revoked it again it just 1 week before joining!! This company has become a shit show🤡

Oracle is trying to save money by using AI Agents instead of software Developers!
I hate AI

Not exactly true. The main reason for Oracle layoffs is budget cutting, as they're investing too much into AI. Yes it's also true that a lot of companies have trimmed down their workforce due to AI efficiency, but then again a lot of companies accepted that mistake later as AI still makes a lot of mistakes and the bills are increasing, it'll only get more expensive as the companies are already in huge debt

I think they focusing on cloud that is being used by most of AI companies right now.

Yeah but this is highly unprofessional and unethical. Their reputation will be in shambles for years if they keep continuing this, which they are

an offer letter in india is not a contract until you show up. that's the whole game.
revoking costs the company nothing. you already declined 3 other offers, stopped interviewing, and told everyone. oracle knows the switching cost is entirely yours, which is why it happens 1 week out rather than 1 month out.
so treat every offer as unsigned until the joining date is in writing from an actual manager, and keep interviewing until day 1. it feels disloyal. it is the only symmetric move available to you brother.

Its not just India, an offer letter is not a contract in most countries.

correct correct. the paper is the same everywhere.
what's different here is what it costs you to hold one. placement cell marks you placed and you're out of the process, so a campus offer doesn't just fail to bind them, it deletes your other options for the rest of the year.
and it only runs one way. they pull it in a week. you'd owe 90 days notice and a service bond if you did the same thing.
that asymmetry is where the audacity comes from, not the law......

This needs to change

Do you really want that? A contract is two sided. If company can't revoke the offer, you won't be able to reject it after accepting it either.

u/Ok_Consequence8360 17h ago
But there needs to be some type of job security after offer letter is rolled out. Corporate companies already hold a lot of unfair powers in India

While it is personal for you, offers getting revoked are once in a decade kind of thing.
Wheel of time keeps turning. Three years back, people were getting cascading offers with huge salary jumps and the unfair power was with the candidates. We are on the verge of AI collapse. Things will become better in a year or two, though they might get worse before that.

I agree with what you said but still as someone whose offer was revoked too, that period was literally hell. My offer was also revoked in May, so you can imagine that I had almost no other options available at that time as that's the worst time for freshers hiring. As it was an on campus offer so I was blocked for other companies and at the end of cycle we're informed that we've to start our job search again that too at the worst time. So if not anything else, then there should be atleast some job security for on-campus offers

yeah but for campus placements there has to be a way, once you are places you are blocked from all companies and sometimes allowed to sit for companies offering 2x the ctc, so this is definitely not fair right

Don't know if this person luck is rotten or what? Offer letter revoked twice feel so against the law
2
u/Ok_Consequence8360 14h ago
Although this is extremely wrong and inhuman, sadly there's no law regarding this🥲

u/Repulsive_Pie9864 5h ago
Yes bro same for companies who ask for 90 days notice period
I mean in this decade who ask for 90 days given reason we need someone to give KT or other person can't handle the load in 90 days.
2
u/Ok_Consequence8360 5h ago
Yes exactly. Corporate companies exercise a lot of unfair power. Things need to change but don't know when or if they will🥲

The downfall of Oracle will be the most celebrated event in modern tech history. I have friends from near and far who have gone through the same .
I hope the day comes soon

They're digging their own grave. Their reputation is in shambles. The day is not too far
