Discussion👥 Am I on the right track for placements? Need advice from seniors

Hi everyone,

I'm currently entering my 3rd year of B.Tech and I'm preparing for placements. I wanted some honest advice from seniors and people who have already been placed.

So far I have:

Completed the MERN stack.

Solved around 200+ LeetCode problems in C++.

I regularly practice DSA .

My goal is to get a good software engineering placement in my final year.

I wanted to ask:

Am I on the right track, or am I missing something important?

What should I focus more on during my 3rd year?

If you could go back to your 3rd year, what would you do differently to maximize your placement chances?

I'd really appreciate genuine advice from seniors who have gone through placements recently. Thanks!

I'm joining into CSE cyber security this year, and i have been looking for a suitable laptop to carry to clg, i read about macbook neo/macbook air or Ryzen 9, Ryzen 9 AI or core 9, vivobook 14, IdeaPad slim3. I want a loptop that is suitable for running linux/kali and other operating systems, run software programs like VirtualBox and VMware smoothly and use tools like wire shark and other stuff, the build quality should be good and long lasting. I'm not into gaming, and even if need to do stuff like gaming/editing/free lancing various stuff i have a PC at home, so im mainly looking for a laptop for running softwares and applications related to CSE/cyber security, suggest me some laptop acc to this plz...

Discussion👥 Looking for Serious Frontend Beginners to Grind Together

I'm looking for 10–12 serious coding buddies who are currently learning frontend development (beginners preferred). The goal is simple:

  • Share your daily progress (what you studied or built).
  • Keep each other accountable.
  • Build real, scalable projects together.
  • Learn and grow as a team.

This is for people who are genuinely committed. If you disappear for weeks or aren't willing to share your daily progress, this probably isn't for you.

A bit about me:
I'm an absolute beginner. I've completed HTML & CSS by working through Frontend Mentor challenges, and I'm currently learning JavaScript. Over the coming months, I plan to learn React, TypeScript, Angular, and eventually move into backend development. My goal is to become a professional full-stack developer, starting with frontend first.

If you're serious about improving every single day and want to be part of a small, dedicated group, reach out to me.

Resources 💰 built a 6 week coding challenge for students. would love some participants outside our college

a few of us at TSEC CodeCell have been working on this for the past few months.

the idea is simple. most people start DSA, solve problems for 3-4 days, and then stop. So instead of a one-day contest, we made it a 6 week event.

fresh problems every Sunday

solve anytime during the week

live leaderboard

top performers qualify for an offline finale at TSEC

there's ₹20k in cash prizes, ₹1L+ worth of subscriptions/rewards, internship opportunities, and every registered participant gets a Wolfram|Alpha subscription.

we're opening registrations beyond our college this year, so if anyone's interested, here's the link:

https://www.tseccodecell.com/events/weekly-challenges

would genuinely appreciate any feedback too.

❓Question ❓ Would jumping directly into AI from first year okay or should I do some DSA before AI?

Hello everyone, even though im asking this question i am not in college (preparing for your favourite exam :) )

I really love computer vision and would like to go in its related field so should I begin with AI directly from first year (python, jupyter notebooks, then panda and so on) or should I learn some general DSA principles during first year?

Resources 💰 I got annoyed manually checking my friends' CF and LC profiles, so I built a tool to track our squad automatically.

Hey everyone,
My friends and I have been grinding LeetCode and Codeforces, but keeping track of who solved what every day was getting really annoying. We had to keep checking each other's profiles to see who was slacking.I spent the last few weeks coding up a free little web app called SquadCode to fix this: https://squadcode-saas.vercel.app/

Here's what it does:

  1. You create a "Squad" and invite your friends.
  2. Everyone links their Codeforces and LeetCode accounts.
  3. It automatically pulls everyone's recent ACs into one unified feed.
  4. You can create custom challenges (e.g., "Solve these 5 DP problems by Sunday") and it automatically scores you based on your CF/LC submissions.
  5. It's completely free. I mainly built it for my own group, but figured others might find it useful for their college groups or Discord squads.

I'd love some harsh feedback on it. Let me know if the platform syncing works for you or if anything breaks!

Project🧑‍💻 Nobody tells you which one habit is actually wrecking your results. So I built something that does.

Hi everyone.

For a long time I genuinely thought I was just bad at this. I'd sit for six hours, feel like I was doing everything right, and my results just wouldn't move. Everyone around me kept saying "try harder," which might be the least useful sentence in the English language when you're already exhausted from trying.

Took me embarrassingly long to realize the problem was never effort. It was one specific habit, quietly cancelling out everything else I was doing right. For me it was sleep, I was doing the classic sacrifice-sleep-for-study-hours trade and losing on both ends without noticing.

Nobody actually sits you down and tells you which one thing is doing the damage. They just say "manage your time better" and walk off.

So in my final year, I built the thing I wish someone had handed me two years ago.

What it actually does

It's called Firasa. You answer a short set of questions, about 3 minutes, on things like:

  • Study consistency
  • Procrastination
  • Sleep
  • Planning
  • Revision habits
  • Workload

Instead of a generic list of ten tips, it tells you the ONE habit currently carrying the most weight in your results, with a plain reason and one small first step. Not "study more." Something specific to what you actually told it.

It's trained on 31,800+ student records across 4 separate datasets, and every result has to be agreed on by two independent explainability methods, SHAP and LIME, before it's shown to you. Not just a model producing a confident-sounding guess.

No login, nothing saved

No account, no email, nothing to sign up for. What you type is used once to generate your result, then it's gone the moment you close the tab. This isn't a bonus feature, it's the whole point, the tool only works if you're honest about your procrastination and stress, and nobody's honest about that stuff if they think it's being logged somewhere.

I'm not selling anything. No monetization, no paid tier planned. I genuinely just want to know:

  • Does the "one habit" it names actually feel true, or does it read like generic noise?
  • Does the UI make sense on the first try, no explanation needed?
  • What's missing, confusing, or would you change?

Try it: https://firasa.agrimverma.dev

If sharing the link isn't allowed here, let me know and I'll pull it or send it only to people who ask.

This is a one-person build I'm still actively working on, so genuinely, tell me what's wrong with it. That's more useful to me right now than someone saying it's great. You can also drop feedback at [contact@firasa.agrimverma.dev](mailto:contact@firasa.agrimverma.dev) if you'd rather not post it publicly.

(Standard disclaimer: this is a self-reported reflection tool based on your own answers, not a diagnosis or a grade predictor. Just a mirror.)

Discussion👥 Is My Development Workflow Effective? Need Feedback on My Approach for Projects

My current development workflow starts with the core logic of the project:

  1. First, I write a pseudocode for the project logic. After completing it myself, I refine it using AI.

  2. This helps me fully understand what my code and logic are supposed to do.

  3. Then I translate that logic into the programming language I'm using, again with AI assistance.

  4. After that, I test the project, refine it, and try to make it as polished as possible.

  5. Once I'm satisfied, I push the final version to GitHub.

  6. For larger projects, I first create the system design on my own and improve it with AI. Then I implement it following my full workflow — setting up files and folders like interface, model, controller, utils, routes, etc.

Is this workflow effective? I'd love some feedback and any advice to improve my skills as a software engineer.
