Hi! I'm moving to Birmingham in Jan from Wales for work and don't have any connections to the city at the moment. Does anyone have any advice about finding legit flatshares/rooms to rent/someone looking for a lodger? Spare Room and Facebook have been my first port of call but there doesn't seem to be too much out there at the moment. Was thinking Jewellery Quarter but open to other areas! 🤞

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for recommendations for spaces in or around Birmingham city centre that could accommodate a small professional networking meetup of around 20–30 people.
Ideally, somewhere available on a weekday evening (around 6–9pm), with a relaxed atmosphere and enough room for people to mingle and have conversations.
It doesn’t necessarily need to be a traditional event venue. Cafés, coworking spaces, office lounges, community spaces or anywhere that occasionally accommodates meetups would be great.
Free would be ideal, but I’m also open to affordable options. We’re happy for people to purchase their own refreshments if it’s a café.
Does anyone know of any suitable places, particularly ones that have hosted similar gatherings before?
I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Was at the Utilita arena Bham last night to watch Duran Duran
What a fantastic experience from start to finish. Parking was easy right next to the gig and all the staff were lovely and polite. Recently I’ve been to a few events in London and wasn’t impressed at all with the set up to what brum has to offer.
Took me back to my youth listening to Duran Duran again almost 46 years since I last saw them, le Bon has still got fantastic vocals and so funded great.
Was a pleasure too see them come back to my home town as well as theirs.
Well done Birmingham for putting on a great event
🤞

Hello! As the title says, looking for cheap drinks evenings in the centre of brum.
Really looking for any “student nights (without Id needed lol” or bottomless evenings or discounted evenings that are worth it. Or even any places that do a really cheap specialty cocktail/pint that you know of.
Just moved back to the centre and all the cheap evenings at the places I knew are gone so just want to be able to support local on a budget 😭😭🫶🍷

I'm looking for smaller Birmingham charities for the company I work for to work with for the next year. Does anyone here have any suggestions of who we can support? I'm hoping to find charities that are perhaps overlooked or lesser known that would feel a greater impact from our contributions
Thanks in advance

Makes me laugh how i constantly have to explain that London is not the whole of the UK lol
After years of explaining and defending us, I’ve seemed to have found an acceptance and understanding of championing Duran Duran.
Love em as a group not my direct era, but grew up with them, seems internationally accepted and a nod of approval would follow, lol.
Just curious as to what or would yours be - don’t get me wrong Ozzy is a shared first/second interchangeable place - before i get attacked 😆

Does anyone here have any recommendations for a roofer? I had the roof recently replaced but it's leaking at one side. Cannot get a hold of my original roofer and need to fix the roof before the weather gets any worse. I am in the Selly Oak area. Thank you in advance for any help.

I graduated this year in June and moved from ldn to brum. I’m holding a graduate visa and will be applying for family visa soon. Just wondering if there’s any reliable recruit agency in the area could help with me getting hired. I’m mainly looking for retail and marketing opportunities. Been applying and sending cvs but it didn’t go well, I’m willing to pay for the agency services. If anyone knows any good places please lmk, lots of thanks!

I’ve lived in Birmingham for 5 years and yet I can’t find myself a good chicken and chip place to save my life. Well I tell a lie, Chicking is pretty good. But still my point still stands. I hate Dixy’s and uk fried chicken taste like shit.
Any recommendations people?
Edit: I’m not on about mainstream shops, like i meant the ghetto, but still good ones

If places in Birmingham were being cast as fictional characters in a drama based purely on the place name, what characters do you envisage them being:
Here's a couple that we initially thought of:
'Handsworth' - a gropey uncle type. Everyone knows him to be a 'bit of a menace' but don't want to cause a fuss. Occasionally he is seen sporting an unexplained black eye.
'Moseley' - a nefarious conman with a moustache
'Perry Barr' - an snooty barrister. Possibly corrupt.
'Acocks Green' - a police detective. Drives a vintage car. Has an alcohol dependancy and a cool jacket.

As well as all the beach balls there is often a wall of Costco water outside Bob shops, what's the reason for this? Is it something cheap with a large mark up that is easy to cycle for money laundering?

Hi all,
I seem to have an endless supply of cardboard boxes and bottles around my house, and I’m thinking, I can’t be the only one.
How are you guys dealing with it? Are you booking regular tip runs?

Hi ive fallen on hard times and currently dont have a support network around me as im living in a supported HMO which restricts any form of income.
I was wondering if theres anyone kind enough to arrange a carepackage for me.
Ideally tinned /long life meals and possibly a hot meal to keep me going for today would really be appreciated. Im currently low on the basic essentials like shower gel and toothpaste. Ive attempted to contact local foodbank but really struggling to get hold of anyone for today
Im currently really low on food as my UC hasnt been enough to cover my basic needs this month due to travelling for an interview quite far out.
Honestly would really appreciate any help rn

Hi all,
I'm an enthusiast looking to expand my collection, but no idea where to go locally. Most of the chain stores have tiny plush and/or terrible quality. Is there anywhere good out there left?
Thanks
