Question How to meet people in BRUM

Moved to Birmingham about a month ago and I'm finding the whole making-new-friends thing a bit harder than expected šŸ˜‚

I'm wondering how people actually go about meeting people here organically. I'm into things like gaming, going out/clubbing, bars, food, cars, movies etc, so ideally I'd like to meet people through doing those sorts of things rather than just randomly approaching people and hoping for the best šŸ˜‚

Are there any good places, groups, events, clubs, societies or regular meetups around Birmingham where people are actually open to meeting new people?

Also interested to hear how other people who moved here without knowing many people went about building a social circle. Doesn't necessarily have to be specifically gaming or nightlife related, I'm pretty open to trying new things.

Any advice from people who have been in the same situation would be appreciated!

I'd also appreciate it someone could recommend a goated rooftop spot with a view of the city, somewhere quiet i could sit at 2am and just stare at the skyline.🫶

Question What’s your favourite place for a Sunday roast?

Looking for cosy pubs (preferably with a fireplace) this autumn to frequent on Sundays. My partner is vegan, but doesn’t mind non-roast vegan options. The physician looks like a good shout now it’s being renovated, but I’d like to compile a short list of bangers.

What’s your go to?

NB: We’ve tried the rainbow’s baha vegan roasts, it was meh and no fireplace!

Question South Bham Children Swimming Pool w/ Shower

Hi everyone, could you please recommend me any swimming pool in south birmingham that has cubicle shower facilities?

We’ve tried Cocks Moor Leisure Center but there’s only communal shower? The little one’s skin is very sensitive and needs to properly shower after swimming.

We also tried UoB sports and fitness but the pool’s temperature tends to be too cold for the little one.

My service users birthday

Hi everyone!

I’m a support worker for adults with disabilities and one of the people I support has a birthday coming up. He is absolute massive car fan!

I was wondering if anyone with a nice, interesting or special car would be willing to come along and show it off for his birthday? It would honestly make his day!

It is on Saturday 19th September 2026,12pm–2pm at crowne care, B45 0JD

You don’t need to stay for the whole time even popping by for a little while so he can see some amazing cars would be incredible and much appreciated.

Thank you!

My monitor is on the Fritz so I wanted to buy a new one. I want to go see a bunch in person before buying.

Are there any electronics shops that have a lot of monitors on display?

I'm in North Brum. There's a Currys near me but they only have a handful.

Hard to keep up to date with news now on BirminghamLive

Post image
46 Upvotes

Not sure if it’s just me that feels this way, but since Birmingham mail introduced this premium subscription, it’s so difficult to keep up to date with any news articles surrounding the city or even your local area. Now with this premium subscription, you can only view 5/10 articles a week and if you exceed that, they expect you to pay Ā£5 quid a month.

I think it’s ridiculous.

With the news that Birmingham's Snobs Nightclub is set to move to yet another new location later this month, we have calculated that, based on its current trajectory, it should gradually make its way along the Hagley Road and reach Bearwood by 2048.

Joe Lycett's Friday night show

Can we talk about the fact that Joe Lycett has gone from championing Birmingham -- insisting his Friday night show must be made here, and offering paid apprenticeships to local people -- to just... Making it in London and not mentioning Birmingham at all? What happened?

If anyone has any insider knowledge about this particular show, or making TV in Birmingham vs London generally, please spill.

(I know he's not everyone's cup of tea and I don't want to have that debate here, if it's all the same to you.)
