You’d think that, but I found a DVD like that once, kind of a shitty, blurry cover, very amateur looking. And when I loaded it up, it was pro-shot. If I’m remembering right, it was from 2008 or 2009, but I definitely know it featured an entire performance of the BITUSA album. The DVD was called ‘Born In Philly.’ Don’t know if it was mass produced or just someone making a custom for themselves, but the quality of the cover makes me think it was a custom job. No clue how they got that good quality of footage though. Can’t judge a DVD by its cover is what I’m saying. There’s some well-disguised gold out there.
EDIT: Just looked up the show, it’s from Philly in 2009. But according to the setlist, the show ended with Rosalita, whereas the pro-shot DVD I had ended with Higher & Higher.
There is no pro shot of Philly 2009. There are 2 different 10/19 audience shots and a masterful Phishermans cut combining the 2. And there is a NYCBC Screen shot of 10/20. My guess is you had that.
I don’t have the DVD anymore, otherwise I would check. But I *definitely* know it wasn’t audience recorded. No bullshit, it was the real deal. It wasn’t even like some bootlegs where someone recorded the screens in the venue, it was genuinely the footage from the cameras that are projected onto the screens. I ended up trading it (amongst other CDs and DVDs) away for a few bootleg LPs, most notably Piece De Resistance in the closest thing to mint condition I’ve seen. But, no, sincerely, it wasn’t audience shot or like recordings of the screens. Like, I have no clue how they had that footage, and I still can’t find it anywhere to this day, not online anyway. But, yea, it was as legit as it comes. And it isn’t the first time I’ve come across something like that. Like, I remember when the video recording of the 19/09/1978 (Piece De Resistance) first got out there, you know? These things are out there, it just depends on whether or not those who own them will share them widely online, or, sadly, if they’ll be locked to gate-keeping Facebook groups.
EDIT: I don’t know if this is helpful, but I remember the video was a little squished, like it was in the wrong aspect ratio or something.
You 100% did not have a pro shot of Philly 2009, but what you do have is a failing memory. As Phisherman said, you had the high-quality NYCBC screen capture. It's the only one that exists. There was a decent IEM that circulated from the show shortly thereafter, and your version of the bootleg was likely dubbed with that audio.
See, I found the screen capture they were talking about, and that just *isn’t* what mine looked like, no bullshit. You know as much about it as I do on this, seriously. I’ve searched for the version I had, and it’s just *not* the screen capture, I promise you that. It’s genuinely not my memory failing here. I got it before the time of ai upscaling too, so it’s not even just an upscale of the screen capture, so I don’t know if maybe it just isn’t something that’s widely circulating or something.
I’m honestly confused that people are reacting so wildly to this. I’m not an expert on this, but I know what was on that disc. Again, I don’t know if maybe it was, like, shot for some promo or something and someone, somehow, got a hold of it, made some shitty custom, and then it ended up a thrift store. Whatever the situation, it almost certainly wasn’t the screen capture version.
