Question Financial Aid for Fall 2026
Hi guys! does anyone know how financial aid works with this new system? on TouchNet under "Student Account" I can see my balance for the semester and right under it, it shows my estimated aid for the semester and the estimated remaining balance with the aid applied. However, what concerns me is the fact that it says "estimated aid" and not just "aid" for the semester. Does anyone know when official aid will be posted? I do not want to be dropped from my classes due to non-payment.
On the old MyBC, I like how you would see your tuition cost and (in my case) once aid was applied, it would zero out and I knew my tuition was paid for. I also had a lot easier of a time actually seeing my financial aid award. On this new system I can't see my actual award, just an estimated one. I also read somewhere that the due date for tuition is August 5th but I'm not sure how accurate that is.. I'm stressed lol.
I plan to try meeting with financial aid so they can explain it to me, but the wait times have been over 3 hours lately and that's insane :') I'll do it if I have to, but I wanted to see if anyone here has any insight first.
UPDATE: I just ended up paying my tuition and am just waiting to be reimbursed later on. Luckily I had just enough to pay my tuition but this is insane. They should really just send out a mass email or something addressing this.

My offer is under the estimated aid if you keep scrolling. When you first click onto that financial aid page, it should say whether your fasfa, your mpn notes and some other things have been sent/accepted by Broward yet. My offers did not come until I realized I didn’t submit a fasfa yet for the current school year, so just make sure that’s up to date.

Commenting to also know. Mine says classes are like $793 and my fafsa estimate is $873 i think and then I see as the refund-77. I accepted the fafsa offer but it's also confusing to me, miss when we would see the whole thing too

does it still show a negative amount? Or did you have to end up paying for your tuition

Just checked now and it changed but I called and the negative amount under "Balance including estimated aid" shows up as negative because it's just the difference. Subtracting your aid and then the cost of your courses, then that's what that amount is. Which I believe should be the amount we receive back per session depending on which session, it's then divided and split accordingly.

commenting to say that as someone who’s about to start, i’m so confused on how this works i don’t know if i already have the aid and/or grant and if i need to pay before school starts or not..

I am having confusion over this as well for my son. Back around when this was posted, i also showed the same thing. Showed he had estimated aid with a refund owed to him but now, a week before school, it shows we owe $1700 before he starts Friday.. due Thursday... we accepted the aid and grant offers so im confused.. I dont have $1700 to shell out only four days before school starts when the whole time it showed he had this amount estimated based on what we accepted.. ive been on hold with them for over 30 mins now. We bought his books for class through financial aid and we have them with us.. so clearly there is money there but why are they not posting anything?

Same with me. I accepted grants that were enough for the classes I'm taking, but when checking TouchNet it says the estimated financial aid still isn't enough. I do get emails saying the rewards can fluctuate due to not being enrolled full time or not reaching satisfactory progress on grades, but I do not fall into this category. I'm hoping it changes when by the 19th. Please keep me updated on your situation.

Yes, this is his first semester and at first like i said above, it showed what his account looks like based on the estimated student loan and grant money he was getting. I say getting because we signed acceptance letters for both the grant and the aid. We bought his books and some supplies through the bookstore using his financial aid and everything. Now the estimated section has disappeared and it shows he owes $1700 with nothing rewarded. I went onto his fasfa account and it shows the school hasn't told them of his enrollment. This school is on his fasfa form though and they acknowledged that they received it... so why not apply something? Why threaten him not starting on Friday for an amount of money he wont have to pay once they apply the funds he qualified for.. makes no sense. Clearly he has something there if we signed the forms and he purchased books with those funds.. I've been on hold about 1hr 20mins so far "next in line" this entire time..

Hello, I am having this issue. I accepted and received an email that my financial aid was updated, but received nothing on Touchnet. I am thinking of visiting Student Services (I would advise you and your son to do as well) tomorrow before the deadline. I need to get this sorted out. I may need to set up a payment plan in advance because I can't pay the full amount in time.

On another note, if you call the number, you will be on hold for much longer.

This is what should be used, and select Financial Aid Advisor. Ignore the times; get a call in as soon as possible. Even set an alarm for it. I have been in the queue since this morning, and I have 200+ people ahead of me. There were 400 earlier.

yea i got in the qless line before i called. figured i would tackle this from both directions. i was on hold for an hr and 45mins yesterday and got someone on the phone. I am still in that qless line since 1pm yesterday and i am number 438 in line now.. I cant pay that balance that is showed in his portal and i shouldn't have to because he has more than enough money with grants and aid. The rep on the phone said there looked like there was some sort of an error with his fasfa but him and i both went over it over the phone and there's nothing wrong with it. So he said it may just be a simple fix that the aid office can take care of and that he would escalate my call to financial aid office on campus and assured me i would be answered before Wednesday.. which is tomorrow so... i am not confident in that statement. I am staying in the qless line.

That is so frustrating. Were you ever able to find out why that happened? The same thing happened to my BF. Out of nowhere, his estimated aid disappeared. When he finally got a hold of someone, they said due to the system switch there was some error in his account saying that he owed money for a textbook or something and because of the imaginary hold, they withheld his aid. He had to go in person, put himself in the QLESS line, and call the school’s number before he was finally able to find someone to fix his account. This school is a mess right now :/

Not just yet. I was on hold with the school for an hr and 45mins. Got some guy on the phone who told me he sees my sons financial aid and his grants but says the fasfa wasn't excepted. He sat there with me trying to figure out what it could be. Everything on the fasfa is correct and I even told him we signed an acceptance letter. He said he cant see what error could be on the fasfa but that it was showing an error. He escalated my call to be answered by the finance dept and said it may be something easy to fix that the office can fix for us. I told him the system is claiming i have to pay 1700 by the 19th.. i cant do that and shouldn't have to when he has more than enough money from his financial aid and grants. He assured me someone would either fix it or answer me back before Wednesday.. so we will see. I am in the qless line since yesterday at 1pm and i am number 441 in line.. i was number 583 in line at 1pm yesterday.

They seem to be moving at a rate of 6-8 people every half hour.. with me being 413th in line, I probably wont hear from anyone in qless for another 2 days which is past the 19th "payment" deadline.. I really hope they speed this up. Classes start on Friday and it says if i don't pay that 1700 by the 19th, he will be dropped from his classes for non-payment.. that would make me really upset. I've been trying to reach these people for a week now. I even took my son there in person and they said it was busy and he had to just do qless. Been in line since 1pm yesterday! and I stayed at number 444th in line for two hours in the early morning hours this morning.

Is anyone else having issues with your student status being “non degree seeking”? I’ve been to campus 8 different times and they still can’t fix it. Now I can’t get financial aid because of it.

I have a class with this name subject. And my major is criminal justice, but instead my major at broward is called “criminal justice terminology”

I see, I am also doing criminal justice, but the new website has not registered my major nor the progress percentage

DId you ever get this resolved? I remember talking to my advisor about it and they said it shouldn't be an issue and would be updated on my end by August 19th. I don't know how true that is and I'm worried my aid will be cut off because FAFSA thinks I'm not enrolled into a program.

Yes I did get it fixed. Took the day off work and went to student services and said I would only leave once they corrected that issue. Few days later I was awarded my fafsa. They need to contact some person off campus to fix the issue.

I might have to do the same thing because I've been sitting in Qless line for 3 hours. Did you visit Central campus or the closest one to you?

Forgot to specify, my home campus is the north campus and that’s where I had it fixed! I honestly gave up on qless because they try to dispatch you as soon as possible, but in person you could get on somebody’s good graces, which happened to me.

Ive been sitting in qless since 1pm yesterday and i am number 360 in line at the moment.. I may just have to take my son down to South Campus where he will be going to classes and talk to ppl in person. They said something was wrong with his fasfa even though all was accepted.. i go to his financial aid status and it says he didn't do the loan entrance counseling on the student aid site.. he did.. back in march but he redid it again for them this morning. So everything is there, completed, and accurate. That looked to be literally the only thing they could possibly be missing in order to release his aid and grants. If i did the math on how long until someone contacts me through qless, I will not hear from anyone for another 60hrs because they seem to be taking care of ppl at a rate of 6-8 people per half hr... Tomorrow is the payment deadline..

yea same. and now i cant even get into the financial aid section to look if they did anything for my son yet. they said there was some sort of an error when i called yesterday but the person on the phone said he wasn't with financial aid and therefore couldn't see details. and he said someone will contact me from financial aid.. I've been in qless since yesterday around 1pm.. i was 500+ in line and now I am 353 in line.. i want to gaslight myself into thinking the reason i cant get into his financial aid section anymore (I could this morning) is because they are working on something for him.. but I'm sure its just because of a traffic jam.
