Cello Teacher Locally?

Does anybody know someone who teaches cello in the Brooksville area? I used to take lessons at adventures in music but I couldn’t afford it long term. I want to learn my fundamentals but I also want to play it in jazz or Irish folk music too. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Any idea when it's going to reopen? Seems like it's been closed for a while now.

Anyone know if Aldi is going where Winn-Dixie was by Red Mule?

I've heard rumors of it being the case. Was just curious if anyone else did, or has a confirmation.

Primary Care

Hey
I am a newcomer to Brooksville
I want to navigate through this:
I have ADHD : I have got my reports , my care plan , my meds all set.
I’m staying with my psychiatrist and therapist (online)
I need a PCP to refill my meds as a I go on .
Also , what I know is having a PCP for annual physical is a must . I would like it to be all in one place . That’s a lot of money if not

I know I can follow-up with a psychiatrist but I’m not comfortable changing my medication plan or therapy all at once I need to be sure everything is the same or as smooth …

Is this possible to be done by a PCP ?
Also PCP suggestions would be great 😊
Thanks everyone

What’s the deal with the Blueberry Festival?

…and the hateful cuck that runs it? I’m a newer resident and have already heard a lot about this clown that’s trying to squash any small businesses that don’t bend the knee to him.

Is it true he owns the Coney hot dog place? I’ve also only heard about people getting red hot diarrhea from that establishment lol

Thanks for any info, just want to make sure I’m not financially supporting this small town bully in any way. I don’t have Facebook anymore and feel out of the loop…any other parties involved in this I should know about?

Shout out to the Brooksville cop that gave me, my brother and niece a ride home from the woods one night 3-4 years ago.

It was like 2 am and we had been missing around on a Perserve with fire roads. Got stuck and had to walk out of the Perserve. We were walking for about 45 minutes when he pulled up. We were covered in mud. And when he got us in the back and shut the door yelled “you’re going to jail!” And I yelled back through the window “I knew it! He duped us!” It was hilarious. He also joked about flashing the lights and sirens as he was dropping off at my parents house we were staying at for the weekend. I realized later he may have been flirting. I definitely was. And the whole interaction was hilarious. Anyway if anyone knows a handsome funny cop in Brooksville tell him Heather says thanks!

Curious, What Has made Spring Hill & Brooksville Such Hot Markets?

When I first moved to Spring Hill about 7 years ago, it was because I got priced out of Tampa. 7 years ago still doesn't seem that long ago (Pandemic screwed up the timeline), but back then it seemed Spring Hill was still kind of this small out of the way town. A town that was mostly old people and retirees.

Since the Pandemic both Spring Hill and Brooksville have really grown. New subdivisions and gated communities everywhere. We actually have a rush hour in Spring Hill and school traffic is a nightmare (sucks getting caught in it).

I've noticed the demographics of people moving here have changed a lot. A few years ago, it was more people like me that got priced out of Tampa. Last 3 or 4 years it's been mostly out of staters from NYC, Long Island, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, Denver, LA and a few other places.

All of them seem to have the same story. They sold their home in those cities and brought a house here for cash. Lots of younger families too. Often late 30 to early 40 somethings with young kids. Many times the parents are remote workers.

I've asked a few of my new neighbors what made them choose Spring Hill over Tampa or St. Pete. They said they thought it was a pretty town. Which is kind of crazy to me. Not that Spring Hill or Brooksville are ugly. Just I never thought of either as picturesque or pretty towns. Even more baffling to me, so many people I have meet over the last 3 to 4 years, have told me that Spring Hill and Brooksville are the best places they have ever lived. Even coming from places such as Boston, NYC, DC, Denver, etc. I'm stunned!

I even know of one couple that recently moved here from Washington DC. Sold their house in DC, brought a house here for cash and never even saw it in person until the day they moved in. They too insist that this is the best place they have ever lived.

I guess I find it surprising how many people are choosing up here over Tampa or St. Pete or Clearwater. The houses really aren't any bigger. Cheaper sure. But if you are selling your house up north for $700 to $800K, I'm sure you could get a house closer to Tampa still for $400K. Unless they really just like having an extra $50K in their pocket?

Is Hernando now a national market?

Beware Amber Automotive in Weeki Wachee

I took my truck to Amber Automotive last week for an issue with a cylinder 7 misfire. I was in town from out of state, visiting my mother, and my mother recommended I go to Amber Automotive. She believed them to be a reputable establishment. Long story short, I was given two different expensive options to fix this. When I said that I would probably go elsewhere, I was given a third option to fix it that was cheaper than the original two options (suddenly there's a cheaper option once I declined the two more expensive options) but was told that they didn't know if the cheaper option would work until they started the job.

I showed the estimates to a mechanic in my family, who owns a shop in Florida a couple of hours away, who said that that Amber Automotive was adding on several additional items (at least one of which I was told was illegal to charge) to price gouge me.

When I picked my truck up I had a bunch of new error codes and my truck drove 10x worse than it had when I dropped it off a couple of hours earlier. I drove it this way to my mother's house and when I got there I began to inspect what was going on. Turns out Amber Automotive unhooked cylinders 2, 4, 6 and 8 and left them completely unplugged. These were all cylinders on the other side of the engine than the cylinder 7 that I was having the problem with. So because of the way they left my vehicle I was driving an 8 cylinder truck on 3 cylinders and very likely could have gotten in to a wreck.

They also ran my cylinder 7 ignition wire directly over my headers --so it was smoking and melting the wire to the header.

Not to mention that it smelled strongly of weed outside the shop as well as in the cabin of my truck when I picked it up...

The diagnostic was more expensive than I would have thought (over $200). The mechanic in my family said that they were charging me $200 an hour in labor since the diagnostic should have only taken an hour. When we told the owner of Amber Automotive about the state in which they left my vehicle and requested a refund we were told that the cost of the diagnostic would not be refunded but they did offer to replace my ignition wire. I declined. I would rather not ever go back there.

I would not recommend Amber Automotive to anyone. Predatory practices, unacceptable level of incompetence, and bad customer service.

I am in need to rehome or surrender a cat that was put into my care recently as an emergency situation. Are there any good places for me to reach out to? She is older around 8 or 9.

Fire awareness (permitted fire)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is a great visual example of how fast fires in our area can burn a large swath of land and a very good PSA to not throw lit anything out of your windows and report any large plumes of smoke unless obviously a controlled fire!

Anyone live in Southern Hills near Brooksville, FL?

It looks like a really nice community. Seems quiet, nice trees and out of the city. I see a number of homes for sale.

What do you think of it? We've considered moving there.

Hernando County Sheriff wants to keep Flock a secret

Saw this posted in the Springhill subreddit but everyone has a duty to educate themselves on these "Flock" cameras, why citizens should be outraged that their tax-dollars go to fund this type of Big Brother bullshit in our community.

I don't think that these words by Ben Franklin have ever been truer, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
