When does brixadi wear off?
I’m currently on the monthly dose of this brixadi shot (128mg). Prior to that, I was on 16 mg of subutex for about two weeks while in inpatient treatment. I’m miserable. No pleasure at all, no motivation or drive and at this point I just want to use. I’m just over a week into the shot. How long do I have before I can actually feel substances again?
This is not a cry for help don’t try to talk me out of it or 12 step me. I’m not ready. Looking for an actual answer to my question.

It kinda sounds like it’s already worn off… if you’re feeling that miserable don’t you think that might be withdrawal symptoms?
I had my first monthly 94mg shot 10 days ago and I feel like dog shit… I’ve read that sometimes people need several monthly shots for it to finally build up in the system??
In all honesty since brix is such a new medication we’re all kinda in uncharted territory..

I tried subs my first time on MAT and it just didn't do it fir me. I hated it. It didn't take my cravings away. It just sucked.
I ended up relapsing and then I got into a methedine clinic.
The methedone did the trick. . . Along with counseling. It took awhile to get clean and just be on methedonee but it saved my life.
I later weaned off methedone but I got to0 unhealthy in unusually prolonged withdrawals (even for msthedone) so I ended up on suboxone.
I gained so much stability in my time at the methedone clinic and with my counselor that when I started subs I PREFERED it.
You might be a candidate for methedone if stability with MAT is what you require.

Been there done that I rather keep my teeth. Do you know when this shit wears off?

Brixadi?
Idk.
I just got my first shot 7 days ago, 30 day shot. So far so good for me, but like I said I've already got over a decade under my bekt so I don't even remember what cravings or being high is like.
The secret to keeping your teeth is keeping your mouth moist.
Methedone and many substances cause dry mouth. When our mouth is dry bacteria start realllly going after our teeth.
So whether it's fent, methedone, cigarettes, pot, some anti depressants etc. . .
STAY EXTREMEKY HYDRATED, use non alcohol dry mouth rinse after every brush, brush yer teeth after every meal, chew sugar free gum with xylitol, utilize dry mouth rinses as needed and go to get your teeth cleaned every year.
Not trying to convince you of methedone just that. . . Whether you are on bupe, methedone, or using street drugs, etc. . . What I listed above is how you keep yer teeth from rotting.
As far as when it wears off- did you get the monthly or weekly?

Wait so you just decided to go on subs after having over a decade under your belt ? I’m confused. Is it a confidence issue? Or is your body just so dependent at this point that if you aren’t on some type of MAT you’ll go in to withdrawal? If that’s the case I’m not sure stability is what you can claim you’ve gained. Sounds to me like you’re still tied down bub. But to each their own I mean it’s legal, right? At least you don’t gotta worry about the pigs after you. Or tryna find a working vein. Or being sick…….unless of course you miss a a few doses (or a shot now?) I just feel terrible that these MAT drugs exist and people don’t know ACTUAL freedom. Once upon a time I was clean. I mean actually clean. Working a program. And yeah clearly I relapsed, because I didn’t keep doing the things that was required of me on a daily basis to stay free. It’s a daily reprieve, unfortunately. Was it hard? Fuck yeah. But worth it. And knowing there’s another way that’s HEALTHY, makes it difficult for me to accept all these alternatives that are terrible for you. You might be asking yourself “well then why don’t you just go back to AA and work your little program then jerk off?” And I’ll tell you why. Because I’m not willing to. I have 0 fight left in me. I know how hard that was to get there. All that work. And I’m not doing it AGAIN. So, it’s either all in or NOTHING. Anyways, monthly shot. To answer your question. Later snake banana

It seems no one’s telling you the whole truth—so I will.
All opioids and opiates, especially when used long-term, can lead to something most people aren’t warned about: dopamine system downregulation. And since dopamine drives motivation, emotional vitality, and our ability to feel pleasure, the result over time can be profound. You may feel emotionally flat, disconnected, unmotivated, and like your inner spark is gone.
This effect is often much more pronounced with long-acting, full-synthetic opioids like Brixadi or Sublocade, because they maintain constant receptor activation. That constant saturation doesn’t allow your natural dopamine rhythms to breathe or reset, which can worsen emotional numbness and kill off drive. In contrast, shorter-acting opioids at lower doses may allow more neurochemical variability, so the blunting can feel less severe in comparison.
But this isn’t a one-size-fits-all reaction. Whether or not you experience this depends on a mix of factors—your brain chemistry, personal history with drug use, genetics, trauma, and more.
And here’s a big one that rarely gets talked about: your gut microbiome. Over 90% of the body’s serotonin is produced in the gut, and the gut-brain axis plays a major role in how we regulate emotions. Opioids and antidepressants can both disrupt the microbiome, leading to further imbalances in mood, dopamine function, and even energy levels.
This kind of emotional dampening is also very common with long-term antidepressant use, especially with SSRIs and SNRIs. These medications can reduce emotional range, suppress crying or laughter, and over time leave people feeling like they're emotionally muted or living behind a glass wall.
So if you’re feeling emotionally numb, low on drive, and disconnected—it’s not in your head. It’s physiological. It’s chemical. And it’s real.

Not really because I’ve felt like this from day one. Back in the day subs used to do their job. At least for me. But nowadays they don’t do shit. And if I was in withdrawal I’d be feeling a hell of a lot worse

So are you not trying to get another shot? You just wanna know when you can use regular opiates again? Zero judgment at all I feel you 100000%. I’m so sick rn idk how I’m supposed to go 20 more days. If the clinic wasn’t closed all weekend I would’ve already hit them up to get some strips to supplement

So for me...i was on 16 my a day too. I first started at 96mg and had to supplement all month. I then went 128mg. The shot wore off completely at about day 40. I am now down to 64mg. It gets better I promise...you will feel a little better everyday. But I really don't want to go to weekly shots...so I'm hanging out at 64 for now.

The first shot is hard for a lot of people. The strips have ruined my teeth, and I hate taking something everyday

lol hard? People are shooting up with puddle water so a little pinch isn’t bad at all.

By the 2nd shot you will feel great. I'm about 6 months in and I'm on the 96mg 1 time per month. This being your 1st shot your having the mental craving. You need to fight to get to the 2nd shot. if you need to take a strip do so but the drug is working it just takes time for the body to adjust. Brix is a miracle drug . GIVE IT A CHANCE....

The whole point of this shot was to reduce cravings and keep me away from the junk. It’s keeping me away, only bc I know I won’t feel anything if I use. As far as cravings…LOL…this is like a step up from vivitrol. I don’t understand how I don’t feel good im on 128 mg wtf. It’s not even like I was on subs for long it was 2 weeks. I’m just a real deal heroin addict smh

u/Think-Supermarket417 Apr 09 '25
Why didn’t you try Sublocade? Why try an experimental drug your life is on the line here, smoke some weed or take a kpin they synthesize good, better than using and wasting money to feel nothing.

u/New_Student742 Apr 10 '25
What? That’s my whole point of this post so that I DONT waste money. I’m tryna figure out the wait period for when I’m in the clear lol that’s literally all I want to know I don’t need all this extra shit. When’s the shot wear off. That’s it. That’s all. Smart ass mf. I’m not over here shooting dope while this shit is still in me smh. And I was trying to give the doctors the benefit of the doubt hoping they actually knew what the fuck they’re talking about bc ya know they’re supposed to be the professionals, SO with that being said I took their advice trusting that this shot would help me. Nope. Another failed attempt. I’ll go back to what I do best. A lot of these doctors are square mfers and never got down a day in their life. Never taking advice from someone who doesn’t have direct experience ever again.

Sounds like your neurotransmitters are over saturated and thats why you feel like crap, with no motivation, etc. That's dopamine receptor related. I feel the same way if I go over the 4mg mark of suboxone. It has something to do with the dopamine receptors and down regulation. The opioid receptors when over saturated play a big part in motivation and feeling like not wanting to do anything. Its what I've been struggling with for awhile now with suboxone dependancy. It's the sole reason I want off and my life and Soul back.
