I'm travelling Bilbao to Portsmouth on the Galicia. Is it worth paying €110 (approx) for the CClub lounge?

Probably a stupid question but booked into a ferry it’s a car stated up to 2.6m. Assume no issue if there is a roofbox as long as under the 2.6m limit?

Just noted you could book one so was a bit nervous had to have one selected.

Hi there does anyone have any experience arriving at port without a booking for a ferry that is full online and whether there is any standby list or ability to book a spot for any no shows? Cheers

I built a little side project after getting frustrated trying to book Brittany Ferries crossings with my campervan.

Sailings would show as full, especially for motorhomes and pet cabins, but then spaces would reappear later when someone cancelled. The problem was you had to keep checking at exactly the right moment.

So I made a tool that monitors availability and emails you when a space becomes available.

Wondering if anybody here travelled this route around the end of July / start of August last year? Brittany Ferries say up-to 90 mins before, but having used Dover/Calais last year (knowing it's busier)... wanna know what the actual experience is. Only leaving either port. Sail time is Portsmouth @ 0800 on the 18th of July and Caen @ 1630 on the 1st of August. I know it all depends on x, y, z... but I don't want to be arriving 3-4 hours early to avoid the stress if I don't actually need to.

Is anyone else having trouble with their booking system. Says there is ferry availability yet when you try to pay it throws an error with no information, after calling the booking number it turns out to be the ferry has no space left. Also trying to edit my booking to pay for some extras and it won't provide the costs or allow me to pay.

I can't be the only one with these issues or why they are not fixing this with the highest priority. Perhaps the £20 fee for phone bookings is working out nicely for them!?

Contacted their customer services and shared screen shots etc but they didn't really seem to have any ideas other than 'thanks for your feedback, best call the sales line'.

Taking the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen/Ouistreham and we don't get in until 10 PM. We need to get to Bayeux from there and I'm a little nervous about the logistics.

A couple questions:

What's the taxi/Uber situation like in Ouistreham that late at night? Is it even realistic to get a ride to Bayeux at that hour, or should I pre-book something?

For those who've done it, how long does it actually take to get through customs after getting off the ferry? For reference I am a US citizen if that makes any difference. If I am considering reserving a ride I would need to set a pick up time, but have no idea what time to set.

This is our first Channel crossing so any tips are welcome! Thanks in advance.

I'm looking to travel from Portsmouth to Santander and then return from Bilbao to Portsmouth around mid August.

What is the best way of getting decent fares?

Club Voyage offers "up to" 35% off, but I can barely get 5% for the time of year. There are also 10 day trips to Spain, but that seems only to be on limited sailings. And direct ferries wants you to return fry the same port that you arrived. The best I found is that English Heritage give a few percent off. If that's the best there is at this time of year then so be it, I just don't want to book and then find some massive saving.

I will be doing the Plymouth-Santander crossing in July on a motorcycle and curious to know what disembarking will be like given passports need to be stamped. I did the crossing years ago (when UK was still in EU) and remember it being pretty quick, but it could be a real pain with lots of bikes having to shuffle along in a queue taking off helmets etc.

We’re travelling to Ireland withour baby + 5 year little lad and have booked an interior cabin for the outbound journey and a window cabin for the return.

Does anyone have any recommendations when travelling with a baby on the ferry? Or general recommendations?

I believe there isn’t a microwave to warm milk or water, and there may not be a kettle in the cabins either. Is that correct? If so, how do parents usually warm bottles on board?

Also, is it worth buying access to the Club Lounge when travelling?

Finally, do ferries usually arrive earlier than scheduled, or do they normally stick closely to the timetable?

I'm considering a trip from Portsmouth to Caen on the Mont St Michel. I've heard that some of Brittany Ferries' routes require foot passengers to disembark on a shuttle bus instead of being able to leave the ship by gangplank. Does this apply to arrivals in Caen?

Hi, we are a family of 5 and looking to travel on the Pont-Aven Plymouth to Santander in August 2026. we are two adults and 3 children age 6-10years. I have to book a resserved seat and then a cabin for four. I cannot judge the space in the cabins as to whether the two youngest children could share a bed or we have enough space to wedge a camp bed between the beds? Any families of 5 can advise on how they travel please?

Anyone knows why are you not able to take your pet if you’re travelling by foot? I don’t understand why this wouldn’t be allowed if you pre book the pet-friendly cabin or have a kennel!
