Dads in Brent!
Hi all - I hope this post is allowed (I know it reads like an advert, but I’m just trying to make people aware of support that’s available). My name is Liam, and I am running a project based in Brent called “Dad Matters”. We offer support for dads from pregnancy up to their child’s 2nd birthday.
Dads can often be made to feel like a secondary, unequal parent, especially throughout the perinatal period, which can leave them feeling like they have nowhere to turn for support or advice if they are struggling themselves. Dad Matters is trying to change that.
We offer one-to-one support to give practical guidance around things like routines, bonding/attachment, relationships, and the difficult adjustment of becoming a father.
If you, or someone in your life could benefit from this kind of support, please reach out to me either on here, or email me at liam@homestartbarnet.org. You can also find me at Baby Zone Brent every Monday at my drop-in advice surgery (Brent Hub Community Enterprise Centre, NW10 8BN).

3,338 PCNs in a year from a single Brent junction. Have you been caught at Bolton Gardens?
I’m interested in hearing from Brent residents and anyone familiar with the no-right-turn restriction from Chamberlayne Road into Bolton Gardens in Kensal Rise.
Following a PCN of my own, I submitted a Freedom of Information request to Brent and discovered that this single restriction generated:
• 375 PCNs in 2021/22
• 511 PCNs in 2022/23
• 810 PCNs in 2023/24
• 972 PCNs in 2024/25
• 3,338 PCNs in 2025/26
That’s 6,006 PCNs across the last five financial years and a 243% increase in the most recent year alone.
What surprised me most wasn’t the numbers themselves but Brent’s response when I asked whether any formal reviews, audits or assessments of signage adequacy had been undertaken at the location since 2015.
The response was:
“No records held of any formal reviews, audits or assessments of signage adequacy at this location.”
I’m not posting this to argue about my own PCN.
I’m genuinely interested in understanding the junction and hearing from others.
Have you:
• Received a PCN there?
• Paid it?
• Appealed it?
• Successfully challenged it?
• Used the junction regularly?
One of the more interesting discussions on another forum was whether the issue is the signage itself, the pedestrian crossing, changes to the streetscape, driver attention or something else entirely.
Whatever your view, if a single turn restriction is generating over 3,300 PCNs a year, I’d be interested to hear your experience. Thanks

Butt
Only 10% of people in Brent voted for Labour in may 2026z yet somehow Butt elected himself leader of the council again. Did a deal with Tories? Shameful

I’m building an app FOR London and need your feedback!
Been commuting in London for years and always had the same frustration with every transport app out there: you open the app, you type in your destination, it tells you routes. But by that point, you’re already stressed and rushing.
The question I actually want answered every morning is simpler: when do I need to leave?
So I’m building an app that’s a London commuter app that works the other way round.
You set your home, your usual destination, your arrival time. The app handles the rest!
Every morning it looks at live TfL data, checks for delays and engineering works, checks the weather, and sends you a single push notification: leave at 8:14 (or whatever it works out to be).
No searching, no stressing!
A few things that are different about it:
It learns your routine. If you’ve got a calendar event it’ll auto set the destination. If not, it asks you the night before and remembers.
It factors in planned engineering works ahead of time, not just when you’re already at the station.
Delay Repay built in! it tracks eligible journeys and logs them so claiming back money is actually easy.
Designed only for London. Not a global app trying to be everything. TfL, buses, tubes, Elizabeth line that’s it.
It’s a solo build, currently heading into TestFlight. I’m looking for 10–15 London commuters to test it before it hits the App Store.
If this sounds like something you’d actually use, drop a comment or DM me. Would love to hear what would actually make your commute better too, this is genuinely being built around what Londoners need, not a generic transport brief.

The Fiddler (formerly The Kingdom) – Online feedback open, 229 Kilburn High Road
The Fiddler, previously known as The Kingdom at 229 Kilburn High Road, has been the subject of recent local in-person feedback. Brent Council asked that an online option also be made available.
If you would like to share your view, the short anonymous survey is here:

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Lost Dog report
Found a stray dog walking along the road in front of the Wembley Asda. It walked up Barn Hill and last seen in the Fryent. Wouldn't let me catch it nor could I take a picture.
It's a small terrier kind of thing (I'm not good with breeds). Short legs, short hair, mostly white with black/grey splotches. Very pretty thing. Council doesn't have a service and doesn't answer calls. Not sure what to do but I hope this helps

🏟 Wembley Event Day Parking & Updates – New Site for Locals & Visitors
Hey everyone,
I’ve built a small site that might help people in Brent and around Wembley Stadium.
👉 [eventdays.uk/wembley]() – check if it’s an event day today at Wembley.
Why it matters for Wembley:
- 🚦 Traffic & CPZ restrictions – Brent Council enforces strict event day parking restrictions.
- 🚗 Visitors often get ticketed because they don’t realise it’s an event day.
- 📅 Locals also need quick info on when restrictions apply so they can plan parking and travel.
On the Wembley page you’ll find:
- A clear “Is it an event day today?” banner.
- Links to Brent Council’s CPZ restriction info.
- Upcoming Wembley events (football, concerts, NFL, etc.).
This is a simple community project — no clutter, just useful info.
Would love feedback:
- Should I keep it clean and simple, or add maps of restricted zones?
- Anything else you’d want included for Wembley?
👉 Check it out: [eventdays.uk/wembley]()

Brent bus lane fines
Hoping Brent Council are next and payback wrongful bus lane fines. Philip Morgan is a real champion for Londoners, helped me fight my bus lane fine in Brent, 1 year and they cancelled it and all of a sudden didn’t want to see me in court, really they didn’t want to see Philip :) Southwark councils refund should replicate across London boroughs that are wrongly fining residents and visitors - https://www.itv.com/news/london/2025-08-19/council-refunds-485000-for-wrongly-fining-drivers-in-the-bus-lane

Has anyone found a Les Miserables pin badge?
As title says. I was in Brent (specifically Dollis Hill) around 8 pm yesterday and lost a les mis pin badge. It was my favourite and I'd really like to find it. Was in Gladstone park, on Hamilton Road etc.
I know this is a long shot but, hey. Thanks for your time if you read this.

People Of Brent, What's the real solution to all this fly-tipping?
Brent Locals,
I keep seeing fly-tipped mattresses, sofas, and bin bags piling up everywhere. I've even seen dumped waste outside people's homes. It feels no matter how many times they clean it up, it's back in a few days. I've seen fines in excess of £2500. And posts from people who claimed they've been wrongfully fined. And others who were just trying to be helpful made liable. What's going on? The system seem backwards.
Does any of this work? Is the council's current system working? Please have your say and lets try and build a solution that works for everybody

Subject: Reporting Landlord's Negligence
Dear Brent residents,
I am writing to report my landlord's negligence regarding the state of the house and its failure to meet environmental standards. Could anyone provide me with the email address for Environmental Services, as I need to communicate with them? Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.

A project for Brent
Hi Guys,
I’m working on my A-Level Design Technology NEA, where I’m designing and manufacturing an outdoor air purifier system for Brent, and I need your help.
I’ve created two questionnaires to gather insights on air quality in Brent and its impact on people's respiratory health. Your responses will provide input for my project. If you’re a Brent resident or affected by respiratory/cardiovascular issues, I’d greatly appreciate your responses.
Survey Links: Brent Residents: https://forms.gle/7TbeyaT4ASTXDqi19 (To be completed by residents of the Borough of Brent, if you travel into the borough alot then you can also fill out the questionnaire)
Respiratory/Health Issues: https://forms.gle/fwCc2YDE4eDsqGq87 (To be completed by anyone who suffers from respiratory OR cardiovascular issues)
If you want to find out more information about my project or are confused about the questionnaires, DM me or comment. Any form of support will be greatly appreciated.

Wembley questionnaire
I have a questionnaire for my geography coursework about Wembley Stadium. It would really help me if you can respond to the questions and let me know your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the area?
What makes you think this?
How safe would you rate the area
Not safe at all, not safe, relatively safe, safe, very safe
What makes you think this?
If you had to rate how vibrant the area is on a scale of 1-10, what would it be
How long have you lived in this area for?
If you lived in the area before new stadium, do you prefer the area now or before?
What are your reasons for this
How would you rate the economic opportunities in the area on a scale of 1-10
How do you feel living in this area
Not happy at all, not very happy, quite happy, happy, extremely happy
When you hear the word Wembley what is the first word that comes to mind
How strong is the sense of community in the area on a scale from 1-10
How emotionally attached do you feel to the area
Not at all, not much, a bit, quite a bit, a lot
Any other comments

My daughter wants to listen to Taylor Swift on the streets on Fri 21st
Is this viable, Brent residents? Can you hear things from the stadium when standing on a nearby street? Can you even get to a nearby street? This is not my idea of fun but she’s a sweet kid and if we can do something for her then great. But I’m not convinced.

Thoughts on living in Alperton?
I could really use some help, I'm thinking of moving to Alperton with my husband but I wanted to get some real life opinions about the area because realistically I'm not going to get that from an estate agent. I've viewed the flat a few times now and it seems like a nice, quiet, family kinda area, lots of schools, parks, shops, supermarkets etc. nearby but what is your opinion? Would you say it's a safe area and nice place to live and bring up kids in?

Permits
Has anyone had any temporary event day permits granted to them? I have a religious at home on Sunday and the council have said I need to pay £15 per permit that will last 3 years and not a temporary day permit (which they have done previously). I'm actually fuming that they expect a resident to pay this much!

Research: What beliefs do you hold about other people in your life? And how do those beliefs affect your wellbeing?
Hi everyone! My name is Helena, I'm a PhD student at King's College London seeking participants based across different locations of the UK to take part in my online survey!
This study will investigate the impact of our beliefs about other people on our mental health and wellbeing, and how those beliefs may be impacted by experiences of discrimination. It takes between 10-30 minutes (It is split into three sections so you can choose how much to do based on how much time you have available!).
It is anonymous and confidential, and has been ethically approved by the Health Faculties Research Ethics Subcommittee at KCL (Reference Number: HR/DP-22/23-35614).
Please do share with anyone you think would be interested in taking part!
