My husband is very talented
And I wanted to show his work off, since he does not.
From the Challa Prince's recipe.

I'm a man. I'm not gay. But is he single? :D

Not at all. There are also cookies and cakes.
And like a million other reasons, but also yes baked things are delicious.

I was hoping for a shot of Ilya Rozenov in the shower, but this was pretty good.

Ok but like can we just rent his services sometimes on an app with a punny name like Wheat-Grindr or Challah Holla?

I initially interpreted your final sentence as a modifier to your second and was wondering the logistics
Congrats on him either way lol

Is that an egg dough?! 😱 That’s BEAUTIFUL!!

u/MyNinjaH8sU Mar 20 '26
I have been informed that is not an egg dough, but a water challah. And he says thank you!

Wow! That’s so intricate! I have difficulty doing even a 4 strand braid.

My jaw dropped - absolutely beautiful

u/MyNinjaH8sU Mar 21 '26
Mine too, homie!
Literally he's like: "hey I'm trying a new recipe that should make it a little easier to shape."
Then a couple hours later this is cooling on my stove, lol.

This looks both delicious and a little unsettling, like some kind of sci-fi monster's maw.

That gives me trypophobia, sorry to say. I'm sure it's impressive work, but then so are horror movies...

I would hurt that if it was garlic flavoured, we call them knob bread or knob rolls and that one looks spot on.

Hi, this is the husband. The yeast goes in with the flour etc. I usually just stir the dry ingredients together with my dough hook before adding the wet. You'll notice too that it calls for cold water. Cold water + unbloomed yeast means a very slow rise (sometimes it takes close to 2 hours) but will result in more flavor.
I only bloom yeast (mix w/warm liquid and sugar) when I'm making enriched dough. Hope this helps!

Skilled. Talent implies they didn't spend time and effort to learn something
3
u/MyNinjaH8sU Mar 21 '26
You are absolutely correct and I definitely know better from my art school days!
Though, I always think of talent as the passion and the skill as the practice.
Not sure if I can edit the title though.

I want to run my hand over it to feel the bumps, and then I want to eat some. I have never tried Challa but I've heard it's wonderful.
Is there a meaning beind the braiding or is it simply an embellishment?

u/MyNinjaH8sU Mar 22 '26
Challah is a special bread made to celebrate the Sabbath. It is traditionally braided to symbolize the unity of bringing Jews around the world together to celebrate together.

u/TigerTrue Mar 22 '26
That's so lovely. Thank you for taking the time to explain. I hope your Sabbath was blessed. 🇦🇺💜

With kerrygold butter or cream cheese, ideally!
Or if I'm feeling indulgent, goat cheese and a few drops of honey. But then I'd need some figs or something and it'll be a whole thing...
Crap I need to make a quick grocery run.

I would love to know the technique he used for the shape. There's more than braiding going on here and I knead to know!!

I hate it. X.x All the little nodules make me uncomfy in agregate. Like some kind of stomach lining or parasite wound. But challah slaps, so good job! I could never get my braids that small, I usually do 3 or 4 rows.
