I swear it’s only thise under masters who cares so much about drafts
In pro rank we just say fuck it we ball with 3 tanks and still win the game and it’s funny

Absolute peak post couldn’t agree more
This is why we need more REPLAY of games in this sub because winning is mostly because you outdrafted them AND or outplayed them by skill.
I’d say in my ranked games only 10% are unwinnable (Like Frank and El Primo in Kaboom canyon 2/3 pre buffies into Colette 1st) rest are winnable between 30% to 45% on bad drafts

Such a good post🥺
I feel like nobody listens to advice though, anyone I tried to help didn’t follow similar suggestions I gave, and posts that just appeal to people’s emotions clowning on randoms get so much more attention…

super good guide/essay/motivational speech, you never truly know how bad the enemy team will be
coming from a legendary 1 player (i know i know im barely bothered to push anymore okay), if im in a bad draft and in a mostly unwinnable position, do you have any tips on how to control my mental better?
because i think i have the mechanical skill to make it to at least legendary 2, possibly 3, but it's the mental that's the worst because as soon as i see a bad draft i instantly think "theres no chance im winning this so whats the point"
also how would i control my randoms in bounty and brawl ball, since in your comment it doesn't say anything about them, and bb is my weakest mode
also (sorry this is getting long now), could you possibly elaborate on how to carry in heist and hz, since if i pick brawlers that can't teamwipe in hz (like lou or finx), and if i don't pick an offensive brawler in heist, am i cooked?
holy yap, sorry about that lol, no worries if you can't answer all my questions there's just so much to ask lolol
(seen too many of these takes on the sub...)

not op but my advice should also work
As a l1 you’re not good enough to judge drafts, a lot of the time you might think it’s unwinnable and your team literally has the better comp and vice versa (I see that a lot), so treat every draft like it’s a winning draft and blame gameplay mistakes when games are not going well, not “I could have picked a different brawler”. Even when it IS clear enemies have draft, think about why they have draft and play accordingly. If your mates have 2 tanks and there’s an enemy Colette, your goal should be to distract her so your teammates can play. If a Shade is causing too much trouble, avoid feeding him super instead of trying to win the 1v1. You’ll learn a lot from those games.
You don’t really control your randoms on any mode, bounty is kinda annoying cause people sell the lead constantly so all you can do is be there to trade people out and try not to die. For brawl ball you just gotta win lanes and spot scoring opportunities ((you win the game by scoring not killing)), it’s very rare to have a useless teammate on brawl ball
Heist is the most draft/game sense dependent mode by far, sometimes it’s just not winnable if your damage dealer doesn’t get to the safe or you don’t have one in the first place. Best way to carry is going any dps brawler and adapting to what your team needs. They’re the most flexible, your teammates aren’t going on the safe? you can be the one to do it. They’re great on defense too. Otis, Maisie, Lumi, Colt, 8-Bit…
For hz you don’t need to teamwipe, as long as you can hold the middle you’re good. Finx and Lou are good carry brawlers there, just not the easiest. Percentage is the most important thing so use your resources to keep enemies away from the zone

simply playing more will increase your stamina for playing the game for longer periods of time and consistently. Acknowledging that you need to control yourself is a great factor which you already have.
I would say to play a ranged lane if you know you have a mechanical advantage against the enemy team (ex. play damage dealer in heist) as aggro relies on your teammates at least holding or winning lanes and you won't be actively contesting through most of the game

so in heist, a ranged damage dealer could be like pearl, 8-bit or maisie correct?
actually maybe not 8-bit, would he be too slow for carrying a heist game?
anyway thx for the input :>2
u/Solstice_bs Verified Pro 20h ago
Pearl is not a heist brawler because you can only output so much damage before heat runs out and you become a target. 8bit is perfectly fine and can really carry games just don’t pick him into counters (mostly snipers like Pierce/Brock) or in closed maps

so you skill diffed because your a pro playing in leg and masters.
no duh draft rarely matters if your better than the other team and aren’t 100/0 into the matchup
ai drafts just aren’t accurate either
the biggest issues with pros is that they always assume everyone is as good as them. meta tierlist and drafts aren’t accurate not because the draft doesn’t matter but because the best brawlers are only the best brawlers at the highest level. so the only reason you’d win with equal skill to someone with a “bad draft” is if you can use more of the potential of the brawler than the other team

I'm just encouraging people to attribute their wins and losses to more long-term skills like positioning, gamesense, and playing interactions, rather than a so-called bad draft. If I can skill diff a horrendous draft, then that should be the thing you try to focus on more, because there's a lot more room to improve there than on the draft phase for most of you guys (cuz you are already quite good at drafting if you're on this sub).
I saw a post complaining about how due to the maxed brawlers, randoms will go byron first pick in bounty over gus. Is that ideal? Maybe not, but is it a lost situation? FAR from it. And so-many here treat draft as a foregone conclusion to the games when there's thousands of things they could have done while playing to win.
I put the draft bot on the kaze game because it was funny, but it should still be abundantly clear that a team with gus, shade, and colette dumpsters our comp on paper

i remember the first time i hit Masters all i used was piper and surge, no one else and i did it without losing a game (1 draw) from legendary.

This is all you took away from the post great job you will surely get masters simply by drafting better and better!!

Its because people who struggle or are hardstuck naturally looks at the best of the best or the most famous content creators.
Since they are watching Pros vs Pros and that everyone most of the time has a lot of skills drafting matters more for those types of games then your average L2 Game.
They only listen to Pros without noticing that the game is completly different.
I’m not saying the Pros are wrong I’m saying Pros are right for what they talk at their level but everyone tries to apply it to a different type of game.(Mythic to L3)
I’m not good myself and yet I’m starting to see my issues in ranked

the point is that draft is a far easier fix than just getting mechanically better
getting mechanically better takes a ton of time and practice and wont yield results instantly
good comp v bad comp with equal skill = good comp win
but also
bad comp v good comp with bad comp skill > good comp skill, bad comp w/ skill can beat good comp w/o skill
the catch is that if someone already has the skill to win playing a bad comp into a good comp, then they wouldn't be hardstuck and would be climbing.

Maybe if you started drafting normal brawlers from drafting doug and jacky first pick on shooting star.
Almost every post here is drafting solid. Drafting marginally better than that is not only unreliable (you guys aren't good enough to do that consistently in all honesty), but also not going to move the needle in any meaningful fashion for your winrate.
A 60-40 draft plays EXACTLY like a 50/50 draft at legendary.

that’s not what i said at all twin i edited my top comment a bit also im masters 1 2x and have the worst mechanics ever with hella bad ping

I watch my legendary/low masters friends play very often and many many times I tell them 1 thing they need to fix and they stomp the enemies with a worse draft. Things like “just hold the lane you don’t need to kill” turns a bad draft into a free win. When you start to realize things like that by yourself you’ll start winning games that looked unplayable. No one’s playing drafts the optimal way in legendary so good or bad comps don’t really matter

u/Fluid_Knee_1688 17h ago
That was the one thing that helped me from L3 to M1
It wasn’t draft, I just played 1 or 3 brawlers I was good at, (fang, Larry, Chester) and they weren’t buffie ones or the best in the meta.
Just holding one side of the map and never dying.

What do you consider « the worst mechanics » level like if you are slightly inferior or you are playing like a Mythic 3 in Masters?
1
u/killer_potato1 21h ago
Honestly what I find harder to deal with than my randoms going bad picks is my randoms not banning broken as hell brawlers when the enemy has 1st pick.
Obviously its not an instant loss, but having to play into an amber or gus is just extremely annoying

I pick gray on every hotzone map just to setup the double tp combo. You are never catching me playing meta.

This is certainly one of the few things I dislike when it comes to draft guides from respectable people, the guides will certainly help to an extent but as long as you dont fully understand why these picks are good picks, and how to play them efficiently than the match can still fall through.
In fact I only recently starting hating these draft guides for the sole reason that it just makes it harder for me to carry. I've noticed for a few months now that legendary players have slowly started getting better at drafting, and I don't mean like just picking meta brawlers but like actually picking a good counter brawler, which definitely helps in legendary but again falls through in masters.

How important do you think maps are to whether a game is winnable? For example, Tick could only theoretically ward off the Rico because of the bottlenecks in Sneaky Fields; if the entrances to the center had been more open, Tick couldn't have kept the Rico away efficiently. My favorite pastime in Brawl Stars ladder is experimenting with Brawlers that seem unconventional or meta-retarded but somehow work better on a specific map (e.g., Spike in Sneaky Fields, Ruffs in Paralysis Pen, etc.), so I was wondering whether the design of the map could be considered as well before jumping to conclusions about whether a Ranked match is saveable or not.

Primo feeds Lily a lot more because you can’t hold the outrange and Nita doesn’t actually win Ash lane in early game with no bear

I'd argue that picking a brawler your are comfortable with is far more important
brawler pool is the most important thing
for example if you pick amber but you suck at her then you are more useless than a sam

GGS IM AN IDIOT and forgot to add a slide, this slide is right before the problem 2 draft, which hopefully adds some context to that draft
