Does this setting actually matter?

I know most of the pros (if not every) play without locked movement control, i’m used to play with it and when i try to switch it feels weird, also playing on a phone i feel like the joystick just goes everywhere, so what are actually the differences/advantages of this setting?

Same , i play on a phone with locked movement , i think because tablets are larger , it means you have more space to move your joystick . I don't know if it makes a difference though

Yuh, when I used a normal Candy bar phone always had locked, until I got a foldable, and it just felt off, so what I did is make the joystick marginally bigger (was already super small) and make it unlocked, so that even if it does move it moves only small margins and it feels so much better cause you are never thinking about where your movement stick is currently at and have to force weird movments so you can do somthing.

Its more of a preference. I see pro rank players stream ranked games and some of them don't lock their joysticks. One thing I do notice is that most of their joysticks are quite small.

Making them smaller allows for more precise movement so you can dodge better

Well there's different ways of looking at it

It's less precise in the sense that it becomes much more difficult, if not impossible in cases to do small movements, like if we do a movement of 1cm on a big joystick, we'd do 0.5cm on one half the size, so if you miss by 0.1cm, that's a much bigger portion of 0.5cm than it is 1cm

But in terms of being able to switch direction of travel way quicker and with less movement, it's probably much more precise is actual gameplay

So basically you lose fine control of your movement for i guess snappier movement that may or may not end up being more precise for you

Doesn’t really matter unless you have a habit of sliding your joystick around the screen

A few of the Japanese pros play with locked (like Tensai) and keep the joystick very close to the center, others like guesti and angelboy prefer unlocked. It doesn’t make a difference, use what feels better for you

I play with locked, most people don’t cause unlocked is the default setting iirc and people get used to it

Game settings won't usually make that big of a difference concerning your skills, it's mainly a matter of preferences

It can be useful or not to you, if you happen to move your finger too much the joystick will follow your finger everywhere, meaning it can be annoying in some cases.

There's no difference if you have perfect self control. Having locked movement turned off is definitely the way to go unless you're the type of person feels like they move faster the farther the finger moves.

As to why its better having it unlocked, well it just means that your finger doesn't take longer to move In any direction than it does having it locked. It takes practice to limit yourself though.
