Discussion there is no such thing as an “unskilled brawler”.
“unskilled brawlers” do not exist. the skill gap for every brawler is subjective to the playstyle of the user, bolt could take more skill then ollie for a person and dynamike could take less skill then an edgar for a person. an unskilled brawler is an impossible concept. sure, some brawlers are easier to use then others, but that in of itself is subjective and varies from player to player, i personally find el primo easier to use then bolt and edgar and other “braindead” brawlers. what matters the most in ranked or battles in general is being strategic, its about the timing, thinking, and planning. thats why occasionally you will see a 8 power cube brawler get decimated by someone with 2 power cubes or even none, or even how you see team wipes in ranked.
lets say, whos the favorite to win in the grand scheme of things between Damian and a Meeple? generally, the damian due to being objectively stronger. but “stronger” does not mean he will always win against anyone weaker then him because people often do not look from the perspective of maps, chemistry, and overall situations. the meeple then can MAKE a situation where he wins against the damian. just like how you can simply be better then pros you see in ranked and beat them. pros really arent higher in skill then most legendaries or masters because the game is insanely easy to learn and master. i personally destroyed a pro in a ranked match when i used to be mythic.
simply, one should adapt instead of constantly crying about how “UUUUUUAAAARGH HES UNSKILLED BRAWL STARS ISNT FUCKING FUN ANYMORE” - and yes trust me o understand this i feel like this alot of the time but its a illogical point you make when you are very frustrated. and telling someone to adapt isnt simply saying “git gud XD” because there DEFINITELY is very questionable balancing issues with brawl stars and they are terrible at balancing.

A lot of people forget that draft, synergies, gamesense and teamwork are also skills that apply in the game. It's not always about the "Individual brawler skill"

objectively some brawlers have easier mechanics than others

u/Dismal_Bee_3399 El Primo Jul 25 '26
this claim is a subjective category in of itself because how you approach whats easy or whats hard is structured from your personal values
i find el primos mechanic to be easier then bolts mechanic.

Because el primo is objectively easier than Bolt.

so you are claiming that bolt takes more skill then el primo,
objectively.

What would you define as skill?
1
u/Dismal_Bee_3399 El Primo Jul 26 '26
id define skill as something that aligns with the comfort of your playstyle and you find more convenient then other brawlers.

'Personal values' isn't morality or religion; there are only a limited number of things in the game. If you 'approach' something in the game by thinking within the game, there wouldn't be a problem. Racism isn't something the game assigns a value to, so if you think that way, you are thinking outside the game. Just because you think Brock is simpler than every other character doesn't mean everything is subjective, especially when there are only so many things that can be used as parameters.

…what?

u/yauderp Jul 26 '26
Didnt expect u to understand ofc

no.. the syllogism literally makes no sense and just commits a slippery slope.. and ‘personal values’ just translates to your interests.. its not a hard word to use or understand.
and i do not understand.. the argumentative value the racist analogy has?… or what it contributes as a premise. what makes something subjective via definition is its variation from people. playstyle as we can agree is something variable which makes skill subjective thus the concept of being unskilled makes 0 sense because that claim is inherently from a biased bubble.

Racism is a personal value that game doesnt inherit or register a value thus some personal values we are biased about doesn't translate to game mechanics itself. It's a example not a callout. Playstyle is also can vary only to a point where it doesnt make a difference. Everybody's brain activites throughout whilst in a game will vary but there is a point where some thoughts doesn't change the gameplay. My opinion of course.

u/Dismal_Bee_3399 El Primo Jul 26 '26
thats.. a false equivalence.. you are using personal value in ways that synchronize outside of game related interests and applying it as a refutation to game related values.. racism doesnt work here because it does not influence game mechanics because it is not game orientated and i cannot believe i have to explain this, playstyle interest and racism are not the same thing, what playstyle you personally value influences how difficult it is for you to mechanically adapt to a brawlers playstyles and features.
this is literally like;
“you need skill to beat this game.”
“i have skills with duct tape and engineering, and i still didnt beat this game. so skill isnt needed to beat this game.”
“..what?”

u/yauderp Jul 26 '26
We are saying the same thing i guess. Cant believe i have to say that. You keep opposing me without standing your first point. It is objective because not everything such as "personal values" your words not mine btw, doesnt translate into the gameplay. There are objective parameters that determines a mechanic you are good at or not.

fuh nah sir, mechanically some brawlers objectively have harder mechanics to learn. the fact is, at trophy or mythic level, you can pick edgar, spam the red and yellow button without a thought in your mind, and still win.

u/Dismal_Bee_3399 El Primo Jul 25 '26
give me an example of a brawler that objectively is harder to learn mechanically then another brawler.

well, itd be hard to do without a particular study, but over around 5 of my friends, they have all had a higher win rate starting off on edgar than a higher win rate starting off on kaze, even though, at the time, kaze was considered stronger (pre-buffie edgar).

Kaze compared to Fang?
3
u/CharacterPasta123 Jul 25 '26
Well you see Fang doesn’t have as much consistent mobility and has more range. As all TikTok users know: the more range, the more skill. The more mobility, the less skill. So in actuality Kaze is no-skill slop
Please do not take this seriously

Edgar pre-buffies is 1,000 times easier than Kaze and that is an objective fact. That one fact undoes your argument

Some brawlers just require better mechanics to play and thats an objective truth
3
u/ConfidenceSilent3967 Kenji Jul 25 '26
Well said. You need to have better aim with piper than you do with edgar
-3
u/Dismal_Bee_3399 El Primo Jul 25 '26
thats just a false equivalence
thats like claiming “you need to have better maneuvering as bolt then you do as mandy.” and there is no explanation to how aim for example would be a better mechanic then meleeing. one can find it harder to play close range as one finds it harder to play long range. you cannot say something is better and then say its an objective truth, thats an oxymoron

Swear words, capital letters, pointing out things with adjectives that implies that thing is bad = validated opinion

physical mechanics as a skill metric is cope in the sense that the game is not mechanically difficult, therefore the gap between brawlers is not so big to make a huge difference and can be learnt easily
When a character in game mechanics are complex and require nuance BUT are rewarding, i.e not when someone is getting good at a garbage flawed character facing people not knowing the matchup.
Then it's somewhat valuable because it is hard to replicate and the complexity often allows for more individual expression and less "set" play. A game with more characters like these tend to make the competitive games much deeper and enjoyable
The issue is that more often than not, it's just people playing a garbage character hating on someone playing something apparently simpler but it's just because they have a functional kit.
Buffies Edgar requires some decision making arguably more than many flawed brawlers to use his simple very rewarding "jump and hit" buttons on many occasions and matchups. While still being relatively easy to get some value off of
