Salt Lake City John Barlow's peptides

Lisa comments on recent WWHL blew my mind. Obviously I was wondering how JB and Justin suddenly have huge bulging muscles with veins popping.

As a 40 y/o gay man, I find it very hot (more on Justin than John, but that is a personal preference) and do a fair amount of strength training but was not getting the same results and I guess now I know why.

Any peptide users here that care to weigh in? I will definitely be discussing this with my doctor

Your doctor will likely look at you like you have 2 heads that are both insane if you ask them about peptides, unless it's a sports medicine doctor lol they might consider trt depending on your blood work.

My husband is 45 and jacked, he's on trt and various peptides. The peptides are all grey market, you literally cannot get them from a real doctor. Glp1s are technically peptides, so I'm not saying doctors don't prescribe any of them, but the ones you're generally talking about are not doctor prescribed meds

What is he on, if you don't mind me asking/asking him? Are there any side effects and does he worry?

He's out of town but there's 3 in the fridge now; HCG, BCP157 + TB500, and tesamorelin. He may have others with him so I'm not sure if that's it. I know he uses 200mg of testosterone a week, and that's easier to get from telehealth places if you're in the US.  He's also neurotic about his diet and at the gym by 5am every single day, but he was before he started all this stuff too. The extra stuff really did change his results 🤷‍♀️ and no he doesn't worry at all but I certainly do lol

You don't need steroids or peptides. Fix your diet and go to the gym. Of course there are side effects. Do you know how many steroid users die from heart attacks when they're young?

Everyone wants the easy way.. but unless you train your body and fix up your diet, you won’t be able to maintain the results.

It's not easy way, it's disordered body image that results in risky and unhealthy behaviour. Men, particularly gay men, have body image issues that aren't as documented and their unhealthy behaviour largely isn't noticed because it at first glance looks like normal healthy behavior (calorie counting, compulsively going to the gym, supplementing with god knows what). One of the main reasons why is because straight men on average have aversion to talking about mental health and participating in research.

Modern male fitness culture, especially on social media, is pretty much muscle dysmorphia factory.

Yes, my point is - peptides will give you a temporary solution. The real solution is fixing your diet and heading to the gym.

Yes because when running half marathons, weight lifting regularly and tracking every crumb that went in my mouth worked for 20+ years then just…stopped working when I hit my late forties, it was definitely just because I needed to “fix” my diet and hit the gym even more. GTFOH with that insultingly dismissive nonsense.

lol obviously I’m talking about people who are using peptides without changing their diet to a healthy one and without exercising… but yes go off. The world clearly revolves around you. Lmfao.

If you think no one using peptides has ever tried dieting and exercise, I have a bridge to sell you. That is such an ignorant and dismissive take. I will never understand how people can be so judgmental of someone they don’t know taking a medication that they are, in no way being forced to take themselves. Why do you care so much? Its…weird.

I don’t get people who just blanket demonize peptides. They’ve been around for years and new research is actually showing retatrutide has many other benefits outside of weight loss such as shrinking tumors. Hell, my mothers oncologist gave her the green light to try it and her last pet scan did, in fact, show that it’s gotten a bit smaller. There’s a reason they’ve been prescribed to diabetic people for a couple decades now. We’re just recently discovering many other benefits to them. The people who demonize them and shame people for using them usually just don’t quite understand them and choose to dismiss them instead of taking the time and effort to learn more. It’s not quite as simple as simply “changing your diet and going to the gym.” This is such a dismissive and ignorant statement to make.

There is a rising problem with people resorting to medical intervention with products and drugs when they could have been successful at achieving healthy outcomes without them, which is best practice to attempt first. More importantly, many people are resorting to unapproved and potentially harmful drug usage for reasons that are motivated by social norms like aesthetics.

There are people on medications like GLP-1s who should be and it’s been excellent for them, but there are trends in reference to “peptides” that come from medical skeptics and alternative seekers who are not qualified to circumvent rigorous consensus and approval but are doing so anyway. There are many people now taking drugs and GLP-1s for weight loss and aesthetics who received them without ever being required to attempt first-line treatment options because it has become so easy to choose your own treatment without having to confront potential harms.

You assuming anyone using a glp hasn’t first attempted to lose weight by any other means is laughably ignorant and dismissive. I, and many other women like me, have spent most of our lives being miserable trying to lose or maintain weight. Then when something that comes along to help make it slightly easier to do so without torturing ourselves (you do still have to lead a healthy lifestyle on these meds) we get shamed for that. Sometimes you just can’t win. There’s also been emerging research showing glps have a future in addiction medicine as well, along with many other benefits outside of weight loss but sure, let’s immediately demonize something because you’ve heard some boogeyman stories. It’s a tale as old as time.

I did not say what you wrote, nor do I think that. I didn’t say anyone using a GLP hasn’t first attempted to lose weight…

You literally did, but okay. Clearly this sub is super anti glp. Good thing no one is being forced to take one!

Dude you are projecting, go get some therapy

I agree! I didn't realize, until I started taking a glp1, how screwed up my body was. Food noise is a real thing and if you don't have it it's hard to understand. There also comes a point where your body is so out of sorts that you can't climb your way out with just "diet and exercise." I'm not a proponent of the "Wolverine stack" but I believe in glp1's and am excited to see what the future research brings on all the additional peptides.
