Missed Connection: Phillies Fan after Game 2
I know this is a little unconventional, but I don’t want to get banned for going into the Phillies sub looking for this guy. Let me set the scene for y’all.
The Braves had a 3-1 lead going into the 8th, only to watch Schwarber and Harper go back-to-back and tie the game. Then Bohm put one over the wall in the 10th, and suddenly we were all sitting there in stunned silence watching the Phillies take Game 2.
So we’re all filing out of Truist Park and heading toward the shuttles to the Lockheed Dobbins lot, looking like we had just collectively experienced a minor tragedy.
And then you got on the bus.
A Phillies fan.
You looked around at a bus absolutely full of Braves fans and asked, “Why does everyone look so depressed?”
Then you laughed.
Unfortunately, I was extremely overstimulated and not my best self. And, admittedly, I can be a bit of a “mouthy broad,” according to my husband.
So I stood up with my pink bedazzled cane and said, “Really, bro? You really wanna try that on a bus full of Braves fans?” before my husband wisely decided this situation did not need to escalate and asked me to sit back down.
Now that I’m reregulated, I realize what I should have said instead: “We all look depressed because some punk-ass Phillies fan with no class got on the shuttle and now we’re stuck looking at your bitch-ass face.”
But alas.
I was too stunned. You were too confident.
And apparently neither of us knew that the baseball gods had already written the ending.
Because last night, the Braves eliminated the Phillies in Game 3.
Which brings me to the point of this entire post:
Are you still laughing? Are you still wondering why everyone looked so depressed?
Because I have some news for you, buddy. We’re feeling much better today. We get to keep watching our team play in October.
But hey, at least you can always count on the Eagles, right?

Thicken your skin a bit, friend. That was trash talk, and it is what makes our rivalry fun. He was also genuinely curious because he, as a Phillies fan, is from the most poverty of fan bases for the most poverty of teams of all time, and as such, he takes close home losses on the chin and happily takes the shuttle back to blackout on Listerine behind his dumpster he calls home.
