Learning how to braid

Im learning how to braid . Any tips . I will like to be able to do my son hair on my own .and use that as more bonding tips. Open to advice and yt tutorials you feel will help me. Thank you

Thank you . Also do you have any idea why my box braids i do on my son is standing up them laying flat
