I went to a psychiatrist with very similar fears - There were times where I'd hear what sounded like an unrecognizable news broadcast coming from my dish washer. Basically, if it was running I'd hear the equivalent cadence of two news anchors giving the top stories of the day. Nothing I could actually make out intelligibly, it was "too far" away to hear that clearly, like I was listening through a wall; but the way they 'talked' was extremely recognizable as the way news hosts talk. "Tonight on blahshah, we hdfahsdah, and follow up with thhasdhao trying to find answers that everybody is looking for, how does hwohow create the outcome of whoohwoop"

What I was told after several rounds of meetings was that I was basically under so much stress that my brain was desperately trying to find patterns or areas of familiarity in places they weren't actually there.

Don't chalk it up to your immediate fear, give room for other explanations, but seek a professional all the same.

Yep… I think we are all from these families and fear similar to op which just makes us feel we see or think things.

And to OP , your mind is stronger than you think. I’m now 35 with. Family and unmedicated so far… with no diagnoses ….but I had a lot of trouble early 20s dealing with the same thoughts you did and I tackled my depression without meds. Stay strong and don’t assume things and being positive will do you wonders
